  1. Anecdotally I can tell you my in-laws from Germany visited in the summer of 2019 and they were surprised and intrigued to find out a German was playing for the local 'American Football' team that I seemed to be so obsessed with. I took them to a game and pointed him out every time he was on the field. They didn't really follow the game but they still had a lot of fun (we won 31-1, it was wild). Fast forward a few months when we win the cup and I get texts from Germany saying they had tuned in to watch the Grey Cup and were happy for our city. It all started with mentioning Hansen played for us. So at least on the smallest scale I've seen CFL 2.0 generate interest outside our borders. How it translates to money is still in question

It’s so f’ing predictable that people like PP and his handlers steal the handbook used by Trump and his handlers, modify it a bit, to try to win an election even tho he’s not officially party leader yet. I’m sure they have ‘the election was stolen’ strategy ready to go when needed.

  14. Another thing to consider is what these players bring back to their country. Hansen went back home and won a Championship for his home league. If he never comes back, but takes his experience from here and uses it to help grow the programs back home, is that also considered a win?

Man there are so many people around Washington that are completely on the books for Russia it's not even funny. What the west really ought to do is step in and put a boot so far up Putins ass he never even looks at another country again... but that's not advantageous because he's insane and likely to start throwing nuclear weapons around.

  17. In a perfect world, say 6 Mexican players make CFL rosters and become visible contributors, creating an attainable career path would inspire hundreds or maybe even thousands of amateurs and semi-pros playing the equivalent of beer league football in Mexico to take their training to the next level in the hope of following their countrymen. For 99% of these players the goal of playing in the NFL is not realistic, if the CFL can demonstrate there is a valid opportunity and a chance of success, such an initiative could create it's own momentum. I would predict if there were 10 Mexican players in the CFL, interest in CFL broadcasts in Mexico would begin to establish itself. I really can't see this potential existing for any of the smaller global football communities, the focus should be on Mexico, which has a huge viewing audience that could be exploited.

On Reddit in particular, Rider fans saying now is a good time to check out other teams broadcasts as this guy is insufferable. He proclaims 'sports nerds ruin sports' when analytics are discussed (like those awesome QB accuracy heat-maps) On Twitter, Derek Taylor himself is implying Michael Ball is a prick by congratulating workplace bullies everywhere in response to Ball's hiring. On top of that he supposedly started his call-in shows last year with 'no covid opinions' only to go off on covid tangents of his own throughout the show. Sounds like a winner to me!

  26. That's totally fair, they had never seen American Football played anywhere before that day so interest is clearly not that high in Germany. As far as having never heard of Hansen or the CFL, it was only, what, week 5 or 6 of the first season of CFL 2.0 by that point. we can give it a couple years before we completely write it off though it clearly has some wrinkles to be ironed out if it has any hope

  29. Not in the vast majority of gun crime, but it absolutely 100% matters in mass shootings - the worst of the gun crimes I again refer your attention to catapults. Imagine the Las Vegas shooter had a catapult with a bump stock installed wooooeeee

You are talking out your ass. Semi automatic hunting rifles are completely legal in Canada to own and to use. Restricted, yes, but only technically. If they have a barrel length shorter than 470mm, or are on the cockamamie list Trudeau put out they are restricted. If they are a long rifle they are non restricted. It takes very little extra effort to purchase a restricted firearm. Also, at no point did I designate rim-fire or centrefire in my posts. A 22 LR semi-auto is a hunting rifle, that being said I own two centrefire semi-auto hunting rifles and will continue to do so.

Yep and catapults are even deadlier than the both of them, even seen a bolt action rifle blow up a stone wall? It's catapults we need to be worrying about. Won't even set off a metal detector.

Again, pay attention to the words I use. I never mentioned shotguns as I know most shotguns now are semi-automatic. I consistently said hunting RIFLES. Semi-auto shotguns are also not restricted. Most gun owners do not have restricted licenses and are not legally allowed to own semi-automatic RIFLES, unless they are rimfire, which I'm sure you already know. I am not a gun expert, but I know enough to spot a bait-and-switch. You originally claimed all guns can be easily modified to full auto in 5 minutes using a hacksaw. I assumed you didn't think anyone on the board would know enough to call it for the BS statement that it is. When I called you out on it, you changed it to semi-automatic and then made before 1985. That's quite a difference from your original claim. I'm hoping the Russians follow this line of thinking. I'd love to see their soldiers outfitted with bolt action rifles.

Pardoned traitor Michael Flynn suggests that the West should let Russia overtake Ukraine Ex-National Security Adviser and retired Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn said on Wednesday that the United States, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and the European Union should cease supplying Ukraine with military aid to fend off invading Russian forces. Flynn, whose deep ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin ultimately sank his career, appeared on the right-wing propaganda show The Absolute Truth with Emerald Robinson and said that arming Ukraine accomplishes nothing except prolonging the conflict that Putin initiated just shy of two months ago. "If you listen to Western media, it sounds like Ukraine is holding off Russia. But if you listen to not Western media, it sounds like Russia has the upper hand. So which is it?" Robinson asked Flynn. "Yeah so first of all let me give you my judgment on sorta where we are right now. I think that anybody that continues to put, ya know, fuel on a blazing fire – meaning more weapons, more ammunition, more of the sorta warfare type stuff that's thrown into this fire – is going to keep this fire blazing for a long, long time," Flynn replied, adding that "I think that doesn't benefit anybody." https://www.alternet.org/2022/04/michael-flynn-russia-overtake-ukraine/

  38. July 1966. I witnessed the fire at St. Boniface Basilica. Watched the St B & Winnipeg Fire Depts vainly try to save the roof on that old church. My Dad's auto body shop was just a few blocks away on Marion Street right beside the Norwood Hotel. I happened to be at the shop when the fire started. Hearing the sirens, I walked down to see what was going on.

Yeah banning guns makes sense on the surface. No guns. no gun crimes. Until you realize that most gun crimes are committed with illegally obtained guns. People don't go to Cabela's to get a gun they're gonna use to hold up a store or shoot a rival gang member with. Criminals using guns will find guns. And there just isn't a way to get all the guns out of our country now...which is mostly due to us being neighbors with the...youknowwho...(points down south). So it's a fair conversation to have...but not one I'd ever want to take up considerable time in our politics. We need to go after the root of the problem. When I was a younger man, I knew multiple illegal ways to get a gun if needed. I'm assuming this has only gotten easier.

Fortunately most hunting rifles are not semi-auto. Something the average non-gun owning person may not realize. In fact, semi-automatic rifles are already restricted in Canada and most gun owners are not allowed to possess restricted firearms. That's a pretty big stretch to go from making any hunting rifle into a fully automatic weapon which was your original claim. Additionally, making modifications such as you suggested (which is definitely not possible with MOST hunting rifles) would make the firearms illegal. By already restricting/limiting access to firearms there has been some of this going on. Hunters are allowed perfectly good firearms to use for hunting, but not allowed access to significantly more dangerous weapons. There are also programs in place to require firearms owners to attend training, additional training and background checks are done in an imperfect attempt to prevent restricted firearms from getting into the hands of those most likely to use them to cause harm to others.

  45. If that's the case then how long do you wait until you get measurable results & how long do you pay them below the CFL minimum? IMO if you're going to keep Global's you should at least pay them the same as the rest of the players. That means minimum for most of them, but allows for paying more for better Global's.

  49. It was Remembrance Day weekend 1986. Almost 8,000 showed up at the old arena after being snowed in for 3 days. Stiil the lowest crowd ever at the time, but was remarkable given the City had shut down. Basically cabin fever had hit so people did anything to get out of their houses and the game gave them an excuse.
