  2. Just watched Picard... it is really good. Well written, wonderfully acted and the cinematography is crazy good. I have no qualms about this episode at all. It is very rewarding for fans of ST:TNG and the movies with that crew- lots of fan service without crossing over to be pandering... there is a warm feeling of nostalgia- like picking up and opening a favourite book that you haven't read in forever. This is a return to a Star trek that is cerebral, introspective and asks us to evaluate our moral values. My entire family watched it and to a tee, the all enjoyed it.

  6. I mean ... our star player last year was a guy who is not in the NFL because he loved hanging out asleep with Josh Gordon in Taco Bell drive thrus, we just signed a guy who had a run of making drunk driving a hobby and the funniest part is you keep going on like “The Trinity” would never entertain the idea of bringing in MBT ... except the Bombers are the team that brought him into this league to begin with ...

  8. Personel-wise, for me, that D ranks right up there with the best I have ever seen on a roster in my +50 years of watching CFL football. It wasn't just the Grey Cup game either. Those performances at season's end in Winnipeg, Calgary and Regina were right up there too. If Walters gifts Hall with a team like that again in 2020 I'll be expecting a similar result.

  9. Lucky wont pull a Kenbrell Thomkins..he knows he has an opportunity to seize and I bet he comes back more polished..if he gets to work outta the slot and hit line in full tilt then one subtle move and he's behind the secondary.. if anything that will spread out the defence and give other guys room. Lapo never used him like that..was generally hitches and short outs and the odd slant..for most part all his touches had him static..and he had to search for the seam and juke out multiple guys. The times we did use him down the rail or on a deep route he always was in behind coverage and gone if the QB could have hit him. Go watch back games there are at least 4 or 5 I can recall as just missed.. some where he layed his arse right out trying to get them..no lack of effort on his part or fault of his they didnt connect

  10. I've had a subscription for a couple of years now. The writing is top notch. As far as sustainability, there was some recent news on its capital/financial situation: https://www.axios.com/the-athletic-fundraising-round-series-d-e7026194-ccc7-4ec2-8415-6b8902c9a11a.html To date, they are still losing money, but apparently they expect that to turn to profit in the current year: I go mainly for the NHL coverage, but there is a bit of CFL coverage as well. All the other major sports are covered extensively.

Just got to my hotel in Orlando. Cruise was excellent. Lots of fun, lot and lots of alcohol. I think my liver has onions, now. Cruise set sail from Miami with a Fozzy concert to kick off the festivities. Followed by un-televised aew matches. Sat front row for Talk is Jericho podcast featuring the nWo. Unfortunately, nash and xpac both canceled. Scott hall and Eric bischoff discussed a lot about the formation of the nWo and how it all came together. DDP and booker T were on the panel to talk about what wcw was like for the guys outside the nWo. And Jericho as well. It should be up on spotify soon. Waters were very for this cruise. Wives went to bed sea sick. My buddy and i proceeded to get hammered. Rode the elevator up to the bar with scott hall. Really cool guy. Day 2 was the aew taping. The boat docked in the Bahamas. We didn't get off. Wives were still sick and decided they didn't want to stand for 8hrs to secure our ringside standing spots, so we opted for second level spots with a great view and chairs. Met some great people. There were 2 24/7 titles floating around. I held both for a few minutes before losing to small children. Gotta get a better ground game. Also went to Talk is Jericho Featuring jake the snake. Really interesting. The man is very open about past indiscretions and doesn't hold back. He's an excellent storyteller and i recommend listening to that podcast. Day 3 we checked out Light the Torch, Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage's new project. Im a metal guy, so i really liked them. Also saw Farewell to fear, a hard rock group from new Orleans, also very good. Watched more wrestling on the main deck. Probably saw my favorite match ever. Private Party vs Jurassic Express. The boys have a lot more freedom on the boat and really flexed some comedic muscle. My sides hurt after the match from laughing so hard. Day 4 was pretty chill. Went to a few signigs and photo sessions. Got bored of that and went to the hottub. Hung out with ref Aubrey. Super nice girl. Saw a couple comedy shows too. Bruce jingles sucks. Craig gass is awesome. Missed gabriel Iglesias. Watched the final matches on the boat. Cody gave a nice promo thanking the fans. Drowned our sorrows in alcohol because we knew it was almost over. All in all, it was great. We'll book again. Any questions, ask away.

