  1. Nah, what's funny is the amount of assbleed you have over the celebration.

  2. Name to consider also with Bombers having multiple first rounders is Brady Oliveria RB from Winnipeg playing at UND.

  3. I'm not saying Nichols is a ridiculously stellar QB, I'm just saying he's doing what is asked of him. LaPo's playcalling is for more short passes with longer sustained drives, then so be it. 1. Ottawa rushes alot: What? No they don't, they pass a lot. We run the ball a lot, we lead the league in rushing (2,103 yards on 375 attempts). OTT by comparison has just 1,453 yards (7th) on 296 attempts (6th). OTT doesn't run a lot, they rely exclusively on Powell, which is why he has such high rushing yardage. This just shows Powell is a good back. 2. Nichols compared to T. Harris - Nice cherry-picking here - OTT has the most pass attempts (575) in the league. Harris has 553 attempts compared to Nichols' 359 attempts. Of course he's going to have more yards per game (and overall) - he has 194 more passing attempts than Nichols this year. You throw more, you get more passing yards. Also, I find it funny in one breath you argue OTT rushes the ball lots, then talk about how good their passing offense is. 3. Streveler numbers - his numbers in 3 starts, let's take a closer look: his combined numbers over those starts are: 54/86 (62.7%) for 570 yards, 6 TDs, 2 INTs and 2 rushing TDs and no +300 yard games. Pretty impressive, until you consider half the stats he piled up include a 56-10 win over MTL (he was 22/28 for 246 - 3 TDs, 0 INTs). As for having more rushing TDs than Nichols - of course he does, he's our backup and runs the short yardage unit. 4. I don't think anyone will dispute Reilly is a better QB at the long ball, but he also leads the league in 20+ yard attempts that have been intercepted (10). PLAP is not calling deep balls. If he was calling deep balls we'd have more deep passing attempts, currently we are tied for last in the league in that category, and we've played one more game than some teams. 5. Scoring off Turnovers: Of course we have lots of points off turnovers. A good offense is better at scoring on short fields - and they're even better at it when they start in good field position. 6. "It's not about Nichols playing great. It's about the team around him playing great." - TBURGESS That's kind of my point here, Nichols isn't ever going to get MVP or the passing title, but Reilly can have those. That's all he won in 2016 and 2017. He's done well in a system that's designed for him, and that system includes a heavy run offense that doesn't pass often. When it does, it's shorter, high completion passes that allow the offense to march down the field.

  4. You cannot compare them period. You just can’t say which QB would have success or fail in any given game. So, you go with experience and the guy who has won you games, no matter if it’s ST, defence or Offence. There’s no way you can say Streveler would have won the same games as Nichols. It’s simply conjecture to say otherwise. Like I said, Streveler is set up to succeed, field position and taking advantage of his abilities. And there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s good Coaching. I really like the looks of Streveler and he will do well..with experience. He very well could be the future.

  5. A QB gets blame. Why not credit? Sometimes, a QB makes that key throw on a 2nd down that continues a scoring drive. That pass may only be for short yardage, and may lead to a winning FG. Does that show up in the stats? No. But it may be key. So do rushing yards. The QB has the most touches on offence, and if he follows the game plan, and executes, it leads to good results..usually. The comparison of Nichols and Streveler doesn’t work. It’s usually a set up for Streveler to succeed. The credit still belongs to Streveler because he executes the set up well. But does it happen without the contrast to Nichols? I don’t know about that.

  9. 8-5 is Nichols win loss record this year. 29-14 overall since he became QB 1. Pretty telling stat. Sure he's more Matt Saracen than J.D. McCoy but wins are wins.

  10. Agreed...hes just learning to be a pro this year and get back into the swing of things..and doing what's asked..and doing it well. If used properly next year he can become a real mismatch nightmare...also if anyone could score on us we can see him return a kick too..other than the one he muffed

  16. One day we should get a bunch of MBBers to cobble together a debating team. We would be unstoppable... or at least we could argue about how we could be unstoppable, or should be unstoppable and why we're not unstoppable.

  17. We win 31-0 & we have a group of so called "fans" who do nothing but whine, ***** & complain even after a big win like that. Pretty sad state of affairs for some of the people posting here. The only time they're happy is when we lose.

  18. They’re not the same. Jefferson was showboating. Nichols was mimicking a crowd favourite. An inside joke as it were. A lot of people didn’t know that walk, myself included. A lot of people didn’t like it. My fellow watchers just laughed it off. Knowing the background helps. It was a funny 😆 Others have mimicked Arceneaux’s strut. No offence meant, none taken. Time to lighten up.

  19. Speaking for myself only of course, I find the "discussion" on this board rapidly going downhill, primarily because of a few posters who really feel the need to bad mouth the team generally and specific players with the apparent motive of eliciting as much reaction as possible. Sure hope that Rich and the mods don't let this go on for too much longer. Ignore is a great feature, but it doesn't replace culling when necessary. Would be a shame to see this place deteriorate much more. It's going to get real ugly in here if the Bombers make an early exit in the playoffs.

