No QB, no backup QB, no O line, no Canadian depth, no Canadian draft, No MLB, no kicker, no free agents wanting to sign here, brutal coaching, a culture without any sense of purpose or drive, unmotivated players, and overall, an organization that was run like a cross between a gentleman's club....and Pop's soda shop Some of us recall these sort of things .....

did Mike Oshea kick your dog or steal your wife...man you have a lot of serious unfounded hate going on for what has been a pretty good last 3 yrs worth of ball...team has progressed albeit without a cup yet...but if he was to be turfed...most is staff would be too...and most likely a lot of the character in the room with it...and you are back to square one.. This year was a pretty resounding success...survived the season with number one QB out to start the year...then a funk portion...and then a Playoff win on the road...and an almost second one for the taking ..again on the road...which history shows rarely happens...sustainable success and environment to maintain that..and re-load it is whats vital and key before all the fruits of that labour can be realized...and we are exactly at that point right now...and keeping things status quo from Miller on down right now will allow us to keep keeping on in that regard...But...and this is the key thing...if Walters can't bring in the talent at receiver this year to augment it and put us over the top...well then a switch in that position is a realistic change...and won't affect the culture or the environment thats been built

Not to mention even a more horseshit management team and football operating environment...and culture...and most importantly perception of organization from around the league...light years away from that....that alone in my books gives them another year or 2...but Walters is the guy and to lesser extent his Asst GM's who have to produce this year and fix the last 2 remaining issues

He keeps putting up double digits in wins a season I'll give him a lot more time. He is flat out the best head coach this team has had since Dave Ritchie and he's done it with the safest most boring coordinators going. I got lots of patience for O'Shea cause these teams are fun teams to watch when for the better part of the last 20 years we've watched some absolute horseshit teams.

  5. Much like Dervin from the War Amps video I'm sure all of the Import receivers they've brought in can "run", "jump" and probably "catch the ball" when thrown their way. The problem is this position has been chronically underused in LaPo's game-plan for years and the role is reduced to a secondary support position when it needs to be a primary position of attack. Until Nichols starts distributing the ball more equitably and habitually targets this receiver 4-6 times per game it's very difficult to determine whether a receiver like Thomkins skill level is actually inadequate. From observation I would guess that he's got all the tools but is rarely called upon to use them.

Looking at the last 2 or 3 years, your culture comment makes some sense. Including to first two where there was serious rebuilding to do, is just not credible. You can’t find bread to make toast with when the cupboard is bare.

Can't fire Osh after the miraculous recovery from our September swoon. The playoff win in Regina gives him another year to try to get the Bombers a GC. My question is, Can he?? I have my doubts but he deserves another shot to try.

You keep comparing MOS to Richie so lets 'go there'. Richie's first 5 years... 1 3rd, 2 seconds and a 1st. Made the playoffs 4 out of 5 years. 7 playoff games. Lost 4. 1st playoff win in year 2. One Grey Cup appearance. MOS's first 5 years... 2 3rds, 1 2nd, 0 1st. Made the playoffs 3 out of 5 years. 4 Playoff games. Lost 3. First playoff win in year 5. Zero Grey Cup appearances. Richie got a 6th year. His 2-5 start and being fired doesn't help your patience argument.

  23. He seems extremely protective of Ivanka but not so much the sons. And supposedly not so much Kushner. Hard to say. If they had Ivanka dead to rights on something that would put her in jail but he could take the fall to get her off the hook? Yeah, I cant see it,. I think he'd fight it. In his mind, at his age, get the lawyers to fight it out for the next few years. For someone of Ivanka's age (or the sons) with kids...you dont take chances unless you're confident or stupid. I think if the walls begin closing in, Trump will issue blanket pardons to his family.

  24. He's always been just smart enough to link himself to others, bankers etc, so that he can walk away, go bankrupt, stiff people because those people end up losing more if they force him to collapse. He really puts everyone else at risk for his own interests. But running for President was stupid. Well, running...maybe not. Winning...stupid. Because he's exposed all his hangers-on and minions and partners to criminal investigations (or worse if they flip and piss off the wrong people). If his kids are indicted, will Donald take the heat to try to protect them?

age modified by catastrophic injury. If it wasnt for the two injuries mo would still be a MODP candidate. And our season would have been very very different. Would love to have him as a LBer coach. The best solo open field tackling sam in this era for my money.

Demski is a decent player, but man the way he always has to try and outrun everyone to the edge rather than cutting up inside is infuriating. Harris needs to take him under his wing and toughen him up if he's going to be worth a big pay day.
    2 points
  28. They don't need Demski. There's Petermann, Simonise, other free agents and all their draft picks with an extra first rounder. I think Demski only comes back if he takes a pay cut.

A bunch of excuses then a dumb question, that I'll answer just cuz you asked... Most folks around here want this regime to get more years because they took us from doormats to competitive. Just look at this thread if you want some examples. They, like you, make excuses for the losses and point to all the coulda shoulda woulda moments in games that caused us to lose and don't want to even hear about the other teams coulda woulda shoulda moments especially when we win. Management knows that if they just make the playoffs and maybe win a playoff game or two, then most fans will be satisfied. Keep everyone. We'll be better next year cuz consistency and patience will eventually get us there. 5 years so far and we've got a playoff win.

What team are you watching? They've literally had other GM's comment on how many FA's they sign. Our Scouting has brought in plenty of quality players as well. You are right about the WR's though. I'll give you that one.

I agree.... It isn't the only one that matters. Thanks for your post. I agree with you. I was an O'Shea skeptic, but I am completely on his side now. He's not perfect, but there isn't a head coach in the CFL that I would rather have than Mike O'Shea.

I do not get the MOS love around here, apart from being a coach that players love what has he done? His in game decisions( 4th quarter 5min left in the game he refuses to challenge a ghost PI call?) He won't sit Nichols for 4 or 5 plays just to give Calgary someone who can put pressure on them with his legs, even when Nichols does squat in the game. He refuses to replace assistant coaches till they blow up in his face and he has questionable talent evaluation ( We still have lankford on this team why? And who said Hurl was a good mlb and wasn't the problem last year?) Being loved by your players because you stick with them no matter what? I guess that's a good enough reason around here.

You're trying to move the argument away from 'most fans and management are just happy with a playoff game and a playoff win every now and then' because you know it's true. It's not about the first 3 games. Streveler went 1-2 . Should have started the next game or two, cuz Nichols was obviously not ready yet. Coaching mistake IMO.

If we start the 2019 season with essentially the same coaching staff, GM quarterbacks and receivers, the answer would be "yes", at least on the part of the Bomber brain trust. Close only counts in horseshoes and nuclear warfare.

We won less games this year than we did last year, even tho we had a better team on paper. We didn't get a home playoff game. We were 4th overall and 3rd in the West. We played our best games during the stretch run, which hasn't happened for years. We had one of, if not the, healthiest team going into the play offs. I'd guess, without checking, that we had the least number of man games lost to injury during the season. We beat a Riders team who were forced to play their backup QB by 5 points in the semi and that backup QB missed 4 open receivers who were behind our defense. We lost to a Stamps team with 4 injured starting receivers. The progress has been painfully slow. It took 5 years to get a single playoff win, but that win saved MOS's job. Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans and management are happy with being a middle of the pack team that wins enough games to make it to the playoffs and who sometimes even wins a playoff game.
