I can't believe I'm reading hate for Strev... Christ sakes. He was a warrior tonight. Needs a wheelbarrow to carry his balls in. Had some tough drops that didn't help. Curious to see how bad his ankle is...

  4. Streveler can barely walk on the sidelines. How do you put him back in as head coach?
    6 points
  5. All the QB comments aside, and I’m a Streveler fan like most, this comes down to coaching plain and simple. Streveler has been with the team for 2 years and has been given little opportunity to develop his throwing abilities. Buck pierce was a Streveler run first pass second so how would one think he could develop his passing game. And if memory is correct pierce wasn’t that great a passer either. Then you have the game plan being practiced week in week out....short pass game very few long balls little time to develop chemistry with receivers outside 10 yards and no development on timing ie throwing to a spot where the receiver is supposed to be. So from a coaching perspective little developmental input hence little development. Another point that has been mentioned here, why did the coaches risk Streveler’s career and health seeing what we all saw....a guy who could barely walk let alone run ! Any sensible coach would have taken him out whether he wanted to or not the first time he could hardly get up! Why do you have backups dressed....to look pretty? I blame O’Shea first and Lapo second...regardless of what Streveler said he should have been taken out and replaced by either of the others. and finally why did Harris only get 12 touches running the ball.it certainly says something about the game plan when the QB has more rushing attempts and more yards than the leading rusher in the league! oh well maybe next year!

  6. I will tell you this: is everyone on this team had the heart and will that Streveler and Harris have (Including the coordinators) they'd probably never lose a game. Just can not see Streveler ever succeeding with a guy like Lapo running the offense for him. He is too much a competitor to play in that passive bullcrap game Lapo loves. He needs someone like khari who will give him the green light to be aggressive and force the issue. That's just the kind of guy Streveler is. play it safe isn't his thing.

  8. Guys .. you should know by now I don’t step in often (I let you sort things out amongst yourselves for the most part) but I’ll ask that we *try* to keep discussion on the game / team and away from each other. I know it’s hard, I’m as frustrated as anyone, but your help here would be greatly appreciated.

  11. Coaches are paid to win championships & O'Shea hasn't come close. Regular season wins are nice but it's more than that. A culture of winning is needed as well. Winning is expected because they actually do it. No pretenders. At some point, a lack of post season wins is going to cost O'Shea his job here. Unless he leaves first.

  12. Are they garbage or are they not put in a position to succeed? I’m honestly not sure, but I see a ton of 5-7 yard curl routes for our receivers. Limited to no threat of an intermediate to long throw, and those plays are tough to be successful with. The passing game is definitely broken and it’s not likely on any one person or position group.

    1. Streveler 2. Harris 3. Sayles HH Jake Thomas People, this team is not done. They had some unfortunate and inopportune penalties that kept the Stamps on the field and resulted in points. A QB and a team that fight this hard are going to make some noise yet.

  14. You'd think looking at what Nichols put up against the shitty teams vs Strev vs the good ones and the difference being 1 drop most games in terms of passing yards... Youd think ppl would get its not the QB.. Its the Design of the lap O.

  15. This game, as intense as it was to the final seconds... perfectly summarizes the Bombers’ infuriating season. They’re a first half team. All three phases contribute to building a lead. Then after halftime they get buried production-wise and the game slips away. So the talent is there for the most part. The play calling is so painfully inept that we as fans can predict them almost without fail - so imagine how easy it’s become for opponents to anticipate! How can a team go from dominating (or at least being extremely competitive) in first halves, to either barely hanging on or totally blowing it? Comes down to coaching. Throw in some questionable roster management (see: Rasheed Bailey and Geoff Gray as exhibits A & B ) and the result is that our most recent best chance at a championship is halfway down the drain.

  16. As far as Streveler goes, let’s be clear. He wasn’t great again tonight but put up the standard 220 yards of offence. If anyone thinks Nichols puts up appreciably more than that, or the result is any different, I don’t know what to tell you.

  22. Lapolice is in his 10th season as a primary play caller in the CFL. Exactly once he has coached a top 3 passing offense, and that was his first year in 2002 when Milt had the best season by a receiver in CFL history. Doesn't matter what collection of players he has. At some point the guy has to go from being a "genius" to a guy who can't make an offense work, and can't figure out how to utilize talent week after week.

Does anyone seriously think that the Bombers are going to do anything in the playoffs? come on. imagine O'Shea job interview for head coach of another team. Q. How long were you head coach of the Bombers? A. six years Q How many playoff games was the team in over that time? A. three. Q Did you win any playoff games? A. one. in six years. Mike: I'd like to submit this letter of recommendation from someone who goes by the bomber forum handle 17 to 85! Interviewer: thanks very helpful! I see he's listed many reasons why this lack of success is in no way related to you! And that's all I know to know, you're hired! I think people here like O'Shea cause he's a Canadian head coach, and they desperately want to see that work. All the other stuff is just word play, stat jumbling, and excuse making. Nothing is ever on O'Shea for some people. silly.

I thought that one of the things you admired about Streveler and made him so much better than Nichols was that he was "tough" and a warrior. Now you're bitching about O'Shea because he left in his QB. Plus I can't see any scenario where Mike O'Shea would put in a player if the player or training staff said he was too injured to play. You guys know it but aren't willing to admit it. You guys love to spin things to fit you're personal biases or agendas.

  25. BLM was really on his passing game. Aside from the obvious open receivers, he put the ball where it had to be several times with deadly accuracy. That includes that TD pass that Rios was covering. Rios played that well but you can throw that ball a dozen times and not come close to a reception. Except tonight. Overall LaPo called a good game but some of his plays (ex. Screens) need to be chucked. Horrible designs. And so predictable. This game was like two big boys going at it, with the hometown favourite prevailing in the end. Smash mouth football with two good teams. But our D looked susceptible. That has to be fixed over the next game and bye week. Streveler was used..finally, and it paid off, but there is no way he should have gone back in to try and win the game. McGuire, the better passer, should have finished the game. Speaking of McGuire, he should start the next game, and I’m not kidding. Streveler is beat up and needs the rest. McGuire can finally have some game time in a game that essentially means nothing. We’re finishing 3rd so let’s see what we have at QB. Sent from my iPad

  26. So McGuire comes in today and because he's such a great thrower he overthrows Lucky on a deep shot down the sideline but last week, Streveler hits Adams in the hands on a deep shot which he drops and it's Streveler that can't throw so now we're hooped. I'm struggling with the logic in this. I saw Lawler and Whitehead each with drops today. Is that on Streveler too? I saw Begelton and Rogers with drops today also. I guess that means Mitchell sucks too and Calgary is hooped.

Oshea on why he doesn't go for 2 like the other team: "Well, they're just doing that to try to get you to chase the points early...No, we've got our formula and we'll stick with that." Yeah, how'd that work out for ya, Mike?

Watching O'Shea's comments postgame reinforces the view that he cannot be HC here next year. 1) he admitted he has no clue what's going on on offence. 2) his explanation of why Bombers don't go for 2 pt converts is ridiculous. 3) his comments about Streveler's in-game health also are ridiculous. 4) surprised no one asked why he challenged Jeffcoats RP penalty.

I wasn't specifically referring to you, moreso to the point you were making to the poster that you were quoting. I don't think any fingers should be pointed towards essentially a rookie QB that really shouldn't be in this situation yet, I think it's more an issue that management hasn't addressed.
