  1. How many folks in Winnipeg would be willing to pay to watch an NFL preseason game? Would the Bombers be able to even half fill the stadium? I kinda doubt it.

  3. Dundon is cutting his losses long before 250 million goes up in smoke. Plain and simple and also very wise. Create a bad guy in the narrative so that his stock holders don't question how he could make such a reckless investment in the first place.

  4. I'm not against the idea, but not sure I'd pay to watch it. Maybe if they guaranteed the starters would play the 1st half, but I can't see that happening. Watching a bunch of guys I've never heard of, on teams I don't care about, play a meaningless game isn't appealing to me.

  5. I keep thinking that a city the size of Toronto couldn't get much of a crowd for the Bills, who are a big deal for southern Ontario peeps........how could the Bombers possibly make money off this? And the only way I'd want to do it is if the Bombers were going to make a killing...

  6. My interest in the game is beyond zero... why the hell would I want to watch Nathan Peterman play for a half?

Geez, if the Tavern is considered to be a better option, it must have been really bad.

  9. Also from Wiki: Ticket prices for the Series were announced in May, and averaged C$183 per seat. In Buffalo, Bills tickets averaged C$51 per seat. Crazytown. Here's the Wikiepedia article. Seems to be well referenced. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bills_Toronto_Series

  13. It’s the 3rd preseason game so traditionally that’s the game the starters play the most in.

  14. Number 2! I found this on Bardown. It's obviously out of date, as it inlcudes Todd McLellan and Dave Hakstol.

  15. Excellent idea. Akin to a major concert. Why wouldn’t they? Big dollars. It’s not like Winnipeg is at risk of alienating cfl fans wanting an nfl franchise here.

    National Combine Invites

Faith Ekakitie has made me wary of college guys who couldn't earn a starting roster spot. Boateng at Fresno State is another this year. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I'm not raising anyone's stock just because they went to school in the US.

  18. Wow. It seems that there might not be an appetite in the States for what amounts to minor league football. Colour me surprised... or not.

  22. No, they didn't. Priced wayyy too high. From Wiki: Preseason games[edit] Date Visitor Score Home Stadium Attendance August 14, 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers 21–24 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 48,434[57] August 19, 2010 Indianapolis Colts 21–34 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 39,583[58] Regular season games[edit] Date Visitor Score Home Stadium Attendance December 7, 2008 Miami Dolphins 16–3 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 52,134[59] December 3, 2009 New York Jets 19–13 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 51,567[60] November 7, 2010 Chicago Bears 22–19 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 50,746[61] October 30, 2011 Washington Redskins 0–23 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 51,579[62] December 16, 2012 Seattle Seahawks 50–17 Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 40,770[63] December 1, 2013 Atlanta Falcons 34–31 (OT) Buffalo Bills Rogers Centre 38,969[64] If I remember correctly, they dropped ticket prices and gave away a ton of tickets right before the preseason games.

Obama could always be counted on to back down, when the going got a bit tough. Republicans are much tougher and more determined /nasty than the Democrats.

  26. Real testament to Buff's importance to the Jets... without him on the power play, teams can cheat on Laine and other lanes At even strength, teams take way more liberties with Scheifele than they ever would with Buff out there

  32. To watch depth/practice roster players play in a meaningless game...? I highly doubt it. NFL pre-season games in Canada... What a terrible idea*. *unless the host team and league are handsomely compensated

  35. I believe that the suggested day for this game is Friday, Aug 23. Problem is that the Bombers will be playing at Edm that day. Even if they bring an NFL pre-season game here that's not the game I'll be watching.

  42. It sure looks that way. And with Dallas being a potential first round opponent, the Jets' PK could be their demise in that series. You rarely get far in the playoffs with a lousy PK. It's just so frustrating to see this team play so well in one game and then so poorly the next. It just doesn't make sense. They mopped the floor with the Preds and then get their asses handed to them two days later... Sure, the Stars are playing desperate hockey but there's no reason why the Jets can't match that.

  48. Johnny looked like he did in the CFL last night, a pile of garbage. He made one good toss for 36yrds and not much more after that. He was pulled and replaced by Silvers. If you only had the sound on the TV you would think that Johnny was amazing and the Express receivers weren't good enough to play with the talent that Johnny Football is according to all the excuses the announcers were giving on why he couldn't connect on his passes. They also explained why he wasn't successful in the CFL. They said in the CFL they only have "two downs" and that the Canadian game "isn't really football" so that is why Johnny wasn't very good there. What a bunch of idiots lol! Funny thing is after Johnny was put back on the shelf last night, Silvers lead his team to a comeback win over the Iron.....with the same receivers Johnny was throwing too.

  49. Papa John's is getting "Shaq-ified." The pizza chain said Friday that basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal will be its new pitchman, appearing in TV commercials and promoting Papa John's in other ways. Papa John's International Inc. said it will pay O'Neal more than $8 million in cash and company stock for the three-year endorsement deal. Bonus Story BDI has opened.
