  1. I was skeptical that this would work but it seems accurate... this is what came up for me when I typed in @TorontoArgos.

  2. The new pricing initiatives from the Eskimos is outstanding. It only makes sense to get the fans, and potential fans in the stadium. It really won’t cost them anything and it invites renewed interest and new interest. Bravo! B.C., Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and even Winnipeg, you’re up..

  3. Think teams are starting to realize they have to start being much more affordable. Esk are giving free admission to kids 17 and under.

  9. All I want is for the Bombers to come out & play hard against the Argos. Not be cocky or overconfident. Just hit the field & get the job done.

  10. I'm not so sure BC could shred a head of cabbage strategically placed on the 35 yd. line. It might be close.

  11. After an appropriate cooling down period for sober reflection minus the emotional bent, some thoughts on the game: - Like the confidence of the coaching staff to go for 3rd and short gambles that are not "3rd and inches" gimmes, but Streveler saved the o-line's bacon on a couple of occasions with pure strength, grit, and never quit attitude. Should have been stuffed at least twice due to a bad push from the line, but found a way to outmuscle the defensive player and get the first down. Good to know he can make something out of nothing, but we are going to get burned on a key 3rd down attempt if those o-line mistakes are not corrected. - Having said that, those who pine for Streveler to take over the starting job from Nichols during the course of this season should not hold their breath. Wasn't too inspired by his play once he came in full time, certainly not compared to how methodical Nichols looked moving the offence. - Very confused why the command centre did not call down and point out the facemask that ripped Harris' helmet off. I'm pretty positive they can make a call on any penalty play even if the coach cannot challenge it. But I get why the on-field refs missed it. Harris was not in a spot where it was clearly visible from the backfield judge or anyone other than the sideline crew, and his helmet comes off so easily every game it would be simple to assume it just popped off rather than being pulled off. Dude needs to tighten that chinstrap. - Everyone was so pumped to get Chris Matthews back and see what he could do. Still waiting. Meanwhile, quietly forgotten sidekick Darvin Adams made some spectacular clutch catches in the game to move the chains on second and long. - Still think Ryan Lankford has the physical tools to be a big return threat, but Friday night was another example of how it is between the ears that is holding him back, and at this point I don't see coaching being able to correct that. - Would just like to note that the Bomber defence has not allowed a touchdown in the last 34 opposition drives, and in 39 of 40 so far this season. Tip of the cap to the oft-maligned defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall. - Would just like to note that the Bombers were the only CFL team to score at least 2 offensive TDs in every game last year, have scored 4 offensive TDs in each game so far this year (12 in 43 total drives), are 9 out of 11 in converting red zone opportunities into TDs this year (the only two times they have failed is when they took a knee at the end of the game to run out the clock deep in opposition territory), and have scored a TD in their opening drive of the second half in each game this year. Tip of the cap to oft-maligned offensive co-ordinator Paul LaPolice. - Ottawa actually took a knee out of "victory formation" on 3rd down with 20 seconds left on the clock, literally conceding a turnover to the Bombers on their own 20 yard line while trailing in the game. Have never seen that before.

  14. Maybe. I think they should really push the flag football program. If I had to choose between that and video game it’s the flag football. Get kids moving, familiar with the game, get them a jersey of their own.

    Week 4 Takeaways

Week 4 Takeaways I remember the predictions for the Sask. - Calgary game. 5/6 writers had Saskatchewan beating Calgary. Reality: nope, not even close Saskatchewan 1-3 beat Toronto B.C. 1-3 a step on the line one point victory over Toronto Even the Crossover playoff spot is in doubt at this point. Montreal, B.C., Saskatchewan, all one step on the line away from the playoffs.. The highest paid receiver in the league, Derel Walker, is being wasted in Toronto..13 targets in 3 games. BC gets a rested, better Coached team (Edmonton) for their next game - 1-4 I reilly don’t like their chances against Edmonton. I believe mike Reilly is finally wondering why he signed there. He only had Durant for a receiver last game. Saskatchewan - bye week. Still might lose. As Brian Bennett quietly moves up the depth chart. "We're not as good as we thought" says Riders' Coach. They have some pieces, but as a whole, they be fighting BC for 4th spot.. Edmonton - Trevor Harris back to getting great stats..Even with great stats, they still might win.. Calgary - travel to the home of the Ticats. Still questions for both teams. Masoli vs Arbuckle. Hamilton losing to Montreal when they were supposed to win. And Calgary winning against the mediocre Rider team. But Calgary, being Calgary, looked a lot better in stepping on Saskatchewan. They have the leading tackler in the CFL Cory Greenwood with 25. Nick Arbuckle - looking closer and closer to being a legit CFL QB. Winnipeg - after what we’ve seen after week 4, this should be an injury relief game for the Bombers and a chance to reinforce their offence and defence. 100 TD passes for QB Matt Nichols - 81 of which are with the Bombers.. Great usage of Nic Demski in the opening Q. 82 yards on his longest TD of his career. I like where the Bombers’ headspace is at right now... As for Toronto, their Coaching staff have a lot of boning up to do, work that should have been done already. How is Chamblin not ahead of this? Releasing Jim Barker started this. Toronto just could not execute against BC. But there still might be some sort of execution coming up.. @grantshaw11 - Yep had those special teams coaches for a year. WORST COACHES EVER!! Wow Ottawa - play Montreal and Stanback next, and since the Bombers rushed for 149 yards, Ottawa’s going to have to better than that. Ottawa did sign Jeff Knox jr., so that does help the defence. #Argos LB Ian Wild recorded 13 tackles for the second time in his career. Only Solomon Elimimian has had two games in his career with 13+ tackles. #CFL How confident are the #Argos in a Jacques Chapdelaine offense? 3rd and inches is a punt situation. They would punt.. 😁 Wow! Montreal just kicked the Argos butt to last place and possibly made it tougher for the crossover...signing Chris Ackie.. Vernon Adams jr. game managed his way to leading the Alouettes to victory. 14 of 25 passes and threw for 202 yards. But, he had William Stanback. Stanback - 203 yards rushing. Very impressive. Know where your flag is Khari. At one point Khari was thinking of challenging a call, but he didn’t have his challenge flag. Somebody had to bring it to him.😳 Hamilton lost Erlington early and suffered..Now that I hear he’s 6 gamed, that will hurt, but, they’re still the best in the East. They also suffered thru penalties - 15 for 179 yards - Montreal had 13 for 154 yards.

