  1. I'm not worried about what the fans think. No one here is playing the game.

Collaros has definitely played better than Nichols in the last two games. Nichols hasn't even completed a pass since August.

Hmm, I'll take your word for it but there are a few comments on here that have an elitist leaning. Pretty weird if you ask me, seeing as we are all just a bunch of super fans who want to discuss our team. On another note, while I never posted here before I sure am glad there's a place to spend all my free time talking Bombers. It's the freaking playoffs and we just beat the Stamps in Calgary and are about to do the same to the Riders in Regina in less than a week. Life is good.

I think Strev knows that, and I also believe he isn't going to explore going anywhere else to be honest...this team (players) already respects the hell out of him and will go through a wall for him...as he would for them, and even though he has been on again off again starter, and still a work in progress...everyone in the huddle on both sides of the ball know this is his team...he solidified that in the WSF....

The discussions here are far, FAR better with a lot more people who "get it". We have football people here.. Guys who've played the game, coached the game... Just really understand it. It's not just a bunch of "Yay local sports team" (okay, iHeart... But they don't count for anything..) type people. I feel the discussions here are, for the most part, more intelligent... Nuanced....

  9. And an old school rivalry. Bombers have won 10 (3rd) grey cups, Cats 8 (4th). Blue have played in 24 (1st) cups, Cats 20 (4th). Neither has hoisted the trophy in this century. However through history each team has played the other 9 occasions for the championship. I grew up with the Cats Bomber battling. For me, the cats and bombers is the patented Canadian Grey Cup match up. Wouldn’t mind seeing both make it to the dance again. Oops. I was in diapers when I first started watching the duel. Maybe it’s irony I could be watching in diapers again.

  11. Just wanted to say that I'm pumped for the win and the West Final. It was so satisfying to see the Stamps lose at home and the bewildered face on Bo Levi. I think we've got an excellent chance to win in Regina on Sunday! Go Blue!

  15. I post on both...enjoy both equally and don't really notice a real difference...the one thing that I notice at the other forum is that there are more fans there who are just that fans...and don't have extensive football knowledge or back ground in it, but are hard core fans, and they use the forum as an avenue to learn and educate themselves, and seem appreciative for it Here you have some savy vets of the game in varying degrees, which leads to a bit more intense and at times heated discussion, and a bit more mud slinging, but I find that fun and entertaining and rarely offensive in any way...if yiou can dish it...you gotta be able and expect to take it right back

  16. I'd like to believe that those of you with 20/20 hindsight knew all along that this was the master plan but I ain't buying it. I think that if Nichols hadn't been injured we'd be suffering through the dump offs, throws out of bounds, and sacks after holding the ball too long just like in years past. I think it's far more likely that after being forced to use Streveler this season that it was determined that he had some usefulness used in tandem with the new guy, Collaros, and that's what we're seeing now.

That's why I put it up Mark, just trying to give you a chance for you to clear the air. FTR, I have been a long time member at both sites and enjoy the forum community of both sites. Each has their own individual redeeming qualities. It is unfortunate that on the occasion that many lost their forum and came looking for a new one after a big playoff win that the message they were met with was an attack on their football IQ. Most of the guys like Goldmember etc were original members at TEP, many with post totals in the tens of thousands over there. You can see how they might take an attack on the intelligence level of that forum personally. As a long time member here I know that is not your or Rich's intent so I am glad you have taken the time to let the guys, who don't know who the alpha dogs are, know what this forum's real thoughts are.

  19. Colour me shocked. The Bombers win and Captain Contrarian goes for the old tried and true "BLM played a bad game." TBurg is going to be the saddest Bomber fan in the world if we win the Cup. Of course, if we do, it will only happen because the other teams played badly.

  30. This West final is shaping up into a similar situation as last years West Semi when we went into Sask and ran for 201 yards and held a 5 min T.O.P advantage. But I think this year this team is better built for this playoff style...Harris is not as banged up..Nichols was playing with a couple ailments, and our defense wasn't as good as this year, and we didn't have Jefferson which will be huge I'd be shocked if we didn't roll up the same amount of rushing yards, if not more as going in this year we have a motivated QB whom I am certain wants to stick it to the Rider's and his ability to push the ball downfield will open up more running lanes, and once the ground and pound gets going in a game it is really hard to stop it and it's really demoralizing on a defense.. We are as healthy as you could want, save for Strev's foot but that didn't seem to stop him, almost spurned him on even more, so if the guys lay it all on the line we win...because across the board there is more talent (and depth) wearing blue than Green and thats not just looking through blue glasses..anyone who thinks otherwise isn't a very good judge of talent

No they are not. They are just more familiar for you. The football IQ is every bit as high at TEP. Does TEP have more fan boys...sure...I'll give you that. Because the traffic is much higher at TEP you get a lot of new, and fringe posters and this forum does have a much better mechanism for discouraging dumb posts but it is massively incorrect to assume that people here know more than over there. There are many great and knowlegable posters at TEP.

