This Op-Ed in the NY Times has certainly existed a great deal of wild speculation. Investigations, lie detectors, and a lot of brave people insisting that they are not Spartacus. Having a great deal of practical experience with whodunits - have consulted my advanced tools, to help shed some light on this. I have now narrowed it down to a number of prime suspects: Colonel Mustard (Kelly) Mr. Green (Pence) Major Plum (Mattis) Miss Scarlet (Hicks) Professor Peacock (Pompeo) Mrs. White (Conway) Miss Peacock (Ivanka)

I'm not sold on Claybrooks. Yes, he has a great defense in Calgary but he's been blesses having great players to coach & who know the system. I also think he isn't experienced enough. is this his third year as a DC? The guy I like is Orlando Steinhauer. A successful DC (in the past) who knows the league as a player & a coach. Coached as a DC in the NCAA & did well in the only year he did in 2017. He was ready 3 years ago to be a CFL HC & I'd love to see him here. I think his upside is far higher than O'Shea.

  7. its on the Bomber app, press conference from Wednesday..... where he says Nichols is making the right throws and has been accurate and is grading very well. That's where I have serious problems with his assessment of good QB play. To say he doesn't see a drop off in his play from last year is just unfathomable.

“Because our coach is an idiot.“ Eternal Optimist (poster - previous post) It’s funny you should say that. After the practice today, in the post practice question period, Coach O’Shea said “I guess you can call me an Eternal Optimist”.. 😀

Sask game alone: 3 minutes looking Completed Pass to K. THOMPKINS, 31 yards TD Completed Pass to N. DEMSKI, 16 yds Completed Pass to D. ADAMS, caught at S48 (18 yds) before the LaFrance fumble. These were all good throws You wouldn’t have to look hard to find other examples. To deny he has made some good throws to support your theories doesn’t back up the facts. Look nobody's denying Nichols has to step up his game, but in the completions he has made, some of them are pretty good.

  11. Yeah but mike Kelly was OC back then too right? Hell we had that huge rushing game with Kelly in 09 vs. Bc but the guy was still clueless on team building and did damage to the team that is only now being repaired.

Or could it be that they've seen the film and know that lots of the mistakes that occurring are not just on Nichols?

Oh god if we do lose our minds and fire MOS it better not be Lapo again. I have no desire to see a team playing just well enough to lose again.

Lapo won’t be head coach. If, HUGE IF, Lapo is head coach no credible CFL OC would come here.

  18. Perhaps this team should worry first about playing 60 minutes and start with a one game winning streak.

  19. Taken a little bit out of context.. In breaking down the film, in their meetings, they determine where the ball should be going in reflection of what they see. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the ball gets there, but more that the right read has been identified. As to the QB’s ability to get it there..well, that’s a different matter. I believe that clip was from the Coach’s show, Tuesday, audio vault, CJOB. 7pm

    School Zones

I agree with most of what you're saying, especially about after school hours. But yes, there had been some issues with kids being hit by cars. I guess if you don't know, then you don't know. I shared one in a post further up. Enforcement by police and better education both cost extra money - which is exactly why neither of them will happen Budgets and the almighty buck always come before better ways of doing things. I was happy to see this change, because I knew it was the only change we were going to see. And yes, I have been ticketed in one of those 30 km/h zones. I was going to another school for Professional Development, there were no kids in class all across the province on that day. It sucked, but that's life, and it only happened once.

All this talk of replacing coaches and such is SO premature. You don't fire or replace a HC who just ends a 30yr drought and wins the Grey Cup- that is ******* asinine.

  32. What Collaros is or is not not is moot. The Riders and 4 and 0 in their last four games and the Bombers are not. That is all that counts, right? Should the Bombers lose on Saturday, it will be all hands to panic stations and more than one career will be in jeopardy.

  36. basically what you're saying is that Streveler has hit his peak, and isn't going to get any better with experience. That you Coach O'Shea??

