  1. Simply put, this is what happens when you play not to lose.

  2. This is so insane of a statement I can't even understand what you're a talking about. Not only is he BY FAR the best in the league right now, he is the best there has ever been.... Period. He is the very definition of the word "legend"... He's the most respected CFL media guy among his peers in the league. As both a fan, and someone who dissects radio broadcasts for a living, I can tell you better than most that Bob Irving is OUTSTANDING.

  3. At least he shows up for 60 minutes.

  4. I said it before and I'll say it again, the coordinators for this team are the single biggest thing holding them back. That's 2 games for sure and probably 3 that they've cost us by being entire too passive.

  5. No reason to think this season won't end the same as the last few. Making the playoffs isn't good enough anymore. We have to win the Grey Cup.

  6. I totally get people feeling dejected and pessimistic after losses like this especially when they are not isolated instances...and I totally get people choosing to remain positive even after losses like this regardless how often they occur. What I will never get is people seeming to taking negative comments directed at the team personally and lashing out at commenters.

  7. He's got the first down and more!!! Looks to be a yard short!! A long yard maybe two!!!

  8. O'Sh blew it on the last drive in my view. Should have taken the holding penalty and forced a longer field. And call your timeout when your D was in complete disarray and we got schooled. And the defensive performance was horrendous. If we had played prevent defense properly we win. Wrap up and tackle. Ugh.

  9. Well he did get two sacks and played a key role in shutting down the Als rushing attack. I'm a lot more concerned about why the secondary looked so discombobulated in the fourth quarter.

  10. Did they forget what happened last time we played them? And if we had the benefit of only playing 3 quarters against Montreal there would have been no troubles either.

  11. I fear yesterday's loss and that to the Argonauts earlier this summer will come back to haunt this team when it comes to winning the division.

  12. The blitz package is so ineffective too. Not too sure what Bighill is ever doing on passing downs, seems like he has too much leeway to freelance and can’t move fast enough to do anything impactful. Only guys blitzing ever getting into the pocket are Gaitor or Hecht.

  13. Sorry. I'm a MOS supporter. But blowing a 20 point lead to the TORONTO ARGOS and a 21 point lead in the 4TH QUARTER, when you are in a tight race for first......are not character builders, learning experiences, moral victories, or growing pains. Flat out unacceptable....and when this happens, the MO from our OC/DC is usually the same ole crap.
    4 points
  14. Montreal is not a bad team.....but we blew a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter Pretty hard to sugar coat that. Not letting players off the hook, but I am not sure that we have the OC/DC to bring us home. Far too many "playsafe" episodes, on both sides of the ball, after getting a lead. Have flat out blown 6 points, in the standings....so far.

  15. found it interesting on the post game show, Bob & Doug talking to O'Shea, and O'Shea goes on to say that this is 'a fantastic opportunity to learn from our mistakes' trying to spin it into a positive. Bob fired back with 'I don't think this is the time of the season you still want to be learning these lessons'. I like O'Shea, but sometimes he really tries to deflect criticism and spin it into a positive rather than take it head on. If he doesn't see a problem with his coaching staff after this epic collapse, then he really is blindly loyal, and we'll never get to the promised land under him. Sad. This team has all the pieces, just scared pilots!

  16. The guy who threw the winning TD moments b4 hit bighill in the head with a weapon.. Thats not sour grapes. That's horseshit.

  17. Sorry dude - trying to blame this on on the ref's failure to call what Adams did is just sour grapes IMHO. The Bombers offense and defense just plain gave up the ghost in the second half. I believe the office scored 3 points in the second half and we all know what to expect from a Richie Hall Defense - Nothing more to say - A Richie Hall defense will never ever win you a Grey Cup!

  18. Streveler was good, but it came down to the Als stopping the running plays and the passing game was so poor that it wasn't a threat, so the offence died out. And then the "defensive backs" in general and Hecht in particular started into their Keystone Kops coverage routine. To make it short: the Bombers got out-coached again. Yes, it was Hall and LaPolice but this steaming pile lies at the feet of O'Shea.

  19. How absurd. Weird how little attention this is getting, too.

  20. That is good news, now just need to finish first in the west and all is forgiven.

  21. That post I made was from the Kelvin Universe where the Bombers have just won the last 6 consecutive Grey Cups.

  22. Ive said it before. Name me a "players coach" in either league who has had lasting success? All the great ones are hard asses that the players respect and almost fear. Those coaches expect the players/other coaches to perform, and when they don't, they are replaced. MOS is a coddler who always has a thousand excuses.

  23. Who's better? I mean other PBP guys yell louder but you can't beat Bob's concise description.

  24. I don’t know, Irving is hands down my favourite PBP guy ever. I am shocked that we’re not unanimous in this

  25. this might sound ridiculous, but I kind of thought it in the Toronto game earlier in the year..... is this coaching staff just too nice, and don't want to run up the score? That seems to be the only reason I can come up with as far as "letting off the gas" goes. There was a play late in the 2nd, where Winston Rose closed on the ball and just swatted it away with one hand. Dunigan made the comment that he probably makes the pick if he gets both his hands up (and it looked like he definitely could have). Was the coaching staff already maybe coaching the players down telling them take it easy and don't run up the score and look like a$$h***s?? They seem to lack that killer instinct, and I'm seriously wondering if it's just trying to be too classy of a team and not kick a team while they're down?? Problem is, you can come back with little time left in this league, and maybe they should be a$$h***s and run that score up when they have the opportunity!

