  1. Past hour
  2. oh 100%. I’ve run into way more of those than you’d think normal in my ventures into saskabush. stay as close to the border as possible drive in and out same day
  3. “It speaks volumes for our organization in that we’re making sure all 21 Canadians on the dress roster, the guys on the practice roster, they’ve beaten out some very good football players. Just because you were here last year in that role… you’re going to be pushed this year. That’s a good feeling for our roster for sure.” - Kyle Walters, 2017 Does that sound like how things have been run recently?
  4. Awesome list thanks! Was holms new deal only 1 year or was that 2 years ago already? The lists are soo massive these days. You really have to act quickly and decisively to prevent torpedoing your off season.
  5. Did a quick list based on what I can quickly find from news releases and/or when players signed (I assumed the standard 3 year rookie deals for nationals & 1 year with a team option for a 2nd year with imports unless a specific length was announced). Might be off on a few and I'm sure the list will dwindle by the time FA officially opens. AYERS, Michael BONDS, Terrell BRYANT, Stanley CADWALLADER, Tanner CASE, Kody CASTILLO, Sergio COBB, Gavin DEMSKI, Nic ELI, Asotui GAUTHIER, Shayne GRIFFIN II, Michael HALLETT, Nick HOLM, Evan JEFFERSON, Willie KELLY, Jake KOLANKOWSKI, Chris KRAMDI, Redha LAWSON, Cameron LOFTON, Eric MAKONZO, Enock MITCHELL, Dillon NEUFELD, Patrick NICHOLS, Deatrick OLIVEIRA, Brady PARKER, Jamal RANDOLPH, Kendall SCHMEKEL, Tanner SCHOEN, Dalton SHEAHAN, Jamieson STERNS, Jerreth STREVELER, Chris THOMAS, Jake VANTERPOOL, Micah VAUGHTERS, James WHEATFALL, Keric WILSON, Kyrie WILSON, Terry WOODS, Jamal The following players ended the season on the PR, making them FA's immediately: Devin Adams, De'Shaan Dixon, Ben Dooley, Matthew Jackson, Jay Person, Hunter Poncius,, Fabian Weitz, AK Gassama, Justin Mayers.
  6. Kyrie was alright. But we need to go younger at lber and should flip the ratio to ni with the young guys there. Apparently zach said he wants to play next year with the current core. Doesn’t sound from the quote like the wants to be in a rebuild or tear down next year. He also said he has “options” for next year.
  7. This is O'Shea's M.O. But it should not be surprising, given his own career. He refused to retire at the end of his useful football life and had to be released by the Argos. If it had been up to him, he would've kept playing believing he could still bring it.
  8. We had one a highly rated college center (Tui Eli) sitting on the bench while Kolankowski fell down a lot, we drafted a highly rated Canadian MLB and another (J.Jones) sit while T. Jones struggled on pass coverage a lot, and we had Echols and Cobb Sit while Mitchell and Corcoran wandered around, we had Jake Thomas waddle onto the field when the ratio allowed an import to replace him, and Cam Allen was sidelined too long. The D-line that we had second last game and was effective was gutted in the ESF. Maybe none of these changes would have saved the season, but O'Shea's stubbornness is more than evident.
  9. But these problems are one and the same.... guys with tenure never get challenged or replaced. We build the roster assuming they can still play the bulk of the snaps... it's the same problem! You're in until you're too hurt to play and even then maybe you still get to play.
  10. Agree on almost all points, but Kyrie Wilson had a good year and ought to be allowed to compete for a starting job next year. T. Jones was often out of position and Kyrie may have had to try to compensate.
  11. That whole province is a **** hole... It's what happens if Rural Alberta gets to be a whole province. Hard pass from me...
  12. When we were living in Saskatchewan, the wife and I attended a couple of Bomber games at the old stadium. It was mostly fun and an intimate experience although there seemed to be more than average numbers of jackholes who were rude and crude.
