    Covid-19

Once again, stating facts becomes deflection in your eyes. Saskatchewan has the most cases in the far north, while Calgary is the hotbed in Alberta. To continue saying that Hutterites are the highest contributor is ridiculous, because it’s not what the numbers show. For the record, nothing you say will stop me from stating facts. If you keep stating false opinions, I will keep on combatting you.

How is it ridiculous and dumb? The United States are turning into an authoritarian state right before everyones eyes and protests like this are a way to shine a light on that and hopefully get people to get off their asses and give a **** enough to do something about it. Or do you figure the protesters should just be good little citizens and sit meekly in their homes and stop whining? is that the real world to you that everyone else needs to join you in?

You only have to look at how easily spikes occur in places like BC where it was totally under control and now is moving in the wrong direction. Even Manitoba where things were going so great and then boom, an outbreak. That’s the problem. Even if things are looking top notch at the moment, it all could change dramatically because we still do not know enough about enough to put it to rest. So, be safe, be careful, wear a mask, and carry on the best you can.

    Covid-19

False. "Calgary continues to be a hotspot, with 553 cases, up from 385 on Friday. "We've doubled in one week, that's exponential growth. If we double again in one week and again in one week, that means two weeks from now, we will have more active cases in Calgary than we had at the height of the crisis in April. So this is bad. We certainly have more cases now than we did in March when we shut everything down," Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi said Monday." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-climbing-covid-19-cases-1.5656951 Overall in Saskatchewan: 58 cases are health care workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to health care in all instances. 340 of the cases are from the Far North, 211 are from the Saskatoon area, 124 from the North, 120 from the South, 87 from the Regina area and 80 from the Central region. 133 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, while the remainder are adults. 331 cases are in the 20-39 age range; 300 are in the 40-59 age range; 167 are in the 60-79 age range; and 31 are in the 80-plus range. 51 per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males. 15 deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date. https://www.saskatchewan.ca/government/news-and-media/2020/july/20/covid-19-update-july-20 Even in Manitoba, 10 of 18 new cases cannot be considered a "vast majority". Words matter, especially when targetting a group of people.

Well, I’ll tell you what I find interesting: I have come on here and stated things exactly as they are, making an effort to not hide anything. But you somehow see that as making excuses - I didn’t make any. I answered every question that was asked and provided the facts. I have no Hutterite contacts in Alberta or Saskatchewan, thus I could not comment accurately on what exactly happened there, so I chose not to.

Because it isn’t true. It was 2 - 3 people who didn’t follow the rules, not an entire group. Most Hutterite communities in MB have followed all the public health guidelines. Also, no one identified any visible minorities on Corydon.

Sorry, I wasn't accusing you of prescribing to that narrative, just pointing out that it does also fit that narrative. You make a good point though that the media has been hammering COVID quite a bit and impacts may be overblown... the biggest problem here though is the uncertainty surrounding it. Viruses mutate all the time.. the concern with COVID is its' highly contagious infection rate, the virus isn't very deadly right now, but if it mutates into something more sinister, with its high infection rates, it would be devastating. That's because the Spanish Flu did kill millions! More people died from the flu itself (particularly after it mutated) than were killed in World War I. Estimated death tolls from the Flu range from 50 million to 100 million1, by comparison WWI killed between 20 and 40 million. Correlations are often drawn to the Spanish Flu because given the era, it is a perfect example of what happens when no preventative measures are taken. It's also the most recent pandemic, so it's the one we have the most information about. Sources: 1: https://www.history.com/news/spanish-flu

    Covid-19

55% is not a vast majority in my opinion. Last I checked it was 5% more than half. You said the vast majority of new cases across the Prairies were related to Hutterite colonies when clearly this is not the case. Rather than admitting your hyperbole was a little too strong (incorrect), you've abandoned the rest of the prairies and refocused on Manitoba to suit your argument. And no, it does not take a "full day or two" to get infected. If that were true (and it is not) we could open everything up right now. If you don't like getting fact-checked, perhaps use your words more carefully.

Just because the majority of people (according to your own anecdotal observation) may be following the rules here doesn't change the fact there are still covidiots sharing the same space. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/march-to-unmask-rally-manitoba-1.5655566 Bit of a slippery slope to advocate for the need to have one's health in his own hands. This self-proclaimed virology expert and economist also claims masks are ineffective. Seems pretty covidiotic to me.

I wouldn't consider a 2nd wave as something outlandish and fictional and made up as the bogeyman. That's getting a bit "cocky" in attitude in thinking that come flu season numbers won't shoot up.

  19. Well, we can't answer accurately until we get to the other side. It was the second wave that killed the majority of people in 1919 during the Spanish Flu pandemic.