  17. With a very unscientific check at who I see at Bomber games, would say that it is an older demographic. Getting kids in the stadium and fans of the team and league now, does wonders when they grow to adults and potential ticket buyers.

No but that would be a good rule to add next year. If a player you select gets 3 td in a game you get to remove a strike.

  20. Duke Williams became a star by exploiting CFL refs' unwillingness to call OPI. He definitely had plenty more egregious push-offs than Ottawa's on Friday. But IMO that was the CFL getting it wrong last season, and they finally got it right.

  22. Hi everyone. I'm bumping this thread to let y'all know that my quest to find the thrower of the beer can led me down some very interesting paths. Thanks to everyone here who responded with posts or direct messages. I hope to have more to say about this later in the week. Although an airline that has cancelled a pile of flights this week because of "unscheduled aircraft maintenance" could still scupper my plans, I am hoping to attend the Argo-Bomber game this Friday -- my first game at IG Field. I was only at the old stadium once, for a game in 1982. Really looking forward to this game and seeing the stadium, which looks fantastic on TV! I'm also hoping to check out a few tailgates beforehand, so maybe I will meet some of you there.

  24. I don't think he would need it & why waste the roster spot if you don't plan on him being in there the entire game? It's not pre-season where you can have 90 guys on the game day roster.

  26. Thats awesome!! what a wonderful moment/memory for you and your daughter. Off topic, But My 9 year, My parents and i are driving to Minneapolis at the end of the month in a 1959 chrysler and a 1960 chrysler for a car show. I have fun memories of driving to places in the US for car shows specific to these cars with my parents 20 years ago and i'm really happy that My son will be able to share them with me and his grandparents.. I wanted to bring my 4.5 year old daughter but she would he too much of a handful driving all that way in these cars.

  27. At the end of the day the best thing to get the younger generation hooked on the sport is getting out and enjoying the same experience lots of us had as kids with our parents. My 9 year old daughter hated everything to do with the bombers and football. I kinda forced her to come to a game in Edmonton last year. The players were so interactive and great with her and since that day she loves the bombers with all her heart. Harris scored a touchdown and proceeded to run to us in the front row and personally gave her a ball and now she will be a fan for life.

Obviously when Riders aren't contenders its not that much fun so the casuals stay away. The fanbase isn't uniquely loyal or dedicated. But I know the myth is un-killable.

  32. Yeah perfect game to heal up bumps and bruises and get healthy.. no being cocky here but I'd sit Biggie another game to make sure he good for long haul. We di fine without him and Ottawa has a better offence at moment than T.O

  33. Kavis Reed is in charge of their personnel. But in seriousness, he lost his starting job at the start of last season and it likely wasn’t worth the money for them to have him as the extra DB. Though I would argue he was still the best Canadian DB they had.

  34. Another idea that's never come to fruition/gone by the wayside that would help the teenage demographic is a CFL video game. I absolutely love what they're doing in Edmonton though, I think that's a fantastic idea.

  36. The free kids at the Eskimos game is great news! The plan was already in place to take my daughter and 4 of her friends to the game against the bombers for her bday party! Things just got a lot cheaper haha!

  37. I personally would like to see a complete ass kicking of colossal magnitudes. If it is 50 to 0 at the half the Bombers better come out working their asses off to put another 50 on the board. This is pro sports and in pro sports you play to win. Problem here is O'Shea isn't wired like that especially since he has love for the team he played most his career on. I hate when teams/players take their foot off the gas. There should be No Mercy in pro sports as far as out playing and out scoring your opponent goes.

  44. I honestly think that this veteran coaching staff...and the solid leaders on this team wont let a trap game happen..I feel that they feel they still have to prove to everyone in the CFL they are legit...and a good sound thrashing of the Argos will basically confirm it. I am not a supporter of ever running up a score on a team but I think in this game we kinda need to...or should just to show that we are a team to be feared..anything short of a 3 score win I think would be disappointing