  26. But, with all due respect, who cares if he is “aware” and the same **** continues? Who cares if “the players love 0SH” and yet they fail to finish? The point is to win a championship. I mean, that is the measure by which every other pro sport coach is evaluated and the failure to deliver on it ultimately gets every last one of them fired… Eventually. So if that championship isn’t achieved, it can’t reasonably go on, forever, can it? And, once you concede that point, the question is just how long should it go on. I say anything short of a trip to the Grey cup this year is that point.

  27. Rod Black - "Bombers have this well in hand" PLOP - "Hold my beer" Hall - "Nah...hold MY beer"

  28. The blitz was either not getting through or VAJ was stepping away from it. This left the secondary in one on one situations most of the time. As soon as the first tackle was missed, everyone else had to run a long way to get there. With the front 4 we have Hall could drop 8 men into coverage when they play prevent. Why the cuss he blitzes more than once or twice in prevent is beyond me.

  29. This. It's one thing to have an OC that plays conservative with a lead if you have a DC that plays aggressive regardless the score...or vice versa...but to have them both play with the same "safe" attitude is just a recipe for disaster.
    3 points
  30. Hecht's inexperience as a safety and his lack of speed were huge factors in this game - yes he makes nice plays when the ball is thrown directly to him... but I have yet to see him read a broken play and come over the top with safety help for anyone

  31. They have to go in the off season... no more excuses.

  32. And of course I’m more sympathetic and willing to give the benefit of the doubt to a 24-year old QB making his seventh career start who has look better than any QB of his age has looked for this city since the 80s than a 34-year old QB who makes the same mistakes every year. Especially if the end results are largely the same.

  33. If the players don't understand their assignments then that is on coaching. Hall is the DC so it ultimately falls on him.

  35. This. Lapo always calls the patented run up the middle late in the game. Goes nowhere. 2nd and long, QB draw or screen pass. Punt. Way too conservative

  36. First half stars: Harris Streveler DLine 2nd half nobody friggen showed up. The conservative BS by our coordinators is pathetic. We should have won this game by 30.

    12 Steps

    1) We admitted we were powerless to defend against the long ball and that our continued fan-love for this team was a big problem. 2) Came to believe that probably even fresh coordinators could not lead us to a Grey Cup at this stage of the season. 3) Made a decision to turn our attention elsewhere. 4) Made a searching and fearless inventory of other teams we might support. 5) Admitted that the Jets probably weren't going to take us to the promised land either. 6) Were pretty much entirely ready to cancel our season ticket package. 7) Humbly asked Wade to remove the GM, coaches and players and start fresh if things don't turn around vs Hamilton. 😎 Made a list of all the players and coaches who might help restore our faith and became willing to negotiate with them all. 9) Made direct trades and firings wherever possible, except when to do so would make things worse. 10) Continued to take inventory of any Blue Bomber player or coach not willing to learn from this loss vs MTL. 11) Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with the football Gods, as we understood Them, praying only for knowledge of their Will for the Blue Bombers and to let us in on the secret. 12) Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to other Bomber fans, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

  40. The blitzes from Bighill are beyond obvious - you can literally see the RB adjusting before the snap every time.

  41. Why the free pass for teflon Mike O'Shea? Every year after the season is over he keeps saying he will be more involved with the defense.

  42. Other than a very badly under thrown pass from Adams.....he looked lost out there in space all night

  43. Its a bullshit play but there were garbage/missed calls all game, going both ways. Just sounds like sour grapes at this point. Bighill with another forgettable game. Hey Adam, stop whining about the refs and build a time machine to go and bring back 2018 Adam Bighill. I like him better.

  44. Bunch of masochists we are, finally a team full of talent ready to win it all, or so we were lead to believe, personally I'm starting to thing that this coaching has had enough time and the only thing that should save them is a Grey Cup, anything sort of that and they should be let go, the whole lot of them
    2 points
  45. We will just leave this here.. Question is . He swung the helmet at Bighill. Why wasnt he ejected? This is actually quite big here. Refs missed this big time. Yup 15 but that's an ejection

  46. You know what would have been a great call there? Have Demski and/or Whitehead sneak out of the backfield on crossing patterns and have Streveler do that fake run throw. Montreal had EVERYONE on the line of scrimmage. But nope, lets just run straight into a wall of Alouettes. No imagination, no killer instinct. So f******* frustrating.

  47. Not much for stars in this one.... Tough to even choose anyone. Harris and Strev and that's about it.

  48. No stars. This franchise is ******* evil. HH to me for putting up with this trash for 25 years.

  49. I’m genuinely not sure what Streveler could have done differently in the second half. He made the plays that were in front of him. Play calling was once again a joke. It’s not like he was careless with the ball or even missing receivers.
