  2. Join the rest of the nation and celebrate one of our country's greatest pastimes - watching the 'Riders lose! Celebrations start 7:00PM ET as we mark the 2nd anniversary of the first ever loss at Mosaic Stadium, hopefully they can continue their trend of ineptitude with a spectacular 0-3 start to the year!

So much this. Lots of people claim objectivety but in reality what they do is focus on what the Bombers do poorly and what other teams do well. Calgary hasn't looked good this year and BC has looked awful. West right now based on the first 3 weeks of the season has Winnipeg and Edmonton as the top teams in the west and it's not close. Right at this moment.

Reilly also missed a wide open Carter on the first play of the final drive of the game, possibly a go ahead touchdown. Instead he underthrew it giving the defender time to catch up, something that Nichols would’ve been ripped apart for on here. I think Reilly is a great QB, but it seems that some here put on blinders to the mistakes that other teams make. I watch every single one of these games, and I’m confident in saying that the Bombers, with Nichols at the helm, would’ve beaten both of those teams last night. On Thursday, Nichols had three deep passes. One to Matthews was called back because of a penalty. One to Adams resulted in PI so we got the yards, but they didn’t count on Nichols’ stat sheet. And the one to Lucky we all celebrated. That’s another 100 yards in passing that wasn’t counted on his statsheet, as no fault to him, that people just choose to ignore, much like people ignore Reilly’s mistakes last night. Let’s not even get started on Bo Levi and his unbelievable contract. You’d really rather have that guy for $900k or whatever the hell it is? Would our team be better with Reilly or Mirchell as QB? NO, because we would have to lose several of our best players to make it happen. Reilly’s team missed the playoffs last year and is 0-3 this year. Until the salary cap is lifted, you can’t just build a team with one player. I’ll take our team, the team that beat the second best team in the west on Thursday, and the team that almost beat Calgary last night. And in terms of the last two times both Nichols and Streveler played Edmonton last year? Nichols won in a blowout, Streveler lost. I 100% thinks streveler is our future QB, but Nichols is the present and I’m more than ok with that since we’re the only team not willing to mortgage our future on one guy. Thank god Walters is our GM.

  21. Back in the days when fullbacks outweighed DL. Dobler was small for an OL & got pushed around. The only way for him to survive was to play just outside the rules & not get caught. Hence the club. Dobler may have been the dirtiest offensive lineman to ever play the game.

  25. Thank god a rider fan is here to keep this thread in line, heaven forbid his blessed pure soul is ever accused of trolling.... Ripper, touting your internet virtue and acting as a BS mod here is weak. Go back to your circle jerk site and crying about the cup being stolen from you in week one. Your QB could barely remember his own name at the start of the season and now he's wearing a helmet around the house and drinking from a sippy cup for the rest of his days. He's alright sometimes, but he reeks of jealousy and his sister/wife right now, and that's stinky combo.

  31. The deal with game management...... is that the games actually get managed, and you walk out, with the 2 points. When that is happening, most people can certainly live with it.

  32. Reilly, stupid exciting, can carry a team.....0-3 Nichols, pretty boring, can "manage" a game....2-0

  33. Nichols' play the last season+ probably is playing a role in lower than expected attendance. Barely any games over 27,000 last season despite the team making the playoffs and having a combined record 10 games over .500 in 2016 and 2017 - the previous two seasons.. People were losing faith last year as to whether he could win a playoff game let alone the Grey Cup. Things reached a crisis point at the Banjo Bowl. Fortunately for Nichols, the defense, special teams, o-line and Andrew Harris picked up the slack for his mediocre play in the final third of 2018. Basically Nichols managed most games. Rarely, if ever, did we have a game in which Nichols was great. Not what the fans like to see in a nearly $500K QB.

  36. Not that long ago the Bombers could move the ball but couldn't score touchdowns, it was all field goals. Those days are over. top scoring Offence last season, two extremely dangerous, almost unstoppable players added this season; (can't "scheme" to stop Whitehead, he's just too good) However you rate Nichols, it's safe to say the Offence will be very good, with him running it. It's fun to follow, and I don't mind the back and forth, that's the point of the forum, but it's irrelevant.

  37. Yes, I’d agree, Mitchell and Reilly are the top 2 QBs in the CFL. It’s not even worthy of debate. But, they too, can only play to the level of their teammates and Coaching. Right now, after that strange game played in Calgary, we see that even though Reilly had an 85.7% completion average (elite) and 354 yards passing (that magic number) and 2 TD passing..B.C. lost the game. And there’s no guarantee that if Mitchell stayed in the game, that Calgary would have won. On Thursday another reputed elite QB threw for 345 yards, but it took him 54 attempts. That’s Harris, and his book of stats. Is he top 3 QB? Debatable. Certainly a good QB in most regards. I’m told that the Bombers were fortunate because our middle-bonker-rated QB didn’t play well..but the team did, especially on defence. Team game for us in that one. Fortunate? Debatable. As to Masoli, I’m still waiting to see. He’s got a pretty stacked team in Hamilton, so can he take the next step when he’s not playing Saskatchewan, Toronto or Montreal? We’ll see. The Bombers are in a good spot right now through team discipline, defence, effort and Coaching. Oh, and good QB play at the right time. I really don’t care if we’re not allowed to call Nichols anything but our starting QB. The Bombers are winning with him and really, that’s all that matters.

  42. I see it as a team game and wins are a culmitave result of what is working for the team in each game to win. Nichols and others on offence are being toned down to so what's needed to win..and nothing more..nothing fancy or gaudy stats wise as that's what they are being told to do..more or less. Recal 3 yrs ago..Nichols was putting up fancy stats..good yardage and consistant 30+ points games..and we lost a lot..and he played more wide open cause we had to.. If your winning..and utilizing your great run game..and tough defense then why risk turnovers and the chance to let a team get back in the game just to fatten the stats line and appease fans and critics?? And people can go back to the last playoff game and say yeah but hey..we didnt produce points when it mattered..well playoff ball is a different beast..weather has effect and a lot of that blame has to go on Lapo..for all his good traits he needs to grow a pair and not coordinate like a Nancy Boy and "hope" to not make any errors..that's wherein lies the issue.. and regardless right now..we are winning..the formula is working and as the season progresses our defense is gonna get better and allow us to win more often than not most games where we put up 23..25 points..so why play stupid?

  46. We've gotten 2 wins in two tries with him at the helm. Neither Mitchell or Reilly can say that. Are they better quarterbacks? Maybe, but thankfully, football is a team game and this team is winning. Funny how quickly we forget the days when we weren't, the days when we were trying to figure out how many wins we might get and whether that would be enough to get us into the playoffs. Nichols isn't the best qb in the league, but maybe, he doesn't need to be.

  47. Good teams win games that they have no business winning. How many times in the past 10 years has Calgary played really crappy and won the game. The Bombers at the moment have so much talent on this roster that they can overcome poor play.
