  5. this has nothing to due with lack of confidence in Streveler and McGuire...it's about depth and experience...if needed and if Streveler struggles continually..nothing more..nothing less What team would have confidence in their 3rd string guy leading them in the play-offs with next to no experience???..none...you all forget the 2007 Grey Cup with Dinwiddie?? That being said, nothing lost really in this move and Collaros if healthy (which apparently he is ..at moment) could do well in Lapo's conservative offence, and he would recognize and see the things that Streveler is still learning and getting used to, which could...well should benefit the offense....But Lapo needs to have his guys in the right spots and taught up properly as to what to do on certain looks...which to my eye seems like he hasn't done. Stop all the pointless crap over and over to the outside...the flats and the dumb short sideline crap...when the defence has cleared out and basically has taken away the edge our guys should be getting the quick hitter slats..crossers...splitter routes and with some of the guys we have on offence they would be having a field day....but nope...we stick to the script that all teams are sitting on now. As long as we don't expect and plan for Colaros to sit in the pocket and get gang rushed he may be productive for a few games to get us where we need to go....we are in the playoffs regardless...it's a matter of where we will be playing and as bizzare as it is to say this I feel a lot better moving forward for the rest of the year with Marshmellow head on our roster, than where we were up to yesterday

In both losses, the Riders got the most out of their limited talent, that is good coaching. The Bombers are once again under-achieving which imo is a direct reflection on our coaching. Something has to give.

I was gonna mention one thing.....I think people over-estimate Khari's "love" for Winnipeg. Here's the thing......he was run outta town on a rail, and I remember reading something about how he was really upset by that Winnipeg Sun headline "Good Riddance" after he was dealt to Calgary. He's had opportunities to come back (Wade was pushing hard for him as OC in the past) but he said no every time. Said he'd only come as HC. So, while he might come back for big gobs of money, I really don't think he's going to come back because he has so much love for Winnipeg. I honestly think he's happy Montreal gave him a shot, and Montreal is happy to have him. They'll give him a blank cheque and he'll stay in Montreal long term.

  10. Pretty hilarious commentary coming from the guy who created a thread to **** on this entire team the other night and say the HC is done. This is a desperation move but the team had to do something. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll translate to more wins.

I've been advocating for years to see Khari back as a coach, but the Alouettes would be insane to let him go if they can prevent it. No doubt he would have a soft spot in his heart for Winnipeg, but how realistic is it to expect him back?

    Bombers acquire Zach Collaros

People around here never change. Seems like the expectations were that we acquire a QB that doesn’t exist. We got the best QB we possibly could have at a very tolerable price. Literally no harm done by doing this at all.

    Osh is a Legend

Streveler has tons of upside...and giving up on him his stupid at best...Have to remember that he basically is in only his 4th year as a true starter...he's learning on the fly, good and bad results and is doing so while in a god awful offensive scheme with an OC who doesn't know how to utilize his players properly, and gets tunnel vision generally before going into a passive play calling mode as he has no onions...So he is a little further behind the curve than most 1st and 2nd yr guys due to that, and all things considered has done pretty well in this working environment he's in. Can't place that all on Streveler and the first step to make this a major turn around is not bringing back Lapo...plain and simple. I can see it in a lot of the offensive players attitude and body language that they are not happy in this either..Lapo's time is done Oshea I have no issue with coming back...yeah the record isn't overwhelming and play-off success has been sparse, but tossing him out really doesn't solve anything...his stubborn attitude to blind loyalty has been his major fault, and you can see on his face this last month or so he is fed up with it...hands are tied this year with the coaches cap thing, so we gotta go to dance with who brought us...but I bet next year if he gets extended...or he accepts the extension he moves on with new OC and DC Sure things have blown lately...but I am not in the camp of all the doomsayers...complainers...whatever you wanna call the people jumping off with support...play=offs are a new season and anything can happen...and if we gotta get there on the road with a couple wins...so be it....just makes it that much more satisfying.

  28. This is a total false equivalency. It's not a rebuild. The hope is that if we had a QB who could complete a pass in the playoffs last year we probably win the Grey Cup. That's how close this team is. And if the marketing department is running the football operation I don't have a lot of hope for that football team.

