  1. Went to camp today. Ended a bit early. Simonise and Petermann were in the starting lineup with Demski and Wolitarsky out. Both looked pretty good. QBs were hard to separate. Mahoney didn't throw as much as the others. Bennett was there but not dressed or taking reps yet. Saw Streveler run a couple of times and with those long legs he can really move. I still think he is behind Ross but I wonder if he gets in the game for some LeFevour-type runs. Bighill was fitting right in, pointing things out and talking to a bunch of the defense. Apparently he had a very nice near-INT but I missed it. Kyrie Wilson and Chandler Fenner were beside him as the outside guys most commonly. Fenner had an interception off Nichols today, with Alexander deflecting the pass that led to it. Fogg also had a really nice pick, diving to the sideline for the ball.

Seriously?? If they don't bring in talent, people ***** that there's no competition and the scouts need to do more. So they bring in people and now we're complaining that the Bombers are bringing in too much talent? Unfreaking believable...

Neither played enough to make much of a difference and in Macho's case he actually played quite well in a limited role on S.T.. His reputation preceded him from his time with the Riders. I actually made the list in jest to serve the "haters", I think it's completely idiotic to blame the woes of a football team on a select few individuals, it's a team game.

  6. Don't really understand why Reed would think that he needs to go out and make sure that everyone knows that Freeman didn't quit, he was fired. Chump move but I'm sure glad that we've happy passed on the Dumpster Fire award. Now if Montreal would just pass it back to the Riders...

Yeah, I kinda waxed over him didn’t I? And probably others. Not on purpose though. Once you start looking at all the names, they start to blend together. I started seeing names in my head like Justin Goltz and Darian Durant..so I quit while I was ahead.. BTW...that’s not my list.

  9. Fogg seems to be (still) taking 1st team reps as a db. I like the guy and at times he has been great as a punt returner but...doesn't it concern any of you that he is still in that spot? I mean, we brought in a bunch of DBs to compete. How come none of them have supplanted some of our 2017 guys yet? Am I making too much of this at this point? Thoughts??

Agreed. Brown is smart and knows the game from an insider's point of view. He ought to throw his thesaurus away and talk like he's not trying to impress. He's even got a decent sense of ha-ha on occasion.

