It was required to clear the protesters... If that's done, the emergency is over and they don't need it anymore. I actually think it's really good that their revoking it so quickly. Takes away the opportunity for those opposed to it to say that Trudeau is abusing his power and taking advantage of the situation.

Mulroney would not be welcomed now. "Brian Mulroney was honoured Thursday night as the greenest prime minister in Canadian history. The Canada-U.S. acid rain treaty is probably the best remembered element of Mulroney's environmental record. But he also introduced an ambitious environmental agenda, created eight new national parks and brought in the Environmental Protection Act. Even some of the former prime minister's fiercest critics showed up at Thursday's ceremony in Ottawa. Former Liberal environment minister Sheila Copps shared the head table with Mulroney, who was crowned the greenest PM in a survey by Corporate Knights magazine of high-profile environmentalists and others. When he left office in 1993, Mulroney boasted about his environmental record, and it was only the environmental award that coaxed him to return to Ottawa for the first time in many years. Wants U.S. at the climate-talk table In his speech, Mulroney said climate change is the most serious environmental challenge and time is running out." cbc

  9. Think its more that difference in season timing and length. He can get some game tape in USFL and then be available for NFL camps if a team wants to sign. With Bombers earliest he could sign in NFL would be 2023.

I personally know, as an acquaintance, Conservative Senator Don Plett. Long before he became a senator he was well known as a pretty big slimeball. Not at all surprised the eventual controversy that followed him as a senator - defending residential schools, travelling during the first Covid winter holidays, etc. And worse yet... he's known as a cheater in curling!!!😁 They say the cream rises to the top, but so does the slime. Senators are not immune from being pretty horrible or ignorant people.

    Covid-19

Reading a book about the immune system (Immune by Philipp Dettmer). Did not realize the impact some diseases can have on our bodies even after we have cleared them. According to the book, measles can basically wipe out a lot of your immune cells that remember how to fight infections/diseases that you have already had. So while most people will cope alright with measles, the challenging thing is that your body will not know how to fight previously known enemies and this includes enemies that your body has come to know through vaccines. This is especially dangerous as the anti-vax movement gains steam(which is likely even more popular with Covid). Additionally, previous mono infection (which 90% of people have had by the age of 20 in developed countries), is linked to other conditions such as MS, IBD and type 1 diabetes later in life. The long term consequences, which I assume many of them are unknown, are fairly concerning to me with Covid. We already know children are more likely to develop type 1 diabetes and I'm assuming more lasting consequences will play out over time. Its good that we are learning more how to treat long Covid, but I would really like to know how strong the correlation between Covid infection is with later diseases and how much a strong/weak case of Covid changes these risks (along with how much vaccination would act as a preventative, if any).

my guesses: a) It looks terrible for Trudeau if his cabinet declares an emergency and the elected government doesn't even review it. The vote gives legitimacy to a legitimately controversial thing and was conducted in accordance with the law, which may be important for future legal action related to the occupation. So Parliament has to vote. b) off-camera investigations / actions may have been facilitated by the Emergency Act -- remember the government is extremely interested in the financing of the occupation. Might have needed a couple of days to get those closed out. c) with the Q-trucker occupation banished and its leaders defanged, Trudeau is the main character of this storyline. "Ottawa calm but Trudeau Clings To Emergency Act" is not a headline the dude wants to own. Now the headline is "Trudeau ends Emergency Act" which is the outcome that most Canadians want, I think. Trudeau looks decisive; he rides to the rescue of the feckless Ottawa and Ontario authorities and then he dusts his hands, proclaims mission accomplished, and Canadians are free to tune out. For better or for worse, voters like decisiveness and clean endings. d) the wingers were pumping a fever dream of a Castroist Trudeau unleashing a cultural revolution backed by Bill Gates, grandma-trampling RCMP horses and genderqueer BLM vaxx squads. This is a hard storyline to work when your vile dictator has relinquished his emergency powers in accordance with the law. Lots of winger spin rooms getting a workout today; the one I see most frequently on twitter is how the ending of the Act is a profound diss to Jagmeet Singh. conservatives concern trolling about Singh is hilarious. e) Senate vote was a big opportunity for opportunist senators to grandstand and give the Liberals more headaches. This has been defused. I don't know if this was a credible threat given how sleepy the Senate is, but the right wing media was sure pumping the tires on this angle so maybe it had legs. You need characters to do a storyline like this and the cons don't have anyone good; Lich and King and the rest of them were swivel-eyed goons, Candice Bergen is clearly in over her head and has no idea how to manage a story of this magnitude, Ford in Toronto isn't going to rock any boats with an election coming, Randy Hillier has strong "jerks off to the Handmaids Tale" energy, etc, etc.