  20. I can just hear the play-call next year when Peterman, Simonese and Woli are all catching passes for big yardage in a game... Rod Black - "boy Duane the Bombers "Canadian Air Force" is putting on a show today!!!" Duane Ford (stifling a groan and possibly vomit too): "Yeah Rod, the Bombers really have some talented Canadian receivers that they built through the draft. Kudos to GM Kyle Walters". Rod Black: "none of them hold a candle to Samuel Giguere though. What a physical specimen!" Duane Ford mumbling: "I can't, I just can't anymore..." (sounds of man vomiting violently)... Rod Black: Well Duane down to the sidelines to Sara Orlesky where she has an update....Sara, any chance you can talk to Sam Giguere?

  21. He's caught every ball that has been thrown his way, according to CFL.ca He's been a very key contributor in other packages, including our punt cover team Not really sure what more you could ask of a receiver. And before you play the "Peterman has jumped him on the depth chart" card, they don't play the same spot. Simonise plays WR and right now, we have two starting WRs that have yet to miss a game this year.

  23. I think our offensive Canadian talent could look very solid even once Harris moves on. 2020 and we deploy Gray, Goossen, Chungh, Wolitarsky, Demski, Peterman/Simonise? Could be a solid way to deploy the ratio. We’ll probably need some depth to go with 3 Canuck receivers, but it’s possible.

  24. Nichols isn’t going to win us games on his own. He isn’t that kind of quarterback and truly few are. He will be involved in 3-4 big plays a game and if the majority of those go our way we have a great chance to win. If they go the other way we probably lose. We have a defense and special teams built to make big plays as well, turn the ball over. That makes up for what we lack behind centre. We have the best starting field position in the league for 3 years running. If Nichols can manage 3 first downs every drive and the odd big play we easily score enough points to win every game.

  25. yup we've got Poplawski (Wolitarsky), we've got House (Peterman) and now we've got Nick Bastaja. Anyone know where we can find a James Murphy?

  27. You guys have scored 22 offensive TDs all year after 16 games...and scored less than you have given up..that's post poor offence all around..and to have 10 wins at this point is totally smoke and mirrors and blind luck...and looking like luck has run out

  30. No flaming needed, it serves no purpose whatsoever. Just some clarification: With the conservative second half, Harris on the sidelines, etc. I doubt Nichols gets even 200 yards. Which is why I extrapolated his first half numbers and conclude 250 - 300 yards. For Streveler, this game was experience and playing time, no more, no less. The coaches can take the game plan into account when they evaluate him, we can’t.

  32. If the player is having fun, doesn’t get a stupid taunting call, for me it’s all just entertainment. Watching highlight reels of celebrations is a perfectly legitimate “best of...” programming. By golly, it’s even fun getting angry when the other side pisses me off with a celly, but it’s still entertainment.

  36. Key words "high school" He wouldn't last half a season as a feature back...and if did he would be majorly ineffective...his best role is what we have him in now..A Chris Drury/hybrid slot/back who can also play outside. I think when all said in done...in next couple years our top 2 Canadian receivers will be Woli and Simonese...and I am pretty certain Woli is going to overtake Sinopoli as the best Canadian one in the league...if he wasn't majorly ignored in the first 3-4 games once Nichols came back I bet he would be sniffing at 1000 yards by season end...if not already I'd also not be opposed to a transition of Harris to a role like Demski with a bit more run heavy use than Demski sees and incorporate a explosive import as our feature back...using Dresslers roster spot... A lineup as it sits now with Adams and Thompkins, with Woli and Demski as the national receivers and Harris and an import sharing/coming out of the back field together would be hard to handle...and thats not even considering if we land a stud receiver to push..or supplant one of Adams or Thompkins

  37. The TEAM wins 31-0 and you come out the other end worrying about Nichols' individual stats??? Credit must be given to the efficiency the Bombers used to dispose of the Riders, all 3 phases played very well, not a lot of mistakes were made. Next game is next game and different circumstances will be at play but if Nichols and crew perform with the same efficiency they will most likely win, no matter who the opponent.

  39. I have to say I agree with you. We are far better at drafting and developing Canadian offensive lineman than scouting and developing "beast mode" middle linebackers. Having said that I'd greatly prefer to trade Neufeld in the offseason and re-sign Chung to a long term deal. But if we did lose him we'd be fine. We would just draft another offensive lineman with our pick or BC's. We are already in a position where there aren't really jobs open for Canadians on the offensive line or receiving core and it's hard to see us using either of our first round picks at those positions unless Chung moves on. The Canadian talent on this team is as good as i've seen it since i started following this team in 1989. Having said all this Chung is still high priority. But if he comes back we are probably in a situation where we are drafting heavily on defense or we draft another guy who's going to the NFL for a year or two. It's an embarrassment of riches.

  40. A win means that no one can say anything negative? What a crock. It's not the folks who look at both sides who are the problem. It's the folks to whine about folks not just seeing the positives that cause these threads to go on and on and on. Just ignore those who disagree with you and everyone will get along better.

  44. The Bombers offence is high efficient at putting points on athe board. The offence is built around feeding the ball to Andrew Harris nobody else is going to have godly stats in this offence. Really it’s a different offence than any other around the league. It’s really something they lead the league in TDs and points.
