  1. Sean McGuire “I want to get back up there and prove myself, for sure. But, more than anything, I’m just chomping at the bit to get back to my teammates and just do my job. I’m going to continue to try and learn from Zach. Last year down the stretch learning from him was unbelievable and our relationship grew a lot. I learned so much from him in a short period of time and even in these Zoom meetings, just being able to pick his brain and hear him communicate and how he dissects things on the field has made me absolutely excited to get back and continue to prove myself to my teammates. I want to continue to earn trust in the locker room with my teammates, that comes first.“All I can do – all everyone can do – is just wait this thing out.”https://www.bluebombers.com/2020/05/23/column-story-sean-mcguire/

I don't know the answer to that. That's the big question - shut it down? Or stay the course? League has to decide that with the players, coaches and staff. And, the policy needs to be in place prior to everyone getting together.

You need to keep enough players around, quarantined, to cover for injuries and cuts. Can't have someone injured and have to wait two weeks before a replacement can even practice.

All valid suggestions.....the word is that given no FA camps and no mini camps initial TC rosters may exceed 100. Dickinson in Sask says he’s looking for 3-4 replacements. 4 exhibition games 2 of them at home was a tough sell to season ticket holders. Vets loved it when it got cut down to 2 games. Hard to show your potential as a rookie given limited playtime. It needs to be run as a business....if blowing it up and starting over means it survives so be it.

Give Trump full marks. He never passes up any opportunity to sow discord and and mistrust among Americans. Tremendous consistency.

They are so confident that people don't care enough to switch sides and that there are no checks on powers they aren't even pretending to not be corrupt. That is the state of American today.

    Covid-19

From what I was told, there were a number of false positives (8 was the # given) this week so your information is fairly accurate. False positives are supposed to be rare and we've had quite a few of them in Manitoba so that's makes me wonder about the testing methods being used here.

Two of the three appeals judges are trump nuts. You can see what’s happening here. Judge Sullivan (Flynn’s judge) won’t be happy.

  17. Only 48 hours after Trump did much the same in the US. Could it be that Kenney worships at the feet of Trump?

  18. Just more of the same, Jason Kenney doing his best to turn back the clock on environmental standards by 45 years without consulting the public before doing so. This is what happens when money is valued more than life itself, selling off the natural environment that sustains us a nickel at a time. Alberta to change restrictions on foothills coal mining to ease development The Alberta government is changing its coal policies in a move it says is intended to make it easier to develop open-pit mines in one of the province’s most sensitive areas. “Government is placing a strong focus on creating the necessary conditions for the growth of export coal production,” says a news release dated May 15. The changes, to come into effect June 1, abolish graduated protections that have been in place since 1976 for land in Alberta’s southwestern foothills. The vast area of mountains, streams and meadows is home to threatened species such as grizzly bears and contains the headwaters for much of the fresh water in the southern prairies. https://calgaryherald.com/business/energy/alberta-to-change-restrictions-on-foothills-coal-mining-to-ease-development/wcm/228e2bd9-8120-44c8-98b5-c33500744343/ Alberta Energy Regulator suspends environment monitoring for oilpatch over COVID Recent environmental monitoring exemptions for the oilsands have been broadened to include Alberta’s entire energy industry. The Alberta Energy Regulator says the decisions, posted Wednesday on its website, are in response to public-health concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies no longer have to monitor fumes released by burning, or look for and repair leaks of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Surface waters need no longer be tested, unless they escape into the environment — and that water need no longer be tested in a lab. Soil and groundwater monitoring is gone, “with the exception of any monitoring that is necessary to protect human health and ecological receptors,” the decisions say. In-situ oilsands operations no longer have to conduct any wildlife monitoring, including research programs and population estimates. That includes remotely operated monitoring, although bird deterrents must remain in place. Reclamation and wetland monitoring is also suspended, as are research requirements. Keith Stewart of Greenpeace Canada has said his group isn’t aware of any other jurisdiction in the world that has gone as far as Alberta to roll back environmental protections during the pandemic, including the United States under President Donald Trump. https://calgaryherald.com/pmn/news-pmn/canada-news-pmn/alberta-energy-regulator-suspends-environment-monitoring-for-oilpatch-over-covid/wcm/efc8c0d7-cf57-44f0-a532-9124f119c820/

