I’m going to give some credit to Mike O’Shea. The decision to substitute players for the 4th quarter was an important step for O’Shea. It was a must. When Streveler went in, it was a learning experience. He threw that pick to the sidelines. This was the time to make that mistake..when you’re up by big points, not when #1 QB goes down and you’re pressed into action. Right there, Streveler found out you can’t casually throw that ball to the sidelines. He had to bullet it there. Now he knows. He won’t be doing that again. Streveler found out by playing. There’s no other way.

I would give Nichols a star. He's come back from a bad place.... If he hadn't gotten himself out of his funk, the team probably wouldn't be winning.

Bomber D closing on receivers and making sure tackles..... Medlock with some nice punting...ST's with good coverage.... Collaros completing some balls.....but not going through reads.... Lots of jaw-jaw between Blue receivers and Rider D..... Loffler actually looks like centerfielder....as he picks off bad ZC throw, deep Couple of Harris runs.....gets it to Rider 15..... Naturally we get an incomplete pass, then a sack... Medlock pops 30 yd FG....Bombers 17-0... For his size...Sayles does some thumping out there..... Hall still running lots of blitz packages, again.... Collaros getting pressured....and looking shaky.... Thompkins catches for FD....Harris runs for another 9... Streveler on 2nd and short …rears up and throws down the middle... ...where only Dressler can get it....with a nice diving catch in the end zone... 30 yd TD. 24-0. Turning into nightmare half for the Riders.... Bartel getting outkicked by Medlock, Blue getting good field position.... Nichols completes passes to Demski and Wolitarsky…… Streveler then runs sneak and barges his way up the gut, for 25....to Rider 1 QB sneak on next play.....Bombers simply tuning up the Riders now Banjo Bowl stench has finally dissipated ….now 31 to nothing, in first half.... Blue get standing ovation from crowd, as time runs out..... Collaros starting the 2nd half.....to the surprise of many..... Bighill blows into Rider backfield to sack ZC..... Bridge finally comes in at QB....promptly sacked by Gaitor….. Wolitarsky looking more and more... like an ace inside receiver... Bridge scrambling 25 yds back of line of scrimmage, but gets off nice bomb... ….to Shaw, who like most of the Riders receivers, today...can't catch a cold... Nichols is done.....Streveler will take it from here...Harris actually being rested also... Loffler really ranging around there, in this one.... Bighill chases down Bridge, with some tremendous pursuit...… Sayles having another strong game, back there..... Bridge has a terrific arm....but with no clue what he is doing out there..... Both teams still smacking on D....just punts going back and forth, now.... Bridge to Holley, who is stripped by Fogg....who also recovers the fumble... ….capping off a miserable afternoon for Rider receiving corps..... This Bryant at DT can ball, some....surprising quickness. Bombers get it back with 2.5 minutes left....and just grind out the clock …..to preserve the 31-0 shutout. Bombers needed that game more.....and played like it I needed the gin, just as much....and drank like it.

Bighill is an absolute monster. No way we’d be this dominate on defence without him.

Friendly reminder to our man MN. Do not, under any circumstances, throw any type of pass, underhand, flic etc to Jefferson's side, especially under duress. Set him up to lose his contain so all he sees is the back of our guy running into the endzone. Go Blue.

This is the SK squad version of spending the afternoon in a Mexican sweat lodge. Special recognition to the riderfans that fought with each other to get kicked out. You proved who you are, once again.

Yeah, I don’t think Nichols is doing all that bad. His misses are half and half. Throwing the ball sometimes where no Rider can get it. Making some good decisions and throws.

The only thing I can say in Nichols defense in relation to Streveler's play is that if he was starting, he'd be used totally different. Right now, Streveler can come off the bench & be a total change up that defensively is very difficult to stop. I don't think there's another backup qb like that in the CFL. Very unique.

I hope Collaros keeps this stink up so their whole playoff hopes go into the barbecue

It will come down to trench warfare- both Collaros and Nichols need more time than most to make their reads and neither are roll-out experts or threats to run.

CFL Game #76 Team Notes – Saskatchewan at Winnipeg:  Season series: The Riders have already clinched the 2018 series with Winnipeg leading 2-0 and can ensure a finish ahead of them with another win this week at Investors Group Field. It is their first series victory over Winnipeg since 2014. They stat from the first two games of 2018 vs the Bombers was an 8-3 Turnover edge and 6 Sacks made vs 3 by Winnipeg.  Zach Collaros .727: The Riders' QB has completely turned around his W-L record this year after an 0-12 skid in Hamilton. Zach is #2 in the CFL with a .727 win % in 2018 at 8-3 and has once again gotten above .500 for his career at 32-30. His W-L record has come in 3 distinct stretches - 2012-15: 21-12; 2016-17: 3-15; 2018: 8-3.  Matt Nichols - 7 INTs cut to 1: Nichols comes in with a 3-game win streak and has not lost since the two Saskatchewan games either side of Labour Day. He has thrown just one INT over the last 3 games compared to 7 picks in the 3 games before that. Nichols has yet to throw for 300+ yards this season vs 10 above 300 yards over the 2016-17 seasons.  3-game win streak for Riders: Saskatchewan is riding a 3-game winning run with none of the victories by a margin greater than 7 points and 13 points in total. In games decided by 8 points or less, essentially one possession games at the end, Saskatchewan has gone 8-3 in 2018. Saskatchewan has 9 on defence in 2018.  Riders in the playoffs: Based on a potential 4-way tie in the West at 10-8, the Riders would still come out in playoff position.  Dressler: Is now at 123 straight games with a reception. At 709 catches, he passed Rocky DiPietro for #12 all-time last week.  Justin Medlock: Has made 16 of his last 17 FG attempts and now leads the CFL with 12 punts inside the 10-yard line.  Turnovers Forced: Winnipeg leads with 41 Takeaways including 2 last week. They are #1 with 139 points off of Turnovers.  Shaquelle Evans: In his last 2 games has caught 12 of his targets, for a team-high 173 yards and 4 for 2nd down conversions.  Tre Mason: Was held to just 20 yards last week by Edmonton and did not gain more than 5 yards on any of his 10 carries.  Hughes: Took his Sack total to 15 and now has 114 for his career and the #9 spot all-time.  Willie Jefferson: Has at least one Sack in 5 of his last 6 games and two pick 6's this year including a 49-yarder last week.  Winning without an Offensive TD: The Riders did just that last week with a pick '6' and 4 field goals over Edmonton. ____________________________________________________________________________________
