  1. Thank you for being instrumental in leading this team out of a dark place and playing a huge role in leading this team back to glory. I'm completely convinced we would not have developed the culture of success to be a perennial playoff team and winners of the Grey Cup this season without you. Wherever you go from here I will always be a fan of yours and wish you nothing but success (except against the Bombers). Signed, A lifelong Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan

  3. can never say enough good things about Matt Nichols the QB and Matt Nichols the person. On and off the field, he was a fantastic Bomber and Manitoban. Sad to see him go, and hope he has several years of success in football yet!

  4. I remember 2016 very well... the team was 1-4 (or about to be)... we were sitting in IGF and I said to my lifelong friend/fellow season ticket holder " I might be done, if this season continues like this, I don't think I'm coming back next year"... this was our 13th season has season ticket holders.... The next game in Edmonton, Matt Nichols was named as the starter over Drew Willy... a couple other changes were made too... Loffler started at S, Bond was moved to G and Hardrick at RT... and that started something different... that was the first day that the team became competitive and we finally saw the results of that last November... Long story short... without Matt Nichols I am confident that Mike O'Shea and Kyle Walters would no longer be employed by the Bombers and we would not have seen the drought end in November... for that, all Bombers fans owe Nichols a huge amount of gratitude... some people did not love Matt's play over the past 12-18 months... which is fair... but you can't deny that he was one of the major reasons this team is where it is today. Thank you Matt Nichols... all the best in the future...

  8. Yup, his contributions to making this a contending, and winning, team are gigantic. He stabilized the most important position and I will always be grateful of what he did here. He deserves tons of respect, and a giant standing ovation as soon as we get the chance

  12. We had the least Passing yards on the league... that’s a place for improvement

  13. Adams has spent his entire career playing with risk adverse Matt Nichols and he's essentially been a 1000 yard receiver throughout his career. I have no doubt he is capable of bigger "#1" numbers. Hopefully he's back and we'll see what happens under Collaros/Buck.

  14. I'm not ready to toss Darvin Adams aside. Not only does he already look rejuvenated as a pass catcher with Collaros, but he completely took Frankie Williams and Nick Marshall off their game during the Western Final and G.C.

  16. We went through a lot of rough years and witnessed some awful QB play in games that were pretty tough to watch prior to Nichols arrival. Matty Ice will be remembered as being instrumental in turning this team around. Looking forward to seeing him have success with the next team.

  17. Marshall Ferguson did some extensive digging and put out a thorough breakdown of Collaros' production through four games to cap off last season and the team's championship run. It's a great read: https://www.cfl.ca/2020/01/28/ferguson-breaking-collaros-2019-starts-winnipeg/ He didn't blow the lid off any game but he played smart and knew when to take his shots. It's still pretty remarkable how quickly he found chemistry with his receivers. Obviously, his health is of paramount importance. Keep him clean protected and I think there's good reason to feel very optimistic about what he (and this offense as a whole) can do in 2020, especially with a TC under his belt. 4,000 yards and 25-30 TDs would be nice to see.

  19. It's not about scoring touchdowns and winning games, it's about looking good. If you don't throw for 300 a game, you suck.

  20. Yeah for sure... I’d just say passing has room for improvement

  21. I agree with you Mark, but with some of our big losses to the NFL on the defensive side I'm not sure we can do anything to avoid there being some kind of drop off on that side of the ball. The good news is that there is LOTS of room for improvement on the offensive side and I think having Collaros as our #1 is a great start.

  22. Even in that dogshit Bellefeuille offense in 2015, he had 840 yards and 6 TDs. In 2016, he missed half the season with a shoulder injury. When he did play, he had just shy of 700 yards and 6 TDs (that's a torrid pace over a full season). 2017 was a monstrous season for him and that's probably the best offense we've seen on this team in ages. And despite the QB issues in 2018, he still eclipses 1,000 yards and scored 10 TDs. He's a hell of a blocker, he's got good hands, he picks up YAC yards consistently well, and his route running is solid. He's also got a bit of a nasty streak which is great for getting into opposing DBs' heads. (see: 2019 playoffs) Adams can ball. I sure hope the team can keep him if at all possible.

  23. Team game, but the defence carried the team to the final win..... I think they don't need to do much on O, but have to make sure the D doesn't drop off. Whatever that takes, D line, or D back. They seem to have a lot of good championship level players already. Both sides of the ball. But getting Collaros is great.

