I wouldn't bring him back for half that to start. I'd only bring him back on a cheap deal with some incentives if he is the fake canadian on the roster and we rotate him heavily at end. Neuf hasn't been the same for a couple of years now. But none of our guards, since Desjarlais, have lived up to much of anything. If you get rid of Kola, I think you can bring back the rest of the ol, to compete with the young guys and bringing in 1 FA, then see how goodthe guys are when they aren't playing next to the worst linemen the league has seen in at least 10 years. This includes DL being forced into action on the OL. I would love to see a Bryant get a shot at G, Neuf at C, maybe lofton at G, and Vanterpool at T. If vanterpool doesn't crack it at T, he should be penned in at G next year. Once you subtract kola, a lot of guys will likely look a lot better. Sadly that is the state of the league these days. The good news is that NI crop, plus a depth FA or two, and a good draft will be very nice. I think you nailed it here. I would add Lofton back at vet min wouldn't be bad for camp. Shouldn't be at the expense of adding a high end ol this off season though. Glad some one recognized how important Cadwallader is on teams here, not just kick cover either, he is a teams stud on each unit. Does soo much more than just run and tackle. I like Gauthier, but Idk if he has another year in him at a high enough leve. It didn't seem like he had it this year either tbh. And we have a glut both at Lber and with NI lbers.

Not sure why people are eager to move on from Neuf. Wouldn't be easy to replace at the same skill level, passport, experience, and durability -- he started all 18 games last year. Of course, he's at the age where he might decide for us, or where he might suddenly break down. It astonishes me that guards can play into their late thirties. Is guard the most physically punishing position on the field? Jefferson is too expensive for the one or two games he wrecks every season. Or maybe he could still be consistently dominant if got spelled off once in awhile? I dunno. Saw Cadwallader make good plays on teams all year, so would like to see him stay. We seem to be able to dig up great DBs every year so I don't know how critical it is to retain / give raises to any of our DBs.

There is your Lawler money and we havent even mentioned our big defensive free agent splash Jonathan Jones! Man Walters really had an offseason bedshitting for the ages. Likely could have kept Dobson and Lawler if Mitchell, Logan, and Jones were all not signed. None of those guys made one lick of a difference. Gotta figure Lawler and Dobson would have.

They were priced out of the league's highest paid non-QB player. Everyone thought that was an overpay at the time. This just happened to be the 1 year that Lawler didn't get hurt or suspended.

the past three years, the team has gotten worse each year (old news) and he has repeatedly hung onto fading players when they could no longer compete and sat out potentially better ones. This year was no surprise- it was predicted in this forum and was the culmination of what was begun three years ago.

Not only that but we refused to spend to the ceiling blaming the CFLPA for it.

Especially after last years free agency.......Mitchell.....bust......Logan.....did he return one punt,,,Then think about the money these guys soaked up AND we let Lawler walk???.....

Does it make sense to have Kolankowski & Thomas on the roster? Even paying them each a single dollar is an overpayment as they have no business being on the roster. Yet if Osh & his Boys come back then they'll start no matter how useless they are on the field. I don't recall seeing a lot of guys coming from Randolph's side. I think he held his own pretty well. I saw a lot coming through on Kola's & Neufeld side as well as Wallace at times. He at least has an excuse: his experience. Kola jiust plain sucks & is terrible while Neufeld is 36 years old & his skills are eroding.

I do not think it is silly. I believe it was one of the reasons they felt Lawler was expendable. Some depth scoring was nice. Definitely not a masterpiece, but a decent outing and a road win. Anyone see Connor getting a Canuck’s stick jammed up into his visor? Somehow the refs didn’t think that was high sticking.

Randolph was addition by subtraction. He was better than Lofton but he still wasn't particularly good. To be honest, I don't think there's a single "untouchable" or cornerstone guy left on our offensive line. I'd say Big Stan (for his leadership more than anything) but I his days as a premier tackle are behind him.

It definitely comes down to roster construction and paying year-over-year to keep the team together. Hopefully some hard decisions are made this off season and there is a bit of a soft reboot. There are definitely some players who are being paid above market value compared to the results they give on the field and there is a correction. Collaros shouldn't be the 3rd highest paid QB in the league. Willie J over 200k doesn't make a lot of sense. Demski being the 4th highest paid receiver in the league at 33 probably doesn't make a tonne of sense.