    Did You Know..

They didnt and cant handle our run..or oline ..we had 186 on ground in game with augustine in for Harris...195 on ground in banjo bowl..and 116 in final game where we only ran it 21 times..that of the piss poor game plan we employed that game So we ran for 497 yards in 3 games..and see more of the same in WF..especially now they have to respect the pass I wouldn't be surprised to see close to 200 on ground..if not eclipsing 200

  37. There are plenty of "old people to Canada" who don't wear poppies. Why are they immune to the rant. Even worse for them because they grew up being taught the history and significance. If the rant was about "people" not wearing poppies, I don't think the same outrage would be there.

  38. I am happy to stick around here long-term. To be perfectly honest, whenever I would lurk, the discussion often seemed slow and/or mirrored the discussion of the other forum and so I never felt the need to read what essentially was the same conversation happening over there. I am always happy to meet and interact with new fans, though.

How come none of you are this hardcore? As Bombers advance, long-suffering fan hopes to end 18-year-long no pants pledge Chris Matthew says he's not getting ready to put on pants just yet, but remains hopeful https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/winnipeg-blue-bombers-no-pants-pledge-1.5355880 With the Winnipeg Blue Bombers advancing to the West Division final against Saskatchewan, could this be the end of Bomber fan Chris Matthew's 18-year-long pledge to not wear pants until his beloved team clinches the cup? Despite seeing the team advance in the CFL playoffs, he says he's not getting ready to switch out of his shorts just yet. The Bombers head to Regina for next Sunday's West final against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, after beating the Calgary Stampeders 35-14 in Sunday's West Division semifinal. The victor there will represent the West in the Grey Cup in Calgary on Nov. 24. Winnipeg's Janarion Grant, centre, runs the ball as Calgary Stampeders' Riley Jones closes in during the Bombers' 35-14 win on Sunday to advance to the West final. (Jeff McIntosh/Canadian Press ) In November 2001, Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan Chris Matthew made a casual bet when he thought his beloved team was sure to win the Grey Cup. Still wearing shorts in November, he said he'd switch to pants after the Bombers clinched the cup. "So ever since, I've been in shorts," he said. The only time Matthew will put pants on is if he has to go to a funeral — where the family doesn't know about the bet. "If they know about the shorts, I'll still wear shorts to a funeral," he said. 'They could beat anybody' The Bombers haven't taken home the Grey Cup since 1990 — the same year Nelson Mandela was released from prison. The World Wide Web wasn't even a thing yet. Despite his team being one step closer to the cup, he said they've let him down too many times for him to get too excited just yet. "If they play as well as they did yesterday, they could beat anybody," he said. Chris Matthew says he'll even wear shorts to a funeral if the family knows about his pledge. (Gary Solilak/CBC) "If they don't win, I'm fine. I've lived with this now for almost 20 years, I can continue, it's not that big a deal. For their sake and for the sake of every other Bomber fan, I'd like to see them win." His wife, Darla, says she's past the point of caring. "I don't care. He likes it, and I know that win or lose, he likes the shorts. And he complains, but I think he loves the attention," she said. "We have been walking down the street when it's cold out. and I have a fur coat, and he's in shorts, and people stare. And I just assure them, yes, he's an idiot." If you're looking to charter a bus to Regina for the big game, that might be tough on short notice, says Allan Mellon with All Road Tours. If you do, Mellon's advice is to get insurance, and make sure it's registered properly. "Since the Humboldt incident, people are weary of who they travel with. There are reputable companies in Winnipeg, just do your homework," he said. "My suggestion if you want to go to Regina ... jump in your car. Finding a bus would be very difficult." As for Matthew, he says he's saying put. "First of all, it's Regina, and I'd have to sit outside, in the cold, in my shorts, and I'm not gonna do that."

See this is what I mean... collaros isn't generating any more yards per game than Nichols did AND throws more dangerous balls. Yet people act like he is amazaballs out there. He is running the blue bombers offense, just like matt Nichols did, just like streveler does (though more running from streveler)

  42. Absolute terrible article, that person should be ashamed of writing that piece of garbage. Don Cherry is old and out of touch, but to **** on him when he's down is cowardly. For a man who apparently was so terrible and hated back in the day.... it's odd that many years back their was a massive backlash of when CBC was going to let him go and move on. Jeeze these people sure like to re-write history and criticize people during different eras. Cherry will be remembered as Canadian hockey royalty, this hack job journalist will get a few hits from modern day snowflakes and will never amount to anything.

    What a story...

Got to feel somewhat rewarded as bomber fans.. In many prior years this game wouldn't have gone our way. Nice to feel somewhat hopeful in the playoffs. and what a great story with Collaros facing his former team in the playoffs! I like the Bombers chances too. Lets follow Mr Osheas cue and go 1-0 this week. One at a time fellas. Congrats to the die hards, the coaching staff who did all the right things against Calgary, and the players who laid it on the line and came through for us. Bring on the west finals..