  24. Not sure this was that complicated.... Zack was very eager to sign here Way more mobility and escapeability than Nichols More ability to improvise Walked into a new team cold and helped deliver a Cup Still some rumbles about the state of Nichols throwing shoulder

  29. was noted today that as soon as the release was announced, Nichols agent immediately had calls from both Ottawa and Toronto. He'll be the Day 1 starter for one of those teams. He said on Twitter that he's ahead of schedule in his rehab and will be ready for the start of the season.

  30. My understanding is that the FDA has been forced to work under a different set of rules for supplements. IE drugs and food additives are obligated to show some reasonable research to show safety (not always accurate but at least something) but in the case of supplements the FDA is obligated to show product is not safe. Putting the burden of proof on the regulator and holding the budget of the regulator down to prevent the testing means profits for some people. Pretty much someone has to die before the FDA can act on supplements. Similarly certain not to be named MLM's continue to operate because of financial regulatory capture and being politically connected. So buyer beware. I am also afraid for my football heros when it comes to pain killers. No more debbie downer post for me for a while. I am still enjoying end of the drought. I smile every time I see the grey Cup championship t shirt my future son in law gave me.

  31. Walker made $250,000 last season, how much less is he going to accept to sign with the Bombers? They sign Walker, they're spending Willie or Strev's money to do so.

  33. Holy crap Batman! Collaros was a major factor in getting to and winning the GC. We've seen that you can't win without a great QB and the money and structure of the contract is a moot point. Smarter minds than any of us who are familiar with the minute intricacies of CFL contracts are OK with it. So why are we questioning it?

  34. Part of the QB thing getting done quickly too was to re-up a couple guys they have been talking already before free-agency starts....I wouldn't be surprised if we hear this week or next an extension for Nevis and Adams....with no effect on Willie money, as Kyle said they have money set aside for him as it stands as they have a pretty good idea what they will need, so they know pretty much what they have to work with for re-upping and free-agency Honestly all i see us doing is targeting an established DB...be it an import, or guy who is National who can assume the safety role, possibly a high end Canadian D LINE guy who can start, one or the other as a "big ticket" and most likely a National guy for ST's and to fill in roster holes...

    Collaros signs 2 year deal

Letting either Nichols and/or Collaros get exposed to Free Agency is a big gamble in itself, but the uncertainty surrounding the QB position would have been amped up, and that’s not really something we need at this point. Besides, Walters made it very clear they wanted to get a salary figure for the QB position as soon as possible so they know the range of their salary commitments and the effect it has on pursuing free agents...especially our own, like Jefferson. The sooner they know about Jefferson, the better. It all clears a path to plan for whom they will pursue. It all starts at QB.

  37. From my memory the day he started with us we also saw a massive improvement from the o-line on top of Nichols getting the ball out early. With Willy he seemed shell shocked and the o-line succccccked and he kept hanging on to the ball and getting drilled. Pre first injury Nichols was really good, confident, would throw the ball down the field more often and definitely gave the receivers a chance for making plays. He will be remembered in a positive light similar to Kevin Glenn.

In all of this, let's not forget what horrible piece of excrement Bolton is. He's a war monger and that was unfit for any role in government. So naturally, Trump hired him. Bolton is so loathsome that he was going to fight any subpoena to testify in front of Congress, while writing a tell-all book on the whole situation. He wanted the money first.

  41. Adam's brings a lot...I'd hate to see him go and yea he brings an edge to the group and is a killer blocker Not sure if many of you noticed but he ditched the knee brace in game 17 I believe and from that point was pretty damn effective and dangerous..pretty sure he was playing less than 100 percent up till then and a bit tentative

  42. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t believe a wr is a huge need on the list. Not to say they shouldn’t sign one but I could think of others. They have their Canadian wrs locked up, plus lawler, and Bailey/whitehead/Nelson fighting for the slot. That leaves on wr position open. With some of the recruits coming in, I think money could be spent elsewhere.

  44. I don't think you have anything to worry about in that regard. When my son was a high school qb here in Calgary hack in 2008 & 09 he went to a couple of Dave Dickenson passing Academy camps in back to back years. Pete worked with the receivers those 2 years while Dave worked with the qbs. He was a hard working coach who stayed in the background. Dave always had good things to say about him. From everything I've heard about the guy that is what he is about. Great assistant coach & team guy.

  48. At what point do we start giving Kyle Walters the benefit of the doubt?... he's been the man for over 6 years now and in that time he has proven to be a shrewd and intelligent cap manager... I see no reason to believe Kyle would sign a contract that puts the team in a bad situation... The best thing about this deal is it gives the team two more years to work on McGuire and (hopefully) Streveler to get the heir apparent ready...
