Back to back grey cups, losses few and far between, team 3-0 to start the year... not much to complain about as a Bomber fan so we complain about others cause life is pretty good in blue and gold these days.

  3. So, I was thinking of a way to bring this thread back to discussing Monday night's game and I went to the Argo twitter account for some material. They haven't sent a tweet since late Saturday night, early Sunday morning with the final score. Nothing. How can their social media be so unengaged?? Hey, Tanenbaum, the problems are coming from inside your own house!!

  14. I think what Rourke is doing is awesome for him, for that team and for the CFL in general but I absolutely LOVE that you posted this because if it was a Bomber doing it, you’d undoubtedly be the only guy here going “whoa whoa whoa wait a minute guys 36% of his completions have come against below average defensive backs and I checked the weather reports for both games and it looks like the D had to play with the sun in their eyes and the other teams haven’t proven that they’re any good against teams that I personally have deemed to be considered proper competition so you’re all idiots for getting on the bandwagon so early, let’s just wait until he’s done it for 64 games in a row without fail and maybe then I’ll buy in”

There is reason to believe that the roots of this gun mania in the US go waaay back to the time of the American revolution. There is evidence that one of the biggest reason for the rebellion against British rule was that Britain outlawed slavery at that time and since the majority of agricultural and other work was being done by slaves imported for that reason, the loss of those slaves would have been ruinous to the owners. Moreover, the colonials had good reason to believe that the British were not above re-invading the American colonies and bringing them to heel again. So, maintaining an armed populace was a good idea for them. But local militias right after the war of independence were formed specifically to track down, capture and return runaway slaves to their previous owners. Even after the establishment of the Macon-Dixon line, these militias were permitted to pursue the fleeing slaves right into states and territories where slavery was no longer allowed. After civil war, the southern slave states were no longer allowed to have slaves, but it took years for all of the slaves to be freed, and the southerners kept the militias as acts of defiance under the mottos, "The South will rise again"- ie: that these states would regain their independence from America by force one day. The culture of victimhood has persisted to this day and so has the fantasy of rebellion and devotion to firearms.

  18. yup...u need to get a feel and in a rhythm...and also get yourself game acclimated....alternating possession's at least the first 1 to 2 quarters would be the best...and then roll with whoever is producing...even sets with both on at same time....as then they cant key on any specific guy. And not sure why some say Augustine couldnt take full reps...he not big enough...he plenty big enough and would thrive with 12 to 15 touches a game minimum....Roberts had no problem taking full reps....and he took a lot of abuse too game in and game out, and many a game took over in late 4th quarter and we grinded out wins and killed the clock...the narrative Johnny couldnt do it is just plain dumb...and late in a game...with a lead....put em both out there to kill a game.. also Johhny's blocking is more than adequate...and not a concern...coaching has even said so....posters maintaining that stance obviously not watching...or know what to watch for, especially not knowing the individual blocking scheme and or assignment each play....and if they are that much of a savant and guru I wish I had their knowledge and know ow all these yrs

Powell memorandum. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/58894b38ebbd1a2ab75adbe2/t/588cd57dd482e988fc008e79/1485624704579/Lewis-Powell-Memo.pdf a lot of it traces back to this document. "Fifty years ago, an American lawyer called Lewis Powell Jr. wrote a memo for the US Chamber of Commerce that deserves to be better remembered than it is. It was to become the blueprint for a “hostile takeover” of US economic and political life by a wealthy, conservative elite. Fifty years on, the threats to America’s “free enterprise system” that worried Powell — high taxes, government regulation and a powerful labour movement — have been well and truly defanged. In no small part, this is a result of the way that the strategy Powell set out in his 1971 memo was operationalised by its most influential reader: Charles Koch, CEO (then and now) of Koch Industries, America’s largest privately-owned company. Over the intervening decades, Koch (along with a handful of other hyper-wealthy Americans) has funded and organised a campaign to (in the words of one historian) ‘save capitalism from democracy — permanently.’ That campaign, as Powell recommended, has been waged on multiple fronts: in academia, the media, politics and the judiciary. Its success has relied on a near-perfect alignment of ideology and self-interest — and a ruthless persistence on Koch’s part." https://medium.com/volans/how-the-powell-memorandum-changed-capitalism-and-what-we-can-learn-from-it-today-d2ce10234f82 Kochs invested a lot of money in supreme court judge trump appointment Gorsuch, who is an anti regulation extremist. yeah, Garland is doing nothing. as is Biden, Pelosi, Schumer. bravely singing songs.

  32. Yeah I would like to be a fly on the wall and know the justification for Oliveria over Augustine. I don’t see durability being an issue, he’s 5’9 200 pounds of pure muscle, we had a 150 pound running back get 350 touches every season, and that’s with a guy who smoke and drank after every game.

just more confirmation of the turds on that roster....Duke is a loser “I hold myself to a higher standard, the ball in the end zone, the one that he knocked out of my hands, I come down with those. He made a good play, he gets paid just as much as I get paid, not as much money, but you know what I’m saying,” said Williams.

  37. Ummm YES as a former running back it hurts my heart to only see Augustine get two carries, me personally.. I liked to be fed early and often but I realize we’re not a run first team but that’s why I like the idea of a 50/50 split going into the fourth and whoever takes control of the game deserves to close it. Most running backs normally get better later as the defense tires, we’ve seen that for years with Harris where fourth quarter was his time to shine.
    1 point
  38. yeah first half I think should be a full even rotation and see who is having success, or how defense is defending...then roll with hotter hand

  39. YUP Masoli stays healthy and they can get any run game going...they will be tough and have to be favorite in east....Powell even tho old as time should help them, and also gives Masoli a reliable outlet in pass...and we know how Lapo loves that. Rourke....yup...he hasn't seen any real pressure or anything beyond a basic defense....and against T.O they didnt even see a defense....that was bizzare.....under pressure and not able to make his first or hot read, and have to change his launch point will be a different story, and am also not sold on the Lions O-line yet either...but I said from pre-season I did see them as a possible torn in the side and a play-off team...they will go as Rourke develops, or regresses and comes back to normalcy....which he will.....I can see the West as Bomber, Stamps, Lions, Riders and Elks....and the East shaking out as Ottawa, Hamilton, Montreal and T.O...too many mercs and individual performers on T.O and guys who just dont seem to give an eff...if they do a serious reset they may be a 2nd place team but I wouldn't hold breath on that

  40. I still don’t understand why he gets 15 carries, and Augustine gets 2, it should be closer to dead even in my opinion and then go with the back down the stretch who is producing more to close out the game.

Ghislaine Maxwell Sentenced In Jeffrey Epstein Sex Abuse Case. U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan handed down the sentencing in a New York courtroom. Federal prosecutors had sought 30 to 55 years against the former international jetsetter and British socialite. The 60-year-old was convicted late last year of sex trafficking, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts and two conspiracy charges related to the late financier. Epstein killed himself in 2019 while awaiting trial, according to authorities. Epstein faced allegations of sexual abuse from scores of women, though the court in Maxwell’s trial focused on testimony from four women. They described being abused as teenagers with the help of Maxwell, who they said recruited them to Epstein’s homes after showering them with attention and offers of mentorship. Once at his properties, the women said they were instructed to perform sexual massages and were sexually abused.