  37. Burris used to make those throws. Some got picked, but he definitely made them.
    1 point
  38. Well the evidence in the first 3 games seems to show otherwise. Blew a lead late against Edmonton because the offense got bogged down, never got going at all against Hamilton and yes the Montreal game was good, but it was Montreal so how much does that really mean?
    1 point
  39. OK but I will judge receivers who drop passes that hit them squarely in the hands on 2nd downs (Thompkins and Adams on Labour Day, Washington volleyed up the first INT too, who knows what happens if he either knocked it down or just let it do by) So you can go ahead and keep pinning it all on Nichols but his receivers ain't helping him. How about the play where Nichols rolled out of the pocket to escape pressure and none of his receivers could get open for him and he had to throw the ball away? How about all the times the pressure came and there were no options for Nichols? Either Lapo has no plays called for that (unlikely much as I think Lapo is a ***** sometimes) or the receivers aren't getting open for the qb.
    1 point
  40. You didn't say it, you implied it which is the exact same thing. So no, MOS hasn't lost the room. I think we over estimated the talent this team has, especially at receiver. Darvin Adams is too inconsistent to be our #1 guy, would much rather that he was the #3 guy. Dressler is still a good player but he's old and getting hurt more so again, he should not be the only reliable guy we have out there. It's fallen apart without him. Bowman was a bust, Thompkins has shown some flashes but seems to never see the ball until it's too late, no idea why that is. The Canadians are good, but we are missing those receivers who really step up and consistently make plays for their qb.
    1 point
  41. Yep, all of those guys can run, catch and block. There’s no defense in the league equipped to defend that kind of option attack. Who’s the biggest LB in the league? 235 lbs? Most teams have at least one guy playing in the box who’s 200 or less. Good luck. Plus you still have Adams, Thompkins, Wolitarsky etc downfield, Dressler when he is back. Streveler is a far better passer than most QBs you’d try to run this with so you can have a ton of variety. Hell even if they ran looks like this 20 times a game it would totally **** up every D and their planning. You can basically give Nichols some scaffold to get his mojo back. Lets keep doing the straight drop back passing!

  42. I've been saying this for weeks now. Imagine a formation with Harris Demski Flanders Streveler that's bent on running the football with some hand-off misdirection/play option at the core. That's gotta be hard to defend.

  45. I don't think it is an issue with the play calling...hard to determine if it is Nichol's not being able to execute on all the options, or gets jitters and just want to dump it off for fear of getting injured further..and I don't think he is 100 percent...in body and mind I see receivers open...or in a position to be thrown open or lead to a ball...and Nichols isn't pulling the trigger for whatever reason. Also...teams know he is no threat to run this year, and basically disregard that in their pass rush, and even on a play action/roll out...they know he ain't going anywhere. Tho he was no major threat or consistent runner before, the ability/threat was there...and that is huge in an offence to hum along nicely. The fact that Harris is able to accomplish what he is right now is amazing and is a tribute to his talent...and the o-line...now if we could insert a QB who can threaten a defense with the notion he may take off, as well as stand in and make intermediate passes and utilize the offence then we will be onto something...but right now..Nichols funk is affecting things big time and it is the issue we have sputtered..

  47. I believe the injury Nichols suffered at the beginning of the year is really impacting his play. I also believe he really only trusts Harris, Dressler, and Adams. As soon as Dressler got injured it seems like he's only going to Harris or Adams, and it becomes easy to defend. Same thing happened last year when Dressler went out, then Adams. Also, Nichols can't throw a deep ball, and never has been able to. Put Streveler in and watch him distribute the ball all around. Just look how much more Wolitarsky was involved in the games where Streveler started. I believe Wolitarsky is not being used enough. Nichols is not the same player he was last year, and I'm scared that waiting for him to regain his form is going to put us on the outside looking in come playoff time...
    1 point
  48. Yah but you watch Masoli flee the pocket, re-set and find receivers down field. Nichols does not even attempt to do that, once he's out of the pocket he's like a chicken on the run and usually just flings the ball out of bounds. Not saying Nichols is as athletic as Masoli, but right now he doesn't have any composure.

    Paul Lapolice

Lapo gets in a funk when he doesn’t have confidence in his players and he runs a passing game that’s all 5 yard hitched and screens to Harris. His playcalling this season demonstrates no confidence in Nichols. Lapo gave an interesting interview after practice to Bob Irving that they played on the pre-game where he basically said if he doesn’t call the deep shots Nichols won’t take them, and that’s why they are forcing them lately because they are becoming too easy to defend. Just be thankful we have Harris because if we didn’t this team wouldn’t be able to score.
