I'd prefer we didn't stand tried and true to this impeccable character thing..no issues past or present and actually employed some guys who walked on the edge or at times can be viewed as for a lack of a better term an assclown...because when you look at all championship teams they all have guys who are pricks..have issues...are dirty and stradle the line of common sense at times....the 5 years of having choir boys all throughout the club has won us nothing

Quite honestly, I need my kids to teach me stuff, so the sooner they learn the better. It would be nice if they let me know what the password was to the wifi too. I've completed my chores, so I don't understand the holdup.

In the report, there was a line that was easy to miss. Apparently Johnny Manziel went out of his way to arrange and pay for several teammates on his AAFL team to be able to eat and have a place to stay. A glimmer of hope that Manziel may actually be a decent human being at times.

  6. Well, frankly I have never heard much of anything.... about coaching approach, roster usage, player usage, riffs in the room, or old vs young. When you win. I have already made comments about some of these issues....but when you lose, everything gets magnified. All you have to do is check out some others teams boards - everything is bad, everybody sucks, and everyone hates each other. A certain amount of change IS coming, simply because of the cap situation. Some younger guys WILL be required to step up and take on larger roles, next year.

  8. Nah. Just you. I suggest you look inward before spewing your crummy judgement at others. Oh, and BTW: the Jets made playoffs in Maurice's first full season here (2014-15). It continues to amaze me how often you get things wrong regarding the Jets while continuing to act like an insufferable know-it-all.

"For the first time, University of Guelph biologists have tracked an annual migration of up to 20,000 kilometres made by the 12-gram blackpoll warbler, one of the fastest declining songbirds in North America." “It’s amazing,” said Norris, who worked on the study with Hilary Cooke, associate conservation scientist with Wildlife Conservation Society Canada. “A bird weighing a couple of loonies travels from the western edge of North America all the way to the Amazon basin – and, in between, traverses the Atlantic Ocean.” https://news.uoguelph.ca/2019/03/tiny-songbird-makes-record-migration-u-of-g-study-proves/?fbclid=IwAR1N8DdV6inWGedsFndroRGaaZG9Jn7RGrigFeDeR_wL5tVfE-TqqxYaL4I

  14. It started with the Rangers who bought all the ex-Oilers and for the next 10 there was no salary cap so Canuck teams had no chance and then when they did bring in one it took another 5 to even things up. As for the last 10 years...well the odds are even but they outnumber us 4-1. But we're Canadians so we'll pay more for tickets and beer and TV rights and say its our game.

Not exactly. They average salary is approx. $60 000 per year in the States, which is about what it is here because new grads make around $50 000. American Teachers can also earn money in addition to their salary because they get paid for coaching and other extra-curricular activities. With the exception of being able to earn a couple of paid days off, all extra curricular activities are uncompensated in Canada.

  26. Brandon isn't anywhere near fielding a CJFL team for 2 reasons: Finance: It costs approx 350,000 per year to field a team in the PFC, driven by very high travel costs. Unless a very wealthy benefactor steps up, it's not likely to happen. The costs are lower in the BCFC as they can "day trip" to most of their games. Market Size: There have been some very good football players come out of Brandon, but it and the surrounding area just don't have enough players to compete at a national level. There are 3 high school teams in Brandon, that simply is too small of a pool of players to draw from. They are better suited to the MMJFL, where the costs are much lower. Chilliwack wouldn't be able to compete in the Prairie Conference. Actually none of the BC teams would. It's been 10 years since a BCFC team beat a PFC team in any game (there were a few inter-locking games a couple of years ago) and it really was only a small window "the Andrew Harris years" when a BC team won (06, 08, 09), The 07 game went to the PFC, as did every game for the 5 years before. The level of play is just much higher on the prairies. Most CJFL players that go on to the CFL do so through U sports. Typically a player will be with a CJFL club for 3-5 years and then jumps to the university level and plays there for another 2-4 years. There are some who go from CJFL directly to the CFL, but they are rare.

Interesting notes. Quarterly revenue down triggering a 13% drop in wwe share price. But they are still on pace for record revenue this year with the new tv deals. Vince blames the decline in ratings and attendance on having top stars out. Uh huh. He claims everyone is back and they made new stars and have additional writers so everything is great. They refused to admit they are going back to Saudi Arabia (June). In terms of declining ratings there has been speculating the Saudi shows turned people off more than expected. No real proof but ratings declined at a far greater clip after the Saudi shows than before. Plus I believe they had a ton of network cancellations after the Saudi shows. Dustin requested his release in January. Vince was against it but hunter talked him into it. It was granted with a 90 day non compete which just expired. Harper’s request for a release was denied. Furthermore they added 8 months to his deal due to his injury (which is ridiculous). He’s locked up til around wm next year. Sasha has tried to quit. But if she sits out wwe can freeze her contract forever. Which, again, is absurd. Wwe pulled taker and angle from the star cast convention. Basically they were so mad they offered them new contracts but made them breach their agreement to do the convention. HBK was going to do it but declined before signing a deal. Cody was in town filming at Kenny’s place.

  31. I don’t think Stastny did anything. The cross check....you could go either way on it being a minor or no call. But Stastny just got tangled up with him. Probably no call at all has the player not landed on his head

That is absolutely a pipe dream. Couturier is easily the most valuable player in that deal and you think they're going to take a backup goalie and an albatross of a contract for Sanheim and a prospect?
    1 point
  33. It was a weird play. In hindsight, maybe the "proper" and "fair" call would have been a 2 minute minor to Eakins for the cross-check, and 2 minutes to Stastny for roughing on the same play. It's his push while Pavelski was off balance that did the real damage.

  34. Unofficially void. Soon to be officially void. At any rate, the AAF's claim to these players rights is extremely unlikely to hold up in a court of law. The bankruptcy agents will soon just mass release these players. They have a duty to try and get something but they can't realistically prevent these players from going elsewhere without honoring their contracts.
    1 point
  35. Sure, the AAF doesn’t have a case nor the resources to fight it.
    1 point
  36. The AAF contracts were void the minute they closed shop. Very basic principle of contract law is that if one side does not live up to their obligations the other party is not bound to their obligations. The AAF is not providing the opportunity for the players to earn money playing football, therefore contract is worthless.

Entirely different situations and we all know it. The CFL is honouring these contracts right now out of sheer respect for a process, but if push comes to shove, they're not going to think twice about providing a guy an opportunity to earn a living in spite of what some defunct circus thinks about their entitlement to these players.

The Leafs don't have three this season. Regardless, the point it seems he's trying to make is that top heavy teams are all failing, which imo is just a coincidence. The Penguins won two of the last three Cups with arguably the most top heavy roster in the league.

  42. Not a bad ending; however, I hated that they inoculated everything at the end by making everything Discovery classified. A cheap way of explaining why we never heard of it in future ST series'. I mean, it was well known that Michael "started" the Klingon war and that she was the First Officer on Discovery. It just seems a reach to make the entire ship classified. Spore drive, sure, it was already classified.