  21. Honestly maybe it’s just me, but I’m really not a big fan of this. Never really cared for DT’s style. Also drives me nuts how he looks at the game (who cares who leads the CFL in passes caught for 7.5 yards or more without getting a first down after 8 pm on Fridays) but hey, I’ll give him a chance.

Trump refers to Russian aggression towards Ukraine as 'genius https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-calls-putin-genius-ukraine-invasion-1311025/ " “I said, ‘This is genius,'” Trump said on a right-wing podcast. “Putin declared a big portion of … Ukraine … as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. … I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s going to go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force. … We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re going to keep the peace all right. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy … I know him very well. Very, very well " please die.

  30. yup.....thats actually a key thing...we dont have an albatross contract anywhere on our roster preventing us to go after something if it comes up...if anything...we have several well below market, and some below what some lesser players are pulling in else where...we in a good spot, and I fully expect another Walter's out of thin air signings before March ends

  33. Hopefully that is true, and he be a good mentor for Leggs and Mourtada, as I would assume they keep them both...Be curious if they try Castillo doing all the kicking as he can punt, and allow us to get another positional player on the roster yup...I think Walters factors "possible" monies into his cap tight ledger...which is smart to be honest....because history shows...he always has something there for a nice score, and if nothing falls in his lap, always has ..or had when there was no bonus cap money to re-up guys with a bonus to go toward current yr, and not affect the following sms as much

  37. I've heard a couple of Taylor's games with the RIders and he did a very good job of PXP. A little over the top in praise of the RIders but that is what the job description demanded. I look forward to him being able to call a game and offering his honest insight, and I am sure he does too. Crazy that he left the football mecca of Regina to come here, as Riderfans are convinced their CFL PXP guy is a top 3 sportscasting job in Canada.

Trump with all his businesses in the shits decided while in the WH that the grift would begin by using the Trump hotel in DC and fleecing diplomats from around the world looking for favors then sticking to the American taxpayer with his eyepopping golf bills, and now is taking every cent he can from the rubes that still admire a failed businessman and terrible president

    Covid-19

COVID "long-haulers" may have finally found relief in inexpensive, over-the-counter drugs. Small studies suggest over-the-counter antihistamines can relieve long COVID symptoms Two women have recovered from post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), a condition more commonly known as long COVID — and researchers believe that inexpensive, over-the-counter antihistamines were the reason. The news comes from a report published this month in The Journal for Nurse Practitioners which describes the recovery of two middle-aged women who, by chance, found that antihistamines greatly improved their daily functions after suffering from long Covid. The research will be welcomed by sufferers of long COVID, of which there are many. Up to 10 percent of those who contract COVID-19 have long-term symptoms long after the virus has cleared their body, according to University of Alabama researchers. The United States population has had a cumulative 78 million cases of COVID-19, meaning around 8 million Americans have long Covid symptoms long after the virus has cleared their system. Long Covid sufferers experience all kinds of different symptoms, though the most common include brain fog, psychiatric disorders, loss of taste and smell, fatigue and lack of energy. Long Covid appears to affect children and adults in equal measure. In this latest study, both women who recovered from long Covid took over-the-counter antihistamines for different reasons aside from their COVID-19 symptoms. The first woman had an allergy to dairy which was triggered by eating cheese. Prior to her January 2020 COVID-19 infection, she was healthy and active; after, she could no longer tolerate exercise, had prolonged chest pain, headaches, brain fog, fatigue, and a rash. The morning after she took an antihistamine for her dairy allergy, she noticed considerable relief in her fatigue and ability to concentrate. But in the next 72 hours, when she wasn't taking an antihistamine, her fatigue and brain fog returned. The woman self-administered diphenhydramine and observed an improvement in symptoms once again. Over the next six months, she noticed many of her other symptoms — like the rashes — were improving as well. Now, she reports she's back to 90 percent of her pre-infection functioning ability, including exercising 1 to 2 hours 5 to 6 times a week. The second woman, who was similarly active and healthy prior to COVID-19, likely contracted COVID-19 from her child who was unwell with COVID-19 symptoms. While a PCR test came back negative at first for COVID-19, she was clinically diagnosed when she developed chills, shortness of breath, chest pain , and a fever. At first, her symptoms persisted for three months. During the course of this time, she also suffered from Covid toe, abdominal pain, and rashes. Nearly 13 months after the onset of the infection, she substituted her usual allergy medication with diphenhydramine. The next morning, she also noticed a significant relief in her fatigue and brain fog. Since then, she has been taking 25 milligrams of diphenhydramine at night and 180 milligrams of fexofenadine in the morning and is back to exercising and feeling better. Both fexofenadine and diphenhydramine are common over-the-counter anti-histamine drugs.