  16. He played beside Hardick here as he was a RG, correct? He had Foucault for the majority of this season with the Lions & he's one of the worst starting OL in the CFL. He left a good thing here for a huge contract in BC. Decision was his.

Fondly remembered as the guy who promised to never unite the Conservatives with the Western right wingers, then immediately united the Conservatives with the western right wingers. also liked Helicopter rides if I remember correctly...... and fell hard for a hot rich babe. I'm guessing Harper told Rhona to bow out, Harper will back room rule through Peter, and Cons will lose again with another Harper holdover.

Little snow, but it was also cold as balls that day. The 25 or so of us the stands were really bundled up.

  25. I think they went with Fever because of the weather conditions. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t there heavy snow that last game against Calgary? I think they just thought because of his ability to run he fit the offense best that week. I don’t think it was necessarily anything to do with Davis.

  31. Disagree. He was quite good on punts. Not all going to be big returns or TD's. He was reliable which is key. Grant is better especially if he comes back having worked on ball control and snagging punts. Nelson also brings a lot of value with his work covering kicks as a DI/extra import if we keeping rolling with 8 Canadian starters.

  32. Nelson was a better returner then Whitehead and had better hands at receiver. Maybe and hopefully Whitehead wasn't used properly and he can become our own Banks (minus the whining)

The democrats are a centre - right party. What the good old usa needs is an NDP equivalent. Then you get some real choice and you don't have an extreme right party pulling everyone to the right as opposed to a pull towards centre.

  40. You can't talk GOAT without including this guy. He anchored the Bombers OL at LT & was an All Canadian 6 times, four with us. To me, Walby, Bryant & Frank were the 3 best tackles who ever played. Aldag was a guard but Frank looked after every qb's back he protected from Wally Gabler to Don Jonas to Chuck Ealey to Dieter Brock. http://www.cfhof.ca/members/bill-frank/

