    Covid-19

Historically, the IOC has a well established track record as one of the most corrupt entities on the planet. If they take a bath, fine with me.

    Covid-19

Its funny how a month ago people were talking about how shitty Canada is and blockading rail lines - wanting to #shutdowncanada - and others were whining about separating - because they're not making $600 a day anymore... now I hope all those same people are watching what's about to happen in the states... and thankful for the support and stability that we have here... We're very lucky to live in Canada - that's all I have to say

    Covid-19

Ex-pat Winnipeger, lived seven years on Vancouver Island, and the last 13 years in New Zealand. Starting tomorrow we are moving to our highest alert level for the whole country which means people instructed to stay home, schools closed, all businesses except essential services (e.g. supermarkets, pharmacies, medical services), and major limits on travel. This is expected to last at least four weeks. I’m a research scientist (non-academic) and we are now all working from home indefinitely, aside from a few exceptions. Our prime minister gave a very encouraging and well-received press conference to the country yesterday outlining what the plan is. Seeing the s***-show that’s going on in certain other countries, it’s really nice being in a country that has a plan, even if it will be a difficult few weeks.

Methinks it's going to be a good while. This situation worsens by the day and I can't see international travel for non-essential purposes resuming for quite some time. I'm just glad to see Canada take the lead with the Olympics as the IOC drags its heels looking incompetent and out to lunch.

  9. I think it's the proper time? Just to keep it interesting let's call it a Second Favourite Blue Bombers Memory and not include the 2019 Grey Cup victory. But, just in case you needed a reminder, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers won the 2019 Grey Cup. 😎

  14. Still at work. We are 3-4 people each have our own room to work out of. Going to do this as long as we can then will be able to work from home. Problem is most what we need to work is on network that we can't access from home so to be productive need to be in office.

Regarding Oympics, yeah it’s a ways off and I suspect things will largely be back to normal at least in terms of most activities (probably still a lot of work from home and hyper awareness to cleanliness). But that many people in close quarters and then going home all over the world is a recipe for another flare up. flatten it out by early summer. It likely flares up again in the winter. And hopefully they set a record for vaccine and other treatments.

  20. The day I became a serious Bomber fan. Matt Dunigan threw a 27 yard TD pass to Alfred Jackson on 3rd down, to erase a 5 point deficit on the last play of the game. I believe the year was ‘92, but I don’t remember who they were playing. I’ve been a diehard ever since.

  21. This is obscure but it was a regular season game against the Edmonton Eskimos in 1984. The Esks were a dynasty that had stopped some great Bomber teams every year for a decade or so. They seemed unbeatable. It was a show down for supremacy in the West, and we were behind a couple points late in the 4th Q. The D came on strong and forced an Edmonton punt from deep in their own end. I'll never forget Bob's play call..." Hank Ilesic back to punt....ITS BLOCKED...THIS COULD BE A TOUCHDOWN....AND IT IS.." I know...I know...one play in a regular season game from 1984? No man...that was the day we finally turned the corner and proved we could beat the Eskimos in an important game. We went on that year to win the Grey Cup and I think that game was the game that our guys really believed we could win it all and the Bombers dominance of the 80s began.

    2019-20 CFL Offseason

If the social isolation and non stop COVID news lasts until fall, we will see a horror movie worthy uptick of suicides and suicide attempts. The level of depression and anxiety in North America is already at danger levels. This cloud of negativity makes things worse and you are going to see a MASSIVE fallout if it lasts more than a couple months...

Cuomo has also stated that whatever happens "I'll take the blame" The contrast with Trump is on the surface, quite startling. Though, for people who have observed Trump for a while.....its no real surprise. No morals, no character, no leadership.

To be honest most leaders regardless of politics are there at least partially due to leadership skills. Pallister has been great, I agree. JT is demonstrating calmness and strength. Cuomo should be in the White House. Only one guy can’t rise to the occasion. The flaccid orange goblin.

  29. I'm curious how everyone's work/study life has changed during this time. I'm curious, if you're willing to share, what industry you're in and how your work has physically changed. If anyone is interested, I would do this poll weekly until the crisis is over and we get back to some semblance of normalcy.

Trump or no Trump, JPT has been an outstanding leader during this unprecedented mess. I'm generally on the fence about him, but throughout this ordeal, I've been VERY impressed. JPT and Deena Hinshaw are my two favourite people lately....Nenshi has been a solid voice, as well.

I'm sure it took much more than that but I'm nonetheless glad and proud that Canada took the lead in backing out and putting the world's priorities in the right order, unlike the craptacular IOC. What's still perplexing here is how the IOC seemingly continues to drag its feet: https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/tokyo-olympics-will-be-postponed-1.5506910 Seriously, make the right ******* call already.

Trump is a symptom. The right wing in the states has been priming the population for this type of president for a long time now. The next guy might not be a complete raging idiot, which would be far more terrifying.

For curiosity, I'm going to create a little poll about our current work situations. I wouldn't mind updating it each week as this plays out. I would like to know how many people are working/studying from home, working from the office/store/job site, are laid off... Those are the categories I have so far but am open to more suggestions? Thanks.

I almost feel bad for him that he doesn't realize that he is just the useful idiot for the republican party. The crazy right wing voters aren't loyal to him, they're loyal to the Republicans in power, whoever that may be, and Trump is going to be the most epic scapegoat for them. If only the Democrats hadn't sent their double agent to do these things!

  48. Well, considering that Mosca (a) told him to shove the peace offering flower up his ass, (b) swatted it away when offered it a second time, and (c) swung a metal cane at Kapp's face (and connected enough to knock his glasses off) in response to having a flower swatted in his face, he got what he deserved IMO.

There is a real possibility that Trump, with the support of the GOP, could use the COVID crisis to delay or void the pending presidential election in November. Given his utterances in the recent past and neo-fascist attitudes, it is not beyond reality.
