why does it explain a lot? It just seems like people are assigning themselves a high moral ground here that is completely undeserved, just because they identify with a specific political group. Anything that disagrees with this political group's ideology is immediately labeled "regressive" (whatever that even means) no matter what the points of disagreement may be. Case in point - if you question the 12 year death sentence certain politicians have put on the planet due to the man-made climate change hypothesis, you are suddenly "regressive", which is just plain silly. Being "progressive" seems to be to actually be pretty regressive in a lot of ways, and extremely damaging to the environment and the economy. So to sum up, the moral preening of those labeling themselves "progressive" is pretty hard to stomach, and also pretty hypocritical.

If every person in the US who made over $10 million a yeah, voluntarily donated 70% of their above-$10 million income to a fund that was then distributed to everyone else using a formula where the most needy got the most and so on and so on...we'd call that a great Utopian ideal. I suppose people can debate whether it would stifle innovation or make people lazy. But in theory, its sort of a perfect scenario. Those with more helping those with less. At the end of the day if someone like me is taxed at 20% and someone like...say, Trump, is taxed at 70%, he STILL has way more money left over than I do. Whats the problem? Mostly, people who dismiss it are just doing the usual ideological blindfold routine. I remember when everyone said Bernie was nuts for wanting universal health care and its not an accepted part of many mainstream politicians policies. Asking the super rich to pay more is not anti-rich or anti-business. Its pro-human.

Its been higher. AOC's plan is not crazy. I think most people that dislike it who AREN'T super rich wish they were so they dont want to see the super rich taxed. When AOC asks "isnt' $10 million enough?", thats a good question.

Check out what happened in the past when the top earners were taxed at 70%+. Even the Trudeau Liberals haven't gone there, and Canada would gladly accept all the tax dodging musicians and actors who want to come here, knowing that their windows of opportunity for high earning could be very limited. Go ask Roger Moore or the Rolling Stones about how they liked living in the UK in the 70s (hint: they moved away).

I am not at all in favour of a second challenge. As it is now, coaches have to consider carefully whether and when to use their one challenge. It has added to the game. Blown protections /coverages / etc are part of the game. So are bad calls by the officials. I hear that coaches lose their jobs because of bad calls - well, a lot more coaches lose their jobs because they screwed up a game plan or their QB had a bad game (i.e. their QB was not perfect). Fans of every single team in every single sport are convinced that their team was robbed by the officials in every game ever played. Killing the momentum of the game and making a marathon of a sprint is not going to fix something they will believe anyway.

I am a little late to the dance but I thought that I would share some information on Lou Adelman. Adelman played the snapback/centre position for his entire career (note: he played middle wing in 1 game in 1931). During this era, the centre was considered to be the second most important position on the field after the QB. Teams would often line up 2 or 3 players in a spread behind centre. It was up to the centre to snap the ball accurately to the correct player without tipping off the opposing team as to which player was receiving the ball. Adelman always topped any "informal" list of all-stars during his career. For people who watched football throughout Canada, Adelman was often considered to be one of the tops in the country. Adelman's nickname was Rosy / Rosey / Rosie. This stems from one of his first football practices when he was a kid. The centre from the previous season was a kid named Rosenthal. The Coach referred to Adelman as "Rosy" and the name stuck. After his career, the Blue Bombers took Adelman's #1 out of circulation. It was not assigned to another player until the 1980's Disclaimer: my vote would have been for John Bonk but Adelman would have been a close second.