  13. Understandable. However, in Walter's defence, and I am in no way absolving him, maybe some of those premium players may not have wanted to come here because of O'Shea's rigid insistence of playing his pet players to the exclusion of better players.
  14. Today
  15. Our offence was bad, partly because we didn't have a star receiver to go up and bring down the 50/50 ball consistently. Add Lawler and the rest of the recievers get more room.
  16. Is there any realistic chance hogan gets fired?
  17. Lawler would’ve made us better, but our passing game /offence was soo bad I think he would’ve just been under used, like brady. I don’t think he would’ve put us over calgary or bc. Now if we fire hogan early or never make him oc, and keep lawler, then I think you are right.
  18. Lawler would have probably meant 2 extra wins, which equals a home game in the playoffs and a chance to go further than we did.
  19. I get using a DI on a killer teams guy. You can usually build a package on D with them in limited reps too. But, it’s very situational. When you use 1 di spot on a Kicker, and another on the kr, you just can’t use yet another on a cover guy. Especially not one who doesn’t play D at all. You also need to have a high level back up ni wr or db and probably 2 ni/global DL who can bring a lot of value in moderate snaps. Most teams are going two di’s on the dl already, and or a naturalized player. It’s even harder when your kr isn’t a back up wr or a viable db. If vaval could take that step it’d be huge. but I expect him to get an nfl look.
  20. Said no one ever, oh right you're talking football.
  21. On Ayers, waste of a DI spot using it on a ST player. J. Smith is honestly as good or better.
  22. Agree with a lot of that. I’d tend to be ready to tear down more of the old guys. Id only bring wj back on a dirt cheap deal to be the Nat-am back up end and play very limited reps. Parker has had moments and about as many good as bad, and missed a ton of time. I’d move on from him. We also have to look at guys who might wanna leave us. Haven’t seen our pending free agents, but if they can I could see wrs not named demski, all the dl we don’t cut, ayers, nichols and maybe even brady taking a long hard look at leaving. Guys like that don’t usually wanna sit around a rebuild, they want to sit on a bad team that won’t decide to rebuild even less. I think atleast one of mos/walters should go. Most of our offensive coaches outside of marty and a few of the defensive positional coaches. Time to let jy build a D staff, and build the roster on D around him. Rather than having him build the D around our sorry ass dl.
  23. Put in your two week notice, you're hired! 🙂
  24. Problems, we got a lot, but Thomas and roster management is way down the list. Start with Collaros, thinking he's still got the arm he used to have, throwing into tight spots and getting picked off. Then Jefferson, who used to take over games, but can only shows flashes now. Then whoever made the decision to let Lawler go and rely on broken down Schoen. Add in the guys who decided that our OC could learn the job on the fly instead of getting a real OC in and that everyone should get another chance instead of bringing in new talent. I worry that getting into the playoffs because we played a team that didn't need a win and won a game where we completed 3 freaking passes and Edmonton started the wrong QB at the beginning of the season, is going to tell those in charge that everything's OK so they bring back the old guys for one more kick at the cat. What we really need to do is to get rid of the expensive ex stars who aren't worth what we are paying them, work free agency with the cash we saved, and bring in a lot of new faces.
  25. I think I would question was a player like JT trotted out each week being man handled every game because there was no better alternative, nothing in the pipeline, no body they could bring in to assess, JT's CDN and the least of our worries OR it was never considered replacing him because JT was going to play as he earned his stripes he goes out on his terms and we adjust the D scheme to compensate for this? If it's the latter, that's a different discussion to be had. Imo some here gloss over this and underestimate it's impact on team dynamics and success. I'm obviously not suggesting our season failures land squarely on JT's shoulders not even close I hope he understands how appreciative we are in what he has done for this team and him bleeding Blue and Gold but when dissecting the season, performing it's autopsy, I think it's a little bit more complex we didn't have the upgrades available to replace our existing underperforming talent with little in season options available to us to adjust as needed.