  14. BRIAN HELBERG..on the BC Lions Remember? - Solomon Elimimian broke his own record for defensive tackles in a season by recording 144 defensive stops. Chris Greaves (N)- signed as a free agent on February 13th. Greaves has 112 CFL games under his belt, split between Winnipeg, Edmonton and Montreal. 141- the number of ‘quarterback pressures’ allowed by the offence in 2017, the highest total in the CFL. By comparison, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers allowed a league-low 71. Fun fact - The average height of the 16 defensive backs in Kamloops is 6’ 0” and the average weight is 192 pounds. The average age of the Lions secondary is 26 and the average BC defensive back has played in the CFL for three seasons. The Leos were aggressive this winter, landing Garry Peters, Dominique Termansen, A.J. Jefferson, Otha Foster III, Cauchy Muamba and Mike Dubuisson all in the first week of free agency. Winston Rose and Marcell Young were signed shortly thereafter. Of the 16 defensive backs on the roster, 10 of them are six feet or taller. The CFL.CA Staff made a list of 20 position battles to watch throughout training camp. They mentioned the Bombers in 3 position battles. 9. WILL linebacker, Winnipeg Blue Bombers The Participants: Jovan Santos-Knox, Ian Wild The Favourite: Jovan Santos-Knox All off-season, when reporters asked if the Bombers would bring in Henoc Muamba, Kyle Walters and Mike O’Shea maintained their trust in Jovan Santos-Knox. The signing of Adam Bighill shores up the middle linebacker spot in Winnipeg, but Santos-Knox is still in the running for a job at WILL linebacker. The pressure is on for both Santos-Knox and the veteran Ian Wild, who appear to be in competition for the WILL linebacker position. 12. Backup quarterback, Winnipeg Blue Bombers The Participants: Alex Ross, Chris Streveler, Zack Mahoney The Favourite: Alex Ross Even with just one year next to his name, Alex Ross may be the Bombers’ second-string quarterback by default following the departure of Darian Durant. He was supposed to compete to be the team’s developmental third-stringer, but now he’s the most sensible backup due to his experience. Chris Streveler has talent but is just 23 and too raw to be thrown into the fire, while Canadian Zack Mahoney is likely fighting for a chance just to stay on the roster after going undrafted. 18. Field wideout, Winnipeg Blue Bombers The Participants: Drew Wolitarsky, Tylor Henry, Daniel Petermann, Tyrone Pierre, Rashaun Simonise, Brendon Thera-Plamondon The Favourite: Drew Wolitarsky It’s no secret that the Bombers plan to start two Canadian receivers on offence, with one of those spots occupied by newcomer Nic Demski. Former supplemental draft pick Drew Wolitarsky seems to have the inside track on the job, but a talented crop of rookies could make for a difficult decision from the coaching staff. Rashaun Simonise is the big name here. The former University of Calgary receiver is considered a bit raw after being out of football for the last year, but he’s been in an NFL camp with the Cincinnati Bengals and has the highest upside of any Canadian receiver on the roster aside from perhaps Demski. The rest of the list is here: https://www.cfl.ca/2018/05/22/position-battles-20-watch-training-camp/ 👁‍🗨 Well, they closed the MOS sleeper loophole today.. A loophole in the “sleeper” play rule is closed by making it illegal for a player who enters the game and remains outside the numbers to receive the ball in any manner, including a kick or lateral. Every player from the 2018 CFL Draft is now under contract – with the exception of those who signed in the NFL or are going back to school – 1st ro7nd choice Chapman remains the lone unsigned selection. First overall CFL draft pick Mark Chapman and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are “light years” apart in contract negotiations, per league sources. Multiple sources say Chapman wants a deal in line with what Rutherford and Ekakitie received while Hamilton is trying to get a below-market contract. It was unanimous among scouts that Chapman was the most pro-ready player in the 2018 class. - Justin Dunk CFL News - U.S. fans with cable will have to pay $5/month more to watch the 68 #CFL games on ESPN+ awfulannouncing.com/espn/u-s-fans-… via @awfulannouncing 👁‍🗨 I mean, who doesn’t want to have 2 players on the team named Chinedu Oparaku and, of course, Tristan Okpalaugo? I haven't heard much of Sanchez, so I'll reserve judgement. I usually liked Shultz - not so much when he tried to go X's and O's, but just his persona meshed well with the original panel. I never used to like CLimie, but he's grown on me. I think most Bomber fans are way too sensitive regarding him. Most of the time when he was criticizing us, we were a really terrible team. Can't stand Burris. He may improve, but right now he doesn't add anything to the discussion. The sole reason he is on the panel is because of the drama he created late in his playing career and they think having him on will be a ratings boost.

  17. People can laugh or mock Johnny Manziel. The fact he is at TC training camp for far less than he made as a Cleveland Brown & is competing for not only a starting job but to reclaim his playing career has earned my respect. He seems to be saying & doing all the right things. I hope he succeeds as I don't want to wish him bad. And this is from one of the biggest Johnny Football haters out there after his dumpster fire time with the Browns.

  19. I used to listen to Jim Rome regularly when I worked midnights back in the late 90's to early 2000's as his show was replayed at night. The format hasn't changed in 20 years. Very seldom listen now. What worked for me back then at 3 am doesn't work at 10 am now.

  20. Well, when Muamba always puts money ahead of team then playing on shitty teams should be his lot in life. the funny thing is he never actually earns all of it as teams cut him in the off season. The guy is a showboat & a mercenary with his CFL tours & always playing one organization against the other while constantly switching teams. I'm sure he'll enjoy cashing every game day cheque after every Alouette loss. Hope he never wins a playoff game.

  22. One more note: Refs were at practice the whole time. Team and coaches do push ups when there is a flag. They got called a few times when the team practiced the no huddle with crowd noise being pumped in. Richie Hall does impressive one-legged push ups. Good to see him back in full health.

I lived in Saskatchewan for a few years during the Al Ford -Rambo era, and the stream of quarterbacks they brought in were no better than the Bombers in recent years, and apart from Durant, it hasn't gotten all that much better since. Probably true for most CFL teams.

You have to be looking to upgrade positions, every year regardless of record. Take myself....after all this time, I don't just sit on my laurels. Gin shelf is always being restocked.

I thought it was Nevis and Hurl last year. I don't mind Lankford in the right situations on offense even if we're not actually throwing the ball to him, however I don't think we need him if he's just going to return kicks.

  40. What is this "point" that people speak of ?.........I said Reaves an Eakins are from the peg, so them bringing the cup to the city would generate a party. Others speak of people who aren't from Winnipeg bringing the cup to the city.........and are making some kind of comparison ? toews is from Winnipeg......hence the party when he showed up with the cup. Now Add in the bomber connection with Reaves and Eakins.......I would say if Vegas wins they should have a social at IGF celebrating these two.
