  1. I'll bite. Let's compare apples to apples shall we? Not what an 8 year vet has accomplished compared to a guy who has less than a full season of playing time under his belt. Through Nichols first 23 games with Edmonton (Streveler has been in 24): 270 / 443 (60.9% completion rate) for 3386 (12.5 yards per completion) with 19 TDs and 18 interceptions. He added 36 carries for 138 yards (3.8 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns Streveler by comparison: 224 / 347 (64.5% completion rate) for 2564 yards (11.44 yards per completion) with 18 TDs and 17 interceptions. He added 182 carries for 1089 yards (5.7 yards per carry) and 22TDs See .. stats are fun! šŸ˜‰

  2. Pretty sure with a blown shoulder, Nichols is not the best QB we have right now.

  4. After watching Kilgore and O'Brien, i would get on the ground and thank the football gods for Streveler!

  5. Strevler can throw..not sure why people are on this cant throw train..but when u have minimal practice reps with deeper balls..and chemistry with your receivers.. u get ups and downs...as the game has slowed for him and he has been less panicky and high strong.. his passing gas improved and he has a pretty good completion percentage last several games..give it time..he is basically gaining experience and instinctive reaction tendancies now as most other guys have gathered throughout 4 years of college and first year or 2 of pro..his only being a true QB and a starter at that for basically 3 years now has him behind the curve a bit..and this is huge..all things considered he is developing pretty good in this bizzare offence..and really should have a winning record as a starter this year if we didnt give 2 of his starts away

  7. No one wants to have a conversation with a guy acting like an A-hole. NicktheSizz wants to have a pecker measuring contest, most adults will decline the invitation. Not because they fear they don't measure up, but because it is juvenile.

  8. Always find it funny when armchair experts cone on and demand that their opinions be discussed as if their musings are just so darned insightful. It might not be a lack of "balls" that stops people from talking with you. Maybe, they just don't care what you think.

  9. Stop trolling. No one said he was capable of taking us to the Grey Cup. I normally deal with stuff in PM, but Iā€™m sick and tired of it.

  10. where was it said he was? Seeing an awful lot of junk and trolling these days. Really hope we see mods clean up the forum. Jury is out and probably will be for another year or more. Hes young and raw. We shouldnt rush him like the leos did with jennings. As long as he is getting better thats what is important.

  11. Yes that is clear indication. SMH. Not going to argue whether he is actually good at reading the field and passing the ball (he seems like he's always getting better). But wasn't the play selection fairly similar with Nichols? I seem to recall a lot of running the football. It's not Streveler's fault that he gives us another option running the ball.

  14. You pee yourself due to his hatred of the Riders?!

  15. I read a post over on the rider site complaining about our attendance at the Als game. What kind of low life does this after the storm we went through. I for one am getting sick and tired of holier than thou rider fans telling other cities are beneath them in the CFL hierarchy. The riders are the only game in town! Of course they are going to get tremendous support, there is nothing else to spend your entertainment dollar on! Letā€™s hope the Bombers meet them in the playoffs and lay a beat down on them prairie pumpkins!

    Did You Know..

The team record that Chris Streveler 'broke' dates back to 1956. John 'Buddy' Leake gained 633 yards rushing that year. Buddy Leake was a starting HB for all 16 games in 1956 and also served as the backup QB to Eagle Day. Next on the list is Kenny Ploen who had 541 yards rushing in 1960. When not playing QB, Ploen shifted to safety. Others on the list include: Matt Dunigan 517 yards (1993), Eagle Day 477 yards (1956) & Steven Jyles 452 yards (2010). * Leo Lewis did play some QB in 1959 and served as the backup QB for the playoffs & GC. He had 730 yards rushing in 1959.

  19. Not really, they ain't throwing a guy in when he's had no time with the playbook. I'd be very surprised if Collaros played at all for the Bombers.

  20. yeah it was done more mockingly than anything...and where do you think the rider's got it from..copied it from kids basically...me first guys based on their play..selfish penalties..and the fact they are are on their 3rd and 4th teams in the league after being dumped for various reasons...not all having to do with their play...though Edam is a lot to do with his play as he is sub par You need to stop posting about things you have no clue about...especially when you are constantly belittled for it...or perhaps you are just dumb enough to actually not even realize it...the latter to which I lean toward....though reading your drivel is entertaining at the least and your fascination with what I have to say, and disputing it all is i'm not sure weird..creepy...sad...flattering,..or a combination of them all... Oh and BLM is not what I would call whiney...that's the Rider fanbase...he's outspoken and cocky and has backed it up...the Stamps culture is leaps and bounds ahead of the Rider's...on all levels..for decades now...and sad that you basically just called your DT whiney....Is that your excuse for his sub par play?...or is it sub par as he is second guessing going to the Riuder's and it shows in his play, like others before him?

  26. Reading some of these comments... it's easy to tell why the Bombers never develop a QB... If you're expecting a 2nd year guy with limited pro and college starts to be perfect... well then I'm not sure what to tell you... I'd also like to see more from Streveller... but to give up on him already would be a mistake...

  27. Yeah, you're really just making things up. They haven't played them yet. Not sure if Harris will be back for either game. And, the Esks have nothing to play for. But, oh sure, very comparable to when the Bombers beat them. When the Bombers played them, they were ranked second in the power rankings.