  46. I had forgotten about this game & in reality it was my all time favourite. Here are some of my thoughts about it. August, 1969. Winnipeg Stadium. The Saskatchewan Roughriders vs the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Bombers had just traded superstar running back Dave Raimey to the Argos the week before. The Bombers had hoped that 1968's highly touted rookie qb John Schneider would begin to show potential to become the team's long term starter replacing Ken Ploen who had retired after the 1967 season. However, Schneider struggled mightily in 1968 behind a porous OL. The reality was that other than Raimey & flanker Ken Nielsen there was little or no talent to speak of surrounding him to get the ball to. In those days, Neither individual teams or the CFL kept track of the number of sacks teams gave up. Had they done so, the Bombers would have led the league by a wide margin in that category. Schneider's stats in 1968 showed that he threw almost 3 1/2 times as many picks (28) than TD passes (8) & his completion percentage was well under half at 44.8%. The fans had turned on Schneider & his confidence was shot. NFL veteran Don Weiss was the backup to Schneider. Rick Cassata the third string qb (another rookie) got very little playing time in 1969 throwing one pass. Casatta was eventually cut only to be picked up by the Ottawa Rough Riders where he led them to a Grey Cup victory in 1973 (That figures). The Bombers started the 1969 season on July 29th with a disastrous home opening 33-0 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos. A game where Schneider went 3 of 10 for 13 yards. Schneider played so badly that he was pulled at halftime & the veteran Weiss went in to mop up but hardly fared any better. The next day he was cut & the John Schneider era sadly came to a merciful end. The Bombers returned the favour by beating the Esks 14-13 in Edmonton a week later on August 4th under the guidance of Don Weiss at qb. The Bombers then lost the following week in Toronto on August 14th. But before the game, superstar running back Dave Raimey, who had grown tired of playing for a losing team publicly blasted the Bomber organization in the local Winnipeg media outlets claiming the team wasn't committed to doing what it took to build a winner. As well as saying Joe Zaleski & his staff were lousy coaches. Raimey demanded a trade to a winning team. However, in his book, "Goodbye Leo" , Argos Head Coach Leo Cahill claimed that when the Bombers played the Argos at CNE Stadium on August 14th, the Bombers ran a running play with Raimey going out of bounds at the Argos bench. The 2 had a quick conversation that went something like this: Raimey: "I wanna play here, Coach." Cahill: "We're working on a trade to get you here." Raimey: "What? Really?" Cahill: "Yeah. In the works." Then Raimey excitedly ran back to the huddle knowing his days as a Bomber were numbered. A day or two later, the trade was consumated. Going west to the Bombers was Argos veteran qb Wally Gabler (who was now the backup to Tom Wilkinson) with Raimey going east to Toronto. The Bombers were desperate to find a qb who could start & win. They felt that they had their man in Wally Gabler. It was a trade not only made out of desperation but also out of necessity as Raimey had embarrassed the Blue Bombers & especially GM Earl Lunsford with his comments to the media. That was something Lunsford would not tolerate with his Oklahoma temper & Raimey knew the consequences of his actions were coming.. On August 27, 1969 after less than a week of practice, Gabler started for the team & directed the 1-3 Blue Bombers to a huge 16-14 win over the first place 4-0 Saskatchewan Roughriders. The win drew some much needed life into a team that would struggle the rest of the 1969 season by finishing dead last in the CFL at 3-12-1. However, for that one game, Wally Gabler was magical in defeating the first place Riders. I remember how big a deal that victory was that night & how for the week following Gabler owned this town. That & the fact that was my very first Blue Bomber game I had ever attended. I was 14 years old & man was I hooked. After the game my friend & I ran onto the grass field at Winnipeg Stadium trying to tackle one another... hooting, hollering & screaming along with hundreds of other kids while the players were going back to their locker rooms. What. A. Great. Memory!

  47. I have a Don Matthews story. I was a volunteer at CJUM FM in 1978 when I was a student at the U of M. I was sent to a news conference the day before the Bombers hosted the Eskimos during that season. I was the last guy to interview Esks Head Coach Hugh Campbell as I wanted to hear what the other media people were asking before my turn. Plus I was a rookie & a little nervous so I didn't want to just jump in there. Started interviewing Campbell & Matthews kept interrupting in the background yelling, "Let's Go Coach!! Let's go!! Everytime he did that I had to stop my tape recorder & start over. This happened about 3 times until one of the media people there told him to be quiet & knock it off. Gotta say that Campbell knew I was doing this as a volunteer & not being paid & he gave me some really good answers to probably some bad questions. That was Matthews though. The Don. Interviewed Ray Jauch & he was gracious & helpful as well.

  48. Here's my Dieter Brock memory. First I have to be honest that Dieter Brock has been and will be one of my favourite WBB's. Dieter and Joe Pop will and always will be the top two WBB's in my heart. So, it was about this time of year and it must have been 1980 (I think). Some buddies and I were playing football in the green space between Park Blvd in Tuxedo. All of a sudden a car stops and Dieter Brock walks out and says "how ya'll doin"? Well I almost fell over. My football hero was walking towards us and he had his hands out like he wanted the football. So my buddy flipped him the ball and said, "who wants to go long". One of my friends just started to run and Dieter through a perfect pass but of course he dropped it. He then spent about 20 minutes just throwing the ball around with one of us playing receiver and the other DB. He said he wouldn't throw too hard because our mom's would kill him if he hurt us. I caught two balls that day from him and eventhough he said he was taking some velocity off his throws. They still hurt like a *****. He would have stayed longer but he was meeting some guys for dinner and he couldn't be late or they'd make him pay. That's my Dieter Brock story and I haven't told it for probably 20 years or more. Great guy, great football player and one of my football heros.
