  1. Series: The Bombers are 45-31-1 all time vs. the Ottawa Rough Riders/Renegades/REDBLACKS. Winnipeg is also a solid 23-17 in Ottawa over that span, including wins in their last three visits to the nation’s capital.

  6. and thing I just remembered to post, regarding Bauming and the pizza.......it's yet another reminder to never question Bob Irving. Bob said it was doubtful, and Bauming thumbed his nose at it.....aaaaand yet again, Knuckles was right. Never question the Godfather.....

  7. This was a guy who had the fastest 40 time among linebackers in his draft class. The Bombers traded up to get him in the second round. He and Thomas Miles are the only LBs left in the CFL from that 2014 draft. I'm not saying he's going to be a superstar but I love that he is finally getting a chance to prove what he can do on defence.

  8. Hope so. I guess I still have PTSD from watching the likes of fellow Canadian LB's Neil McKinlay, Pierre Luc-Labbe, and Sam Hurl get run over throughout the years.

  9. Briggs college "tape". Tait: “Right from his (Briggs) rookie year he’s as smart as they come,” said O’Shea. “He sees it or hears it once and he knows it. He’s extremely fast, he’s strong, he’s a very good football player. He’s probably deserved more of an opportunity over his last bunch of years than we’ve given him.

I think Wilson will be fine at MLB. He's no Bighill but it's not like Ottawa has Powell anymore.

  14. Not sure why as well they have Briggs listed as a starter, as ratio wise it isn't required, nor does it really benefit us in any regard substitution wise...Is he better than Temple and or Warren...i don't think so, but then again I'm sure coaches have a better feel for who is better suited, but just seems weird I think we see the offence go off in this one..Harris will wnat to erase any memory of his worst game as a Bomber and I think the offence will be playing with a purpose to quiet all the critics, and finally playing in consecutive weeks for the first time since T.C should get us in a groove

  16. Born in 1974. Can u do the math? Also look at the success of an organization as a whole..not cherry pick sections of years so in my opinion the Winnipeg Football club has been more successful than the Sask Football Club..and pretty much every other one save for the Argos.. Mind you I will give it to Sask as being bv the CFL leaders in save our butts telethons and have sold the most phoney bogus rider shares worth nothing to again..save their butts

  17. Jeez & in all those years you're still 6 Grey Cups behind us.Not surprising as you can't count past 13. Things get a bit sketchy after the number 10, I see.

  18. It is hilarious that Rider fans like "#1990" but would need the streak to go another 100 years to even get close to having as many Cups as we do.

  22. I don't think Jefferson has ever been a sack machine, at least not when compared to perennial league leaders like Hughes, the most sacks he's ever had was 10 last season. His value derives more from his ability to disrupt the offensive scheme and create enormous havoc in the mind of Matt Nichols. Good thing he's on our team now.

  24. The Bombers did win some games against Ottawa with Hurl in there. That being said, we here would all agree that anyone in there is better than Hurl, so by my Sackstenchewan type calculations, The Bombers should be better than we were back in the Hurl days when we beat Ottawa at that time.

    Free Agency

I don't think we have been fleeced... I think everyone is massively overpaying for some of our guys. Jets did offer Chairot 2 years for 6 million and even that seems a bit high. The guy was steady but easily replaceable. I'd much rather the team dump salary for this season on a one year contract for one of the older guys still on the market then being on the hook for 3 years at 3.5 million per season on a guy who is very average.

That doesn't matter in the slightest, Kenney is ramping up the hate parade over in AB and they're whipping their population into a blind rage, sadly even the most rational of their citizens seems to be buying in. They're pursuing the political path of threats and intimidation and any entity that stands outside their narrow view is marked as a target. Be it Notley, Trudeau, BC, Quebec, immigrants, gays, they're all lined up to feel the wrath. In the age of Trump and hate politics I'm baffled that a group of Canadians would willingly pull our country into the quagmire that awaits, I honestly thought we were better than that.

  31. Their D is an abomination. The only reason they haven't given up 50+ in both games this year is because they got to face the Riders in one of their games.

    Week 3 Takeaways.

Nah, they both were teammates & fighting for the starting qb spot before Knight suffered his rotator cuff injury that ended his career. Had Knight stayed healthy Bomber history would have been rewritten. He was an accomplished qb. After Knight's injury Brock became the unquestioned number 1 qb for the Bombers.

To be fair, the bombers signed a lot of QBs that were declared unfit to play football.

  37. love the thread title.......nice work. I wanna smoke the RBs so badly....just to make a point about them being much below their record. Bauming seems to think Bighill will absolutely be playing, so there's that....here's hoping the injury talk is overblown.

  38. I prepared the charts for previous seasons prior to the start of the season. At that point, only active QBs were relevant. Here are the numbers for the retired QBs. A few factors got me looking into a drive based approach rather than the traditional passing stats 1. There were many drives where QBs would go 3 for 3, 4 for 4 etc. and the drive would result in a punt. The completion percentage was great but the result was bad. 2. The pass efficiency rating focuses on TD passes. A drive that ends in a TD rush is just as significant as a drive that ends in a TD pass. 3. Over the past decade, we have seen the role of a situational QB flourish. A number of TD drives end with a backup QB punching the ball into the end zone, taking any opportunity for a TD pass out of the hands of the drive QB.

  39. I have been tracking drive based numbers since 2015. The key measurements (in my opinion) are points per drive and yards per drive. Here are the numbers for the active CFL QBs who have been around since 2015 And here are the results through 3 weeks of the 2019 season

  43. Maybe Nichols isn't that respected...he was the only offensive player on the field not to go check on Oliveira.

  44. true true,....I heard that Nichols told them in the huddle though to run deep patterns waving for the ball...but they thought otherwise and helped make the play successful as per the plan...good thing shitty Nichols isn't respected in the huddle or we would lose more games than we win