  28. Streveler has a weird throwing motion, his arm is not my concern. I find his mid range passes to be way more accurate then Nichols, the ball seems to hit the player in the chest or in stride. It's his decision making which is questionable but to be expected from a raw young QB. I hope the team keeps him after this season but I'd like the club to go for Masoli in the off season because Chris still needs more time to grow.

  29. Our gameplan both on O and D can be a headscratcher sometimes, but realistically it is this exact gameplan that wins cold weather games. I think our execution on Saturday would win in the playoffs. We just need good execution when we get there and we will have a very good chance if the weather is not optimal.

  30. So with crappy play calling and without receivers that can catch the ball what do you want from him? He hits guys right in the hands and they can't make the catch. No, he's not Ricky Ray, not yet, but he gets the ball to his receivers. It's up to them to catch it. Even sure-handed Woli has dropped a few this year. Give him a good game plan and solid receivers and watch what he can do. Quit studying his mechanics and saying he's no good.

  32. Easy to be a powerhouse when you're beating up on the weak kids. Can't overstate the lesser quality of most of the teams we played in the first half of the season.

  33. I saw Darvin Adams drop an an easy catch, I saw Bailey make nice catches down the field. Maybe instead of Streveler you should think about our OC and receiving core. Mike Reilly wouldnā€™t be hitting our guys on deep balls.

  34. I used to like Charleston Hughes but he's fit right into the Riders pile of steaming hot trash.

  35. Iā€™d agree with this take on Streveler. We have a lot of balls in the air with the QB situation, contracts and injuries, but I sure hope he gets a chance to develop beyond a controlled offence. He can throw the ball. He made several crucial completions to help us win that last game.

  36. gotta call out Mike Miller for his tight end sweep in the 2nd. love how this guy always makes the most of his one touch per game. ...is running a sweep to a tight end something that happens much in football? I don't know if I've ever seen that before, or maybe I just noticed it because it was Miller.

  37. Plus he doesn't get plays and routes designed for deep throws. We saw a bunch of drops against MTL, and we don't have a guy we can go to on 50/50 deep balls. His ball placement has been really good giving guys the chance to catch and run far more then we've seen in the past. He needs to improve his consistency throwing catchable Balls on the run but he's improving and young. He wants and tries to create TDs in the red zone and has given up turn overs trying too hard. But I'll take those learning lumps with that aggression.

  38. In the spirit of the day, I wish that all and sundry have a great day and that all of us remember how much we all have to be grateful for. We may not agree on all things, sports or political but we live in a great city, province and country whereas what we take for granted many cannot even hope for. Thank God for dirty dishes!

  39. I see Chris Streveler with the same upside as Ken Hobart. Everybody kept waiting for Hobart to grow as a passer but it never happened but he was a beast as a running qb. Big, tough & physical. Never amounted to much other than being a career back up for the Ti Cats because he couldn't throw.

  42. Didn't Calgary just lose to that Montreal team? Remember this year in the CFL everyone is terrible.
    2 points
  43. Agree, but Calgary also didn't look particularly dominant. The biggest difference as I see it are BLM and his receivers. Those guys can go get the ball. Big, physical receivers and a QB that isn't afraid to throw the ball. As someone was saying, and I don't know what's up with the guy, but Matthews used to be one of those kinds of guys and I wish we still had him or at least someone like him for Streveler to throw to. We need someone to step up into that role. Maybe Bailey and/or Lawler. Get Petermann in there for Demski. Woli needs to eliminate the drops. Adams, well, I don't know what's up with him lately. Maybe he's nicked. BTW, for all the heat Streveler takes for throwing the odd INT, have you seen some of the INTs Bo throws? For a guy that's been in the league as long as he has he chucks up some real boneheaded throws at times. Our D can feast on that kind of stuff if Bo is too cocky, and he's always cocky. :-) I think our best chance of beating the Stumps might be to win at least two out of three phases of the game. On D I'd like to see us disguise blitz and sometimes show blitz but drop back into coverage more often than not, try to confuse Bo and force mistakes. Stay with the 3-man rush and try to do a blanket-job on their receivers and punish those boys when they do try to catch the ball. We're not going to stop them but maybe we can limit their success. Alexander is going to have to continue to play aggressively, as are Sayles and Taylor. Smash-mouth cold weather football is what we're looking for. Hits hurt more in the cold. On STs we can't be giving up long TDs and big returns off of punts, kickoffs, or FG attempts. Let's be sure of our tackles, stay disciplined, and wrap guys up. Medlock needs to be money. On offense, pound Andrew Harris down their throats and utilize Strevs legs too. Keep Calgary guessing and for gawd sake Lapo, let Strevs throw the damn ball and stretch the field. It opens things up. Keep the penalties down and we can do this. We need to want it more than they do.

  46. We handled Montreal fairly well. Just like we should have handled them in the first game but decided to not cover their receivers in the 2nd half. With our defense on the same page we made Adams look average. The only team that actually scares me at all is Hamilton. They will probably win the Grey Cup, if I had to guess. But I'd put our team right up there. When we're playing our best we are better than Sask and Calgary. But unfortunately with losing our starting qb, losing our starting RB and going into a mini slump, and taking the pedal off against some not so great teams, we likely won't have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. And in football that is huge. Im just hoping that with our run game and defense forcing turnovers we can get it done in the playoffs.
