  1. Thursday, CBC, Sportsnet, MSNBC at 7:00 p.m. Tagline: "Music City vs. River City" Storyline: Game 7, 'nuff said. Quote: “It doesn't matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going" - Brian Tracy Quote #2: “There is no tomorrow! There is no tomorrow!" - Apollo Creed Fun facts: Nashville is still 0-8 when losing the first game of a series (I'll keep throwing this one out as long as I have to)........Winnipeg has played 2 prior game 7's in their NHL history dating back to 1.0 days; both times they lost after having never trailed in the series up to that point....... There have been 60 playoff games played in the last 5 years on 2 days' rest, the team that lost the game prior to the 2 days off won the next game 40 times (courtesy CBC, not independently fact-checked).......Since the introduction of the 7 game series for all rounds of the playoffs, no team has ever won the Stanley Cup without winning at least one overtime game, the closest any team got was the 2000 New Jersey Devils, who did not play an overtime game until they lost game 5 of the Finals against Dallas in extra time, and then they won the Cup in double overtime of game 6....the last team to win the Cup without winning (or even playing) in OT were the 1983 New York Islanders.......Andrei Vasilevsky (52) and Connor Hellebuyck (51) have joined the 50+ wins club this year (counting regular season and playoff games), there has never been a year when 3 goalies have all reached that mark - Pekka Rinne is at 49 wins right now (Brayden Holtby is the one other goalie with a shot to hit that mark - the Caps would need to win the Stanley Cup with him winning all the games for him to hit 50 on the nose).....Since the creation of the NHL in 1918, the #1 and #2 teams overall in the regular season have played a game 7 in the playoffs only 7 times (or 8, if you ignore the tiebreaker system the NHL has in place, see below), the underdog has won the 7th game only once: 1938: Boston (1) over New York Rangers (2) in the semi-finals (in double OT on a Mel Hill goal - his 3rd OT goal of the series) in the first ever game 7 in NHL history 1941: Boston (1) over Toronto (2) in the semi-finals 1954: Detroit (1) over Montreal (2) in the Cup final in OT (the second of only two game 7 OT winners in Cup finals history - 1950 being the first - as Tony Lestwick deflects a shot off of Doug Harvey's glove and into the net, making it the second-most infamous own goal by a defenseman in NHL playoff history - thanks Steve Smith) 1955: Detroit (1) over Montreal (2) in the Cup final again 1987: Edmonton (1) over Philadelphia (2) in the Cup final 1994: New York Rangers (1) over New Jersey (2) in the Conference Finals (In double OT - Matteau! Matteau! Matteau!) 2017: Pittsburgh (2) over Washington (1) in the Division Finals Special case - 2001: Colorado (1) over New Jersey (2 - technically 3rd because they had the same number of points as Detroit but fewer wins) in the Cup Final (Bourque finally wins one)

Not surprised to see Donteea Dye signed. I had watched the most recent season of NFL Film's Hardknocks on HBO and he was heavily featured. He was better than the rookie receiver they had kept instead of him but the other guy was cheaper and had a higher potential ceiling. He was pretty surprised he got cut but that's just what happens in the NFL after a couple years in the league. He's a polished receiver.

  5. I think this is just another stepping stone in the maturing of the Jets- facing an elimination game on visitor ice. I think they will come away with this one and be a better team because of the experience.

  7. while a Jets cruise-control victory in four would've been better, this Game 7 high drama thing isn't a bad consolation prize. Go Jets!

  8. Not a huge surprise, but.... Ken Wiebe‏ @WiebeSunSports 4m4 minutes ago #NHLJets are coming out for the morning skate in Nashville. Jacob Trouba and Bryan Little, who didn’t skate on Wednesday, are on the ice

saw this comment there "it's like ketchup vs. mustard" have to agree, He looks good. Clearly pushed down by the db. then crapped upon by the great and mighty Jameis. Wow, plethora of receivers.

  13. Did Thomas ever sign anywhere? Is he just not playing this year?? That would be a shame.

  14. 3 hours and 11 minutes until the players hit the ice. 3 hours 16 minutes until someone botches the american anthem. 3 hours 21 minutes until the puck drops. 3 hours 30 minutes until we take the lead. 3 hours 35 minutes until I need a refill.

Predictions: Streveler is third string out of camp Wild gets cut in our salary saving move because JSK can’t be held off the field Simonise starts the year at WR, Wolitarsky gives Demski a tough battle in the slot. Flanders ends up as a Rider and we all hate it Tony Stevens ends up as the receiver we all want to see getting playing time Gause wins the MLB job Surprise cut #2 will be Drake Nevis

Not sure if this is the case anymore. Walters touched on this type of thing in one of his recent interviews about Simonise. He admitted that earlier in his GM career he tended to play it say with the guys he would take on. Now he feels like the locker room is strong enough to handle guys who might have some baggage & keep them in check.

They were speaking in another language amongst themselves. That shouldn't trigger a rational person to lose their mind and go off like she did. There is absolutely no justification at all for her what she said and did. What a disgraceful human being.

  27. The life of a coach demands hard hours and an incredible amount of time away from family. It's not for everyone. Good on the Als for allowing him to remain on as a scout.

Praising a brutal dictator is not diplomacy. He's done so with Duterte, as well. I would love to see this president call out the dictators rather than revere them. And, I probably missed it, who was lavishing KJU with praise?

    Training Camp 2018

Ill throw out a few other wild predictions for TC as well. I see wild being displaced at LBer. Gause takes the MLB spot, and JSK stays at his WIl spot. This might take a couple weeks and wild may well stick as a DI for his teams work. I think the nastiness of roh takes a starting spot on the DE from ogopogo. I think okpalaugo maybe sits on the IR for a bit, possibly gets dealt. I think one of the rookie wrs makes it very hard for the first few weeks as well. I think one of the rookie imps will be a mainstay starter after a few weeks. I think either speller or spooner leap frog couture and take the T/G job. Displacing neufeld. Foggs last tc here. The rook Nis and demski take over return man work and the DI gets used else where. Petermann and simonise swap starts and reps. Petermann shows more reliability but simonise flashes more brilliance and ends up taking the job. Bingham or sayles becomes the tc mvp hype train that gets derailed and cut after a meh pre season performance. Finally, I think FMB will make the team, if only the PR at first. I dont think medlock is going to be here for many more years. Tldr, a lot of rookie up sets and costly vets sacrificed for cap space going forward.

  34. Regardless of the outcome on Thursday, competitive hockey, and quality playoff hockey is back in Winnipeg. This team has tons to be proud of. But the last thing we want is them having been up 3-2 and then shitting the bed... (like against the Oilers in Jets 1.0). Too many bad memories. If we lose Thursday, I hope it's in Triple OT. If we win Thursday, I hope it's a slaughterhouse so I get a good nights sleep.

  35. Buckley's going to med school, per the article. Doesn't sound like sneaky roster management. Congrats to Buckley on his med school admission and all the best to him in his next act. Winning a couple Hec Creightons while doing pre-med in university, that's a pretty serious accomplishment, deserves respect.