Without looking strictly at wins and losses, is it fair to say that each team (each year) has been better than the one the year before, for each of MOS's seasons here...? Even without a GC win, has it been progressively better each year?

Even with fairly heavy snowfall from winter, this was a dry year. We've had years with 800 mm of precipitation - this year is not even close. A wet September doesn't suddenly make it a wet year.

I really think that a guy like Streveler is just such a competitor that he struggles with the passive lapo offense. Like Elliott when he was here just no patience for the idea that you don't try and take it to your opponent. At least Khari has talked about how you have to push it against a defence even if it isn't there just to show them you are crazy enough to do it.

I don't know if O'Shea is done. Calling the guy a loser is inaccurate and classless - that I do know. His commitment to retain shitty coordinators appears to be a major weakness for him. Hall should've been canned years ago, IMO. LaPolice needs to quit trying to fit square pegs into round holes, especially if he hopes to be a HC in this league again someday. What I also know is I'm done with this 2019 season. I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if they lose on Saturday.

If Oshea is a good coach, and a guy who you want leading your team he will move on from Lapo and go a different direction....I think he knows this and will be doing so....but then again that is Walter's and Millers call....and if Osh isn't on board with it then we make Khari an offer he can't refuse...he has shown this year he is now a bonafide HC and I bet he could do wonders with Streveler...

    Osh is a Legend

Yes, I think there's an argument that each year the team has been better than the one the year before. Walters has improved the talent on this team especially in the first few years. O'Shea and his coordinators improved the coaching. Eventually the progress seemed to plateau and is now trending down. We are an average team with average players and average coaching. In my opinion, to get to the next level, we will need better players and better coaches.

  39. I'm no Nichols fan, but Collaros is significantly worse than Nichols. Honestly, I can't believe I'm even saying this, but I would've rather seen Kevin Glenn come out of retirement to try and get his ring than bring Collaros in.

  40. 4766 yards passing, 17 TD passes, 20 interceptions in 23 games the past two seasons. That's 207 yards passing per game, with less than a TD per game and almost one turnover per game. ZC hasn't been good in quite some time. This doesn't help us. If they play him, he's been awful and he's a huge injury risk. Plus what evidence is there that he would be a good mentor?

  42. Still doesn't mean a fan can't like it who was in the camp of stay with what we have based on what was available. Nothing against ZC, I understand the for insurance mentality, I hope he does well here and not take another serious concussion wearing our uniform but I'm not convinced more 'veteran leadership' is needed on this team. We have MN and BP on the sidelines to help with that aspect at the QB position. If CS continues to falter I'd rather give SM a look and some important CFL playing experience. Hey if ZC comes in here and lights it up or even plays adequate, great I'll cheer him along because he's wearing the right color but a big meh to this deal.

  46. This isn't a shot at McGuire. Guy has never taken a meaningful snap and Streveler is 1 hit away from being done. And if you haven't been paying attention, in Strevelers last 3 games, hes taken huge hits while sitting in the pocket. This is decent insurance. If Streveler goes down against the Stamps, there no qbs available....period. I dont love this pick up but dont hate it either. Didnt really give anything up. But would have preferred MBT. If Collaros is announced as a starter in any of the remaining games, something is very wrong.
    2 points
  47. The only thing I don't like is if the 3rd rounder becomes a 1st. I don't want any part of giving up a 1st rounder for Collaros who should retire before he kills himself.

  48. Thrashing around in the water while you're drowning is doing something. Buying gas station herbal rogaine while you look like Friar Tuck is doing something. Grinding around with severe whiskey **** is doing something. Having that diet coke is doing something... More often than not, doing something for the sake of doing something ends with wasted money, fleeting gratification, a steep drop into sadness, followed by cancer. I'm not saying a football team can collectively get cancer and heaven forbid, but this cup drought is metaphorical football cancer. I hate Saskatchewan.

  49. This is a gamble I can get behind. We had to. Nichols is not coming back, and Streveler is not a CFL Qb. You cant just throw away a whole season when you can gamble on ZC. Tape him up, give him extra padding in his helmet ,and pray to christ he can do something on offence. People jumping in with their negativity need to pipe down.
