Hey there is only so many roster spots once you are deep you are going to need less and less replacements each year.

Simonise really looks like a football player, but looking like Tarzan and playing like Jane will get you cut.

Cutting a guy with a ton of talent for drops in one game is not the way I would go about things. It’s how you end up gifting another team 5 years of prime Adarius Bowman. And that was at least an issue with drops over an entire season. Not saying this will burn us for sure, but he was the only Canadian receiver of that body type and type of talent that we had.

Label me shocked at the Simonese release. Bennet too. Two guys I thought were locks. Simonese just couldn't get to that next step I guess. So much for my prediction on him being our top Cnd rec this year.

Fact is that Peterman has made plays every time he has got a chance, wolitarski made plays when he got a chance... simonise made a play and that's about it. Earn your spot, he didn't do it. Say what you will about Kyle Walter's but he is not sentimental about his draft picks. He moves on when guys don't show enough.

We all wanted Simonise to work out because the tools are all there... but this team isn't in a wait for guys to maybe work out mode, they are in a let's ******* win mode so when other people play better tough luck.

Bennett has been learning the CFL for a few years now... McGuire is a raw rookie. They looked very similar. The kid who just got off the plane and stepped foot in Canada the 1st time looked as good as the guy around for a few seasons. Cap? Nope. Ability.

Bennett is a crazy athlete but he doesn’t have the accuracy to consistently hit those midrange passes that CFL offenses are built on. Have only seen a bit of McGuire but he’s shown some passing ability. Bennett is more of a thrower. For a 3rd string guy who isn’t going to get reps, might be advantageous to have a guy who can launch deep balls and run, but if I had to pick one to develop it would be McGuire. Hopefully we keep both for the time being.

Maybe. Bennett has done everything that has been asked of him since coming here and he's had a great showing in training camp. I like McGuire but it would be hard to blame O'Shea for wanting to keep Bennett.

I'm super glad Kenny Walker stuck around, that guy caught everything going his way. Might be a sleeper guy who will shine when he gets his chance.

One thing I believe about qb's. If you are 3rd string one year, you should be backup the next season. If don't get to sit and be 3rd stringer 2 years in a row. Watford is gone and that's why. Bennett hasn't displaced Shreveller so bye bye. The 3rd spot is a development position. If they want to keep him beyond this point it will be on practice roster. That very well may happen, you have to get cut before you are offered PR spot. Don't be surprised if Bennett isn't on your PR

And I thought he was good on special teams. I agree with you about gifting him to another team. I feel very conflicted about this cut. Disappointed too.

Simonise played himself off the team on Thursday. Just too many drops. I was hoping he'd take that next step this year but it didn't seem to be happening.

It should also be noted that Khari will also be terrible.

Honestly. I’ve ventured onto their site from time to time and it’s like clockwork. Angry when they’re losing and then memory like gold fishes, they’re planning the parade again the next day.

The CFL needs to demand better coverage from TSN, including complete highlight packages on their website, of the 3 games played last night they dedicated less than 1 minute in total to the highlights of all 3 games. The least they could do is show every TD, big play and turnover and maybe try to get the players names right. In the Bomber highlight video the commentator has Collaros completing a TD pass to #1 receiver, "Darwin Adams".

I think it's odd that Augustine had a tough time getting a CFL job, but glad the Bombers got him.

Yes, releasing Simonise is a way to keep both Augustine and Oliveira - who will spell Harris in that RB/SB hybrid - I hope.

Think it means Oliviera and Augustine made the team, plus the fullbacks. Also Simonise lost out to an import receiver/returner. Too much competition to coast onto the roster.

Thought BCs starting O looked good. Very good actually. They definitely have the talent to make some noise. Not so much on the other side of the ball. Going to be a lot of 38-36 games for them.

I’d rather watch a BC-Calgary preseason game than the NBA finals or the Stanley Cup finals regardless of the teams involved.

In fairness I quickly skimmed over the game day thread and not everyone is on the bandwagon. Its just the ones who are on the bandwagon are on delusional level 10. I read things such as our 2 big bombs don't really count and if you take those away their defence shut us down. Something about Powell being unstoppable. Zero mentions about 3rd stringers getting pressure on them. I will look forward to regular season play. It will be interesting that's for sure.

Nichols threw his second pick six right before halftime, and Streveler played the whole second half. When should O'Shea have pulled Nichols in the LDC? You don't think Bennett can make the team on merit alone?