Trump Seen At Event Without Mask Hours After Saying It’s ‘Patriotic’ To Wear One President Donald Trump on Monday called face masks “patriotic” and said on Twitter “there is nobody more Patriotic than me.” Hours later, he was seen without his patriotism. Footage from a fundraiser at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, above, shows multiple people, including the president, mingling without a mask. Health experts have been calling on people to wear face coverings when in public to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. Trump has only rarely been seen in one, and has resisted calls for a national mandate. https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/donald-trump-no-mask-fundraiser_n_5f1681f9c5b615860bb6a80b?ri18n=true (Shocking that Trump has been exposed as a liar and hypocrite)

FINALLY, A GLIMPSE OF SANITY IN THE GOP: Lincoln Project co-founder details how the conservative group will deal with Trump-enabling Republicans after the president is ousted In an interview with the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent, one of the founders of the Never-Trumper Lincoln Project said he is personally seeking “atonement” for some of the Republicans he once helped into office, and that the group is making plans to eliminate all traces of Trumpism once the president is gone. Lumped in with those “traces” are the GOP lawmakers who have enabled the president. According to John Weaver — who admitted that he helped get former GOP Senator Jeff sessions elected — the group has no plans to disband should Trump go down to defeat in November. With Sargent writing, “The Lincoln Project’s declared mission is ‘defeating Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box.’ That includes a pledge to elect Democrats over Republicans who, like Trump, do not ‘support the Constitution,’ he went on to point out that the group has been notable for the inclusion of Kellyanne Conway’s husband George, and longtime GOP strategist Rick Wilson known for his hard-hitting attacks on Democrats. Asked whether “the Lincoln Project is breaking permanently with the GOP embrace of voter suppression, gerrymandering and other anti-democratic tactics,” Weaver said absolutely, adding they are commited to ensuring the “drive-by Jim Crowism in many parts of the country is put to an end.” Asked about his work for Sessions, Weaver replied, “I have my own atonement to do every day about that. Did I contribute to putting a brick in the road to where we are today? Yeah, I did.” The political strategist pointed out that the group plans to release get-out-the-vote ads to go with the blunt-talking ads they have already aimed at Trump and GOP senators like Lindsey Graham (SC) and Susan Collins of Maine. Which brought up what the group plans to do after the election. Pressed whether the Lincoln Project will run “ads attacking President Biden for raising taxes on oil companies in early 2021,” Weaver said ‘no.’ “We’re not gonna do that,” he explained. ““He [Biden] will have a mandate to clean up the mess that Trump has created with the help of his enablers. That shouldn’t be held up. We intend to do all we can to make sure that doesn’t happen.” “Indeed, in Weaver’s telling, binding the ‘wounds’ of Trump, as the group’s mission puts it, includes working against Republicans who try to prevent Biden from addressing our deep crises, particularly among Trumpist Republicans such as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) who use this to position themselves for 2024,” Sargent wrote, adding that Weaver told him, "We will not stand on the sidelines if an attempt to bind the wounds is held up. We plan on participating in that debate.”

Aparty from the obvious racial slur, this has to be considered remarkable self-restraint for Trump. The clip was only 23 seconds, but that is usually enough for him to blame African-Americans for all the violence in the US, immigrants for all the STDs, Latinos for all the rapes and Obama for pretty much everything else that has gone wrong. And blame Joe Biden for the Russians making Trump look incompetent.

Netflix Exposes Trump’s Shady Mob Ties in ‘Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia’ In the 1970s and 1980s, New York City was controlled by five major mob outfits—the Bonanno, Colombo, Gambino, Genovese and Lucchese families—that not only ran the region’s various illegal rackets, but also effectively operated the billion-dollar construction industry that was transforming the metropolitan landscape. Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia is the true story of the law enforcement and prosecutorial efforts to take down those kingpins, which played out in a manner eerily reminiscent of The Wire. And unsurprisingly, at least for those who lived in or around the five boroughs during that era, it’s a tale of crime and vice that invariably involves Donald Trump. The current commander-in-chief factors into the final episode of director Sam Hobkinson’s three-part Netflix miniseries (debuting July 22), since his Fifth Avenue Trump Tower was one of countless projects the mafia had a hand in completing. “So I told him that there’s jobs in here that did count, like Trump. Nineteen million,” says a gangster on a federal wiretap recording, thereby directly linking the future president to the shady mobsters who governed New York’s concrete and cement unions (and businesses). These crooks regulated which of eight chosen firms would get contracts and, in the process, kickback points from the gigs to their criminal superiors. As Fear City makes clear in just a few short minutes, anyone like Trump, who was knee-deep in the real estate scene, was invariably a bedfellow (either directly or indirectly) with the mafia.