  19. The CFL can't pretend it's business as usual, this season (if it happens) will be in response to a crisis, teams won't have the funds to conduct business as they have in the past, therefore they need to find significant economies. Here's a few ideas to cut costs. Cut down preliminary expenses, CFL pre-season doesn't make any money so it's an obvious target, teams can't afford to bring in 85 players to tryout for 46 positions, that is obvious waste when you consider the cost of flying them in, feeding and housing them. Plus keeping players in quarantine will be more costly than usual and will put that many more players needlessly at risk only to eventually be cut. Cut training camp down to 2 weeks prior to the first game, scrap the 2 exhibition games and decide who's going to be on the team before T.C. even begins. Might suck if your team is caught up in the middle of a rebuild or just hired a new H.C....but hey we've got the Cup! 46 players + 10 reserve should be enough to start up, injury replacements can be brought in as needed during the season, not sure the point of keeping a PR squad in a shortened season, maybe cut that as well.....cuts need to be made.

Gotta hand it to Trump. He's actually killing off his base because they are too stupid to figure things out on their own. If there's a second wave, the country won't shut down, he vows. He advises to use hydroxycloroquine with no basis of fact it works on Covid 19 but has nasty side effects. Tries to blackmail Michigan dealing with the pandemic & a flood threatening to withhold federal funds during a dec;lared state of emergency & wants churches to reopen even in areas where the virus is still going strong. There are no words to describe this man other than absolute contempt. No wonder the US is mixed up & being torn apart at the seams with this guy offering no hope of leadership.

What is with these Trump Press Secretaries? Spicer The Mooch Sarah Sanders (who "wanted to be known as an honest person") And now this windup kepi doll, Kayleigh McEnany, who's tenure as WH Press Secretary started with the statement "I will never tell you a lie"....and has been all mighty uphill, since. After the Trumpet declaring that houses of worship were "essential" and urging governors to allow them to reopen. (Dems against Christ, or something) he walked off, without taking questions. She dismissed as "hypothetical'" reporters questioning what power Trump had to compel churches to reopen McEnany then called on Trump's favourite press galley stalking horse - Chanel Rion of One America News (OAN), who asked if Trump had considered pardoning former President Obama for the unfounded allegation that he wiretapped Trump Tower and other unspecified crimes. Then she whips out a series of prepared slides that included questions she wished the media had posed about the Flynn case, including why Flynn's identity was leaked to the press and why Flynn was "unmasked. Another press conference, that felt like watching Kabuki, in the English language. Pravda has nothing on these folks.....

  26. Manitoba allows Bombers to resume training, practising amid COVID-19 pandemic .... The following guidelines should be followed: • Continue to offer virtual instruction or training where possible • Individuals must use the self-screening tool before reporting to work and should stay home when ill • Individuals must be screened for symptoms prior to participation each day of the activity, and are not allowed to participate if they are ill with COVID-19 symptoms • If indoors, hand hygiene stations should be placed at the entrance and strategically throughout the facility • Shared equipment must be cleaned frequently. This can be done by participants, but staff should ensure this is being done regularly • Individuals are given information on social distancing. Indoor facilities must post signs indicating physical distancing guidelines • Ensure enhanced cleaning of indoor facilities, particularly washrooms • Encouraging individuals to shower at home and limit use of locker area • Removing any common use items from locker rooms • Posting signage for guidance on shower area use to maintain physical distancing • If locker rooms are used, consider modifying their use in order to maintain physical distancing • As well, a disinfectant spray or wipes should be available for participants to disinfect locker contact surfaces before and after use • Enhanced and frequent cleaning and disinfection of locker rooms will be required • Areas of congregation (e.g. team benches, pool edges) will require creative solutions to adhere to physical distancing guidelines. This can be done in consultation with provincial and national sport-specific COVID-19 guidance, where applicable .... The Bombers released a team statement following the announcement from the province: “We are encouraged by today’s news that professional sports facilities are permitted to reopen in MB as per guidance and direction of public health officials. We will however wait for final confirmation from CFL to allow teams to open their facilities.”
